The Destruction of our Seas: How Overfishing is Destroying our Oceans

  • Documentary filmmaker Rupert Murray examines the devastating effect that overfishing has had on the world's fish populations and argues that drastic action must be taken to reverse these trends.
The End of the Line, the first major feature documentary film revealing the impact of overfishing on our oceans. Filmed over two years, we see firsthand the effects of our global love affair with fish as food.
The film examines the imminent extinction of blue fin tuna, brought on by increasing western demand for sushi; the impact on marine life resulting in huge overpopulation of jellyfish; and the profound implications of a future world with no fish, that would bring certain mass starvation.
    Director: Rupert Murray

It’s not one man with a fishing pole or one family with a small fishing boat that is wiping out species! It’s allowing gigantic and international factory ships to trawl and destroy, without measure. It’s the massive scale, fishing as much as every commercial fishing ship possibly could catch, without any restraint that killed them off.

This beautiful document does not address demographics and world human overpopulation.
When this film was made, in 2007 the world population was roughly 6.5 billion, now, 17 years later, we have added 1.5 billion and we are now over 8 billion , 8 billion eaters more. I think we are largely exaggerating.
We can resolve this fish depletion problem and all others at no cost by reducing the human population.
If every couple has just one child we can reduce the human population from 8 billion to 2 billion in just two generations. This is not about selective breeding but about fairness for all living creatures on the planet and therefore our own survival.

Well now. Something like 15 years after this film was produced it seems as though the "Deadliest Catch" should be called the "Deadliest Search."
They wont catch what they cant sell so from a simply logical perspective, have a fish moratorium for four to five years where people commit to not eating any filet of stench not served from a sustainable source.
That way, in 15 more years, we can save we've dodged the bullet and avoided the inevitable catastrophe that surely would have come.
It's not a heroin addiction. If you like or even love to eat fish or just catch them than take a few years off from eating only what YOU catch and that way youll be able to eat again what you love whe ever you like.
Simple solutions for everything are out there and not difficult to implement but only man makes them difficult by adding red tape anyplace they can put it
