Was told by an old boy who'd been mixing since mid 70s If you can count 1,2,3 4. You can mix.. The only real hard part is splitting your brain in two. Then work out out which track is ahead .... or behind. Thats the real skill. Personally I'd advise beginers to start on E.D.M typical tracks of 127 bpm are easy to start off with.. A good one is have 2 copies of same track and start of together till one drifts then practice bringing the slow track back "in". Sadly many give up LONG before they "Get it". Its like driving one day it all drops into place.. Great work fella except for the Bernard Breslaw impression..👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hope you sorted things out with being able to see your kids, my parents divorced but I'm thankful my mum didn't start any of that shit with me, 10 years later & I'm doing fine! Your a great DJ and teacher man, watched too many of your vids & your literally my inspiration & guidance to get away from just letting my eyes & the computer program do the work, I've came on leaps & bounds thanks to you & it's been less than a week, so thanks bud & the best of luck! Also do you do any music production yourself or do you just DJ
I'm 16 and my parents got divorced when i was 4, i live with my mum but i can't imagine how bad my life would be if i didn't see my dad every saturday. the amount of things I've learnt from him and he's helped me with are uncountable. I wish you the best of luck with your kids, you deserve it and from the ammount you've taught me I can't begin to imagine how much they have to learn from you... all the best, Charlie
That just made me smile, I have just handed my girls back after the weekend, and I have sat here In tears, we are only a year into being apart. My love to you. The awareness is so supported by me❤️
Ellaskins, your videos have helped me heaps over the past year on learning to DJ. You are a true inspiration and you should be allowed to see your children, we can tell you care so much about them!
As always a pleasure to learn from you, and dont worry about your kids,, they will find you in time even if they are being stopped at the moment..its just human nature to do so... I still remember your hospitality and warmth as a person when I came for a lesson many yrs ago.....the brown man :-)
my mixes are starting to sound better and better, and you know what, it really feels like you enjoy teaching. And it makes me hold on to that knowledge even more and apply it to my mixes. We appreciate what you do mate. Honestly :)
I hope you reply to this btw. Firstly let me say your a absolute genius at teaching people of all levels of dj'ing. I personally learnt everything i know from yourself and have went on to have a fruitful career in dj'ing and now production. Ive taught my daughter everything and exactly the same way you shown us all them years ago and she's came on fantastic and is only 19.she can play on multiple formats including vinyl and cdj mainly. I just wanted to reach out to you and thank you personally for all youve done mate. Im not on social media due to me n the mrs having a deal not too so this is the only way i can get hold of you. Thanks so much for everything and keep doing wot u do. Your the future of our past. Take care. Danny and Maci
your a legend, not just musically, i can tell theres an underlying issue here involving your children, i wish you all the best with it mate, your heart is obviously in the right place.
You are great ! Of course like all parents their children. Of course you will get to meet your children. Children are the finest we have. You are a great asset to any DJ's who want to learn different things about being a DJ. Go for it! / DJ Maffe Sweden,
Guys for the love of God, this guys here is helping you guys how to be a good DJ. At the very least help him sign the petition on that is on his description. He has the right to see his children. Thanks
First video I've ever commented on on the tube. Watched many of your vids, top bloke and great teacher. Keep fighting mate and never give up but I don't think I need to tell you that. Good luck mate. Dads get such a shit deal on times.
Thanks, for posting this video. I want to learn, how to mix and beat match. Your mixer looks great. I support the idea of children seeing both parents.

Thank you from the buttton of my heart, you have change my life and you are inspiration! God bless you!!
Hi ! Im glad see ur still im business ! Ur video's helped me alot becoming a DJ back in 2007 . After few years brake im buying xone db2 and i will streaming my sets . Big love from Poland . DJ Camil Jays .
Thanks for the awesome tutorial. Lots of strength to you during these tough times, I'm really sad to hear of your situation. I'm sure your a good father, as you are a good person too. All the sympathy and positive vibes from Finland :)
Very cool vid I love mixes like that, great sound with the echo, the sound of this throws me back to the movie trainspoting and the theme song from it.
Thanks for all of your videos man. You're upbeat, down-to-earth and just genuinely out there to get people playing tunes well. It seems like so many DJs these days are protective of their "realm" and don't want to help others improve their stuff - apart from just being pretentious in the process. Again, cheers.
also it took me a while back in the day, since i wasn't taught, to figure out that beatless intros, such as that in the remix of Adamski's - killer, still had timing and it was up to the dj to count the beats when matching them with the previous song..It was much easier when you had a structured break to come out of , into a song like Killer...
You seem to love your kids man.... Fair dues. My dad left me and my family when we were young. We have no relationship now. Love the set up too. Nearly identical to mine, I've the A&h 42 tho
Omg there's the djs who have it and there's the ones that's dont .. you win that trophy .. show us a updated mix I haven't watched you in about 10 year
Hi, just stumbled upon your tutorials, excellent and so helpful. Thank you. If possible I would like to get a hold of the Adamski Killer remix but I can't find this remix in the vid. any chance you can be more specific on the remix. Thanks again.
i like how john sometimes has hidden messages in his videos thanks jonathan for all of your help I am a dj of fifteen years exp and still watch your vids for tips and tricks excellent work man cheers!!!!!
If you're looking for any advise about djing, software, equipment & stuff don't look no further, with Dj Tutor you can learn everything step by step with ease cause he knows what he's talking about and the experience to do so!!! About the 2nd subject: I think every father & mother should have that permission to see them whenever the occasion and if there's time to do so. Cause otherwise their relationship, love, care and stuff will vanish and when that happens there's no way to sort that out!!
Buongiorno. I have a question? How long on average if that makes sense does it take before one is able with some practice to beat match or mix especially with old 70's disco . Like Kool and the Gang. Or like a Donna Summers . Im a 62 year old guy who works a lot with Virtual dj and use to house dj with vinyl but never really did the beat mix stuff and want to get that down or worked out ? Any help or suggestions ? Will be appreciated. Grazie. Oh im a bit of a real jazz snob . The Coltrane, Chet Baker ...... Miles Davis etc. But those may not be suitable for beat mixing ...lol.
Coolest guy on youtube. Thanks for making those videos and I hope you don't have problems seeing your kids, cause I'm sure you're also the coolest dad and they wanna see you too.
cheers J, this one was really helpful :) and on a subnote "Children need two parents. A father is for life not just for conception!" I couldnt agree more. well done for saying it to the youtube world

I've seen many broken homes and messed up kids cause they didn't have both parents, my wife came from such a home. I know it's nearly a year later but I honestly hope your ex-wife smartened up and realized it's better for the kids to see their father and mother. I don't understand why people make kids suffer because of their failed relationship(s). Good luck dude, from the bottom of my heart I really mean that.
Hey Jonathan, haven't seen your videos for quite a while. I hope you are okay, and you are still teaching people how to practice, and enjoy :).
