    Had mine for nearly a year , used slabs to hold the tails down on the sides and some long spikes on the lower rails to anchor as well . Has held up really well during the winter storms , no rips. Used it this growing season for french beans , peppers , bok choi and loads of salad veg and it's performed really well. For the price ( i bought the 12 x 6 ) i would say it's worth the money.

      I wish mine had lasted longer! I bought some metal stakes for it and then it was obliterated by the wind! The pieces came in handy though so it’s not a complete loss.

    "... start off by looking at the instructions. That’ll be a good idea ...": I burst out laughing. Useful video thanks.

    Great little video I wouldn’t of put anything down on that floor as I would’ve used it as a no dig straight away in that poly tunnel👍👍

      I did get 6 more of the metal raised beds to go in there, but the tunnel lasted about 6 months before suffering total obliteration by the wind! It would have been nice too.

    Hi Barry, good job on building your new poytunnel by yourself. Looking forward to your tomato trials. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊

      Thanks! It needs a load of repairs but I’ve got some nice raised beds for this year!

    Great Job Barry, and single handed mate ;-) i would be putting in wooden doors mate, its the first thing i do and really tightens it all up. Well done mate

      I hope so! Failing that I’ll at least use the cover for my other tunnel and make it into a net tunnel or something!

      Thanks! I did an update on this tunnel a couple of months ago, it completely snapped and fell apart over the winter! Avoid Outsunny if you’re looking for a polytunnel.

    Am looking forward to the tomato trials! I'd like to experiment getting early toms by only letting one or two trusses grow on some plants, and try a couple of heavily pruned plants indoors too. I've planted in the polytunnel with quote a lot of blood fish and bone and chicken manure pellets... Here's hoping I haven't poisoned them by over fertilising!! 😮 Thanks again! All the best with your projects and vids

    Hi Barry. Tunnel looking good, hopefully it’ll last. I’ve spent ages researching poly tunnels, as I’d like one. It’s so hard to find anything decent that’ll last. Looking forward to the tomato trial and hydroponics. Great channel. Mark

    • @GrowIt
      @GrowIt Рік тому +1

      Cheers Mark! That’s the trouble it’s so hard to tell which are any good. I think it’s a case of trying and adding reinforcements if it needs them.

    • @GrowingWithPlot21
      @GrowingWithPlot21 Рік тому +1

      I think you’re right. I’ll definitely be doing some extra reinforcements when I do get one 👍

  • @robertcircleone

    I found one of these somewhere. I just refound it in my clutter. I am thinking of destroying a free caravan and building it onto the chassis so I can tow it around. I have no idea how it will stand up to being towed. I have seen caravans being offered for free. It's just an idea at the moment. I am too busy just now.

    • @GrowIt
      @GrowIt 18 днів тому

      It would definitely be cool to see that’s for sure! Maybe with enough reinforcement it would survive a slow tow but anything beyond that and it’ll look like mine did! Lasted all of 6 months.

    my first cheap poly tunnel lasted 7 year replaced it with a outsunny one at the start of this year and the cover has delaminated already .they seem to be a lot thinner covers

  • @youngalistairyou
    @youngalistairyou 10 місяців тому +1

    The cover looks similar to those that clothe the cheap small greenhouses which last about 2-3:years first the zips go unless your really really careful then the cover itself will deteriorate and you will be repairing it all the time. The strength of frame also comes into question when it's kept in but balmy conditions a typical u.k. garden.

  • @TomJones-iz2cf
    @TomJones-iz2cf Рік тому +2

    I got the same one. It hasnt last the first winter. And I added some wooden doors on either end and bolted it down. The frame itself with the wood has been fine, its the cover itself. Just worn through from the wind and torn on the beams.

    • @GrowIt
      @GrowIt Рік тому

      Not filling me with confidence hahah! The cover on the other one has started getting holes and broken zips but it’s about 5 or 6 years old, my plan was to use this one to replace it if the frame breaks! I think I’ll definitely add some wooden reinforcement before autumn. Cheers Tom!

      Is this a 3metre x 6 metre I was thinking it would last longer with wood batten and doors too

    • @GrowIt
      @GrowIt 3 місяці тому

      @greeney76 yes that’s the one. It definitely needs the reinforcement to last.

  • @ricardopelc-wesoly3483
    @ricardopelc-wesoly3483 4 місяці тому +1

    To give it more rigidity 2 x 1 batten along the length either side and top will keep the wind at bay.

    • @GrowIt
      @GrowIt 4 місяці тому

      That’s definitely on the cards for spring, I’ve got some massive steel stakes for it too. If you didn’t see the update it was obliterated by the wind so it needs a wooden frame to sort it out!

    • @ricardopelc-wesoly3483
      @ricardopelc-wesoly3483 4 місяці тому +1

      If you do have the space go bigger, you could just use 2 x 1 batten all round including the curvecture using kerf cutting, the price of the batten is around the same price for those sunny polytunnels.

    • @GrowIt

    Hi mate I've bought one of these and I've trenched it in for tension. I bought the white one for more light and although it could do with a single doorway it's alright for £ 100 I suppose

    • @GrowIt
      @GrowIt Рік тому

      Cheers Sean that’s good to hear, it’s held up pretty well so far, I think trenching is the key to making sure they don’t get battered by the wind.

    I’ve read numerous reviews saying that heavy rain and wind cause these outsunny polytunnels to come toppling down; have you run into any of these issues?

    • @GrowIt
      @GrowIt 11 місяців тому

      It’s been fine so far and we’ve had some fairly significant storms lately. We’ve had some big rain this weekend though and I haven’t checked so hopefully it’s still there tomorrow hah
