  • If you're a beginning artist, don't think about a particular "style" to paint in. Learn the design fundamentals and begin to implement them in paintings - many paintings. After a while, you'll begin to see that what's inside you - what I call "The You" will begin to emerge. Be patient and let it happen.

You've perfectly put into words everything I've heard about style but could never understand. A lot of artists always talk about it taking time and that it will eventually develop but you helped me see why it does and how valuable that process is! So helpful and motivating, thank you!

I will miss seeing weekly videos but I totally understand! You’re a great help to those doing just what you said - getting what is inside out and into our art. Wishing you a great 2022!

I shall be sorry to see you less David !! I have been watching your videos for about 18 months so there's a lot of content I haven't seen !! I just wondered if you could go back to some of your early paintings and re paint them in your present , more evolved style - which would perhaps be of value to your paid students, us you tubists and yourself !! I'm only saying this because you asked for ideas for content !! What about Jewel Tones 22 !! I and many others would love this !! Anyway - Times change and we have to move on !! All my respect to you David !! Thank you !!!!!

Maybe an idea for the video. Critique a art piece that students might submit to you. Make it like a series.. you can tell us pros and cons of that piece - why is it good or why is it bad? What can be done to make it better? Then maybe talk about techniques used in that painting. It's amazing how much I am learning from you. Thank you so much

Can you discuss the wall behind you? How did you set up your work area?

I miss your videos! I hope you will consider re-starting one day, once you've had a restorative break. When I started painting as an absolute beginner you were the one I turned to. I learned a so much. Thank you. Pam McComas

Pam, that’s very kind, thank you! I’ve retired from teaching and have no plans to begin again. After 5 years of weekly videos, I felt I had nothing helpful left to offer.

I love this! For many years I studied other artist’s and their ‘style’. Now, I may watch a video to see an artist’s technique, but I have my own style
