    Having watched multiple videos and tutorials from Jim Lee himself, I learned nothing new, but that cat with a bow tie definitely deserves my like.

      Batman the Cat appreciates you for liking and commenting regardless! And of course, there is no way I can compare to the man himself haha. His streams are a goldmine!

    If you can, check out Jim Lee's pencils vs inked. Scott Williams is an underrated partner in his art.
    You can get the Justice League graphic novel, and then get Justice League Unwrapped with just his pencils no inks or color, and compare how much Scott Williams embellishes.
    I would really like to see your observations on the inks vs pencils because trying to study Jim Lee is very hard, and you seem to have a very good handle on his art.

      This is a fab suggestion! I have scoured the Internet for inked x-men unwrapped, so I can keep with the x-men series for continuity, however I will see about adding either a section in the upcoming rendering video or a whole Jim and Scott video in its entirety. As I'm sure over the years they have both evolved and I think it would be super interesting to study!
      But fear not, I have a Jim X-Men rendering video coming up where I try and decipher and give logical solutions to a somewhat.. organic rendering style 🤣😁

    Watching this video made me realize how much of Jim Lee's methods i use in my own drawings. To much less splendor, but still. 😅

      Methodical should be my middle name in all honesty haha 🤣 I will for sure do a clothes breakdown, there are so many different type of folds and I think there's very little clear logical instruction out there.

    Another entertaining video! I always thought of how Jim draws faces as "Rob Leifeld, but good". Given that the main characters in my comic are a catfolk and a kobold, I don't draw human faces as often as him, and mine tend to borrow more from manga/cartoony than American comics these days, but once upon a time I borrowed a lot from his style. I always liked how he created the impression of shadow and form with the lighting and breaking up the lines, particularly with noses.

      @LearnComicsWithPancake  3 місяці тому +1

      @@LearnComicsWithPancake Well the main character, Nails, is a catfolk at least, she was a Tabaxi barbarian I created for D&D originally but since I'm wanting to publish it I changed all WotC/Hasbro owned names from it, so I can't call her a Tabaxi in the comic itself.

    • @RarebitFiends
      @RarebitFiends 3 місяці тому +1

      @@LearnComicsWithPancake Unfortunately you will not find them. In the 90s and before it was very common for inkers to ink directly over the pencil art. The only reason we have so many examples of Kirby pencils for example is because he xeroxed his pages before sending them off to the inker. You can get a better look at the ink work in IDW's Jim Lee's X-Men Artist Edition. The entire issue is not reproduced in the book, but it's chock full of Lee/Williams greatness. It's not a cheap book by any stretch of the imagination... but honestly if you are a big fan you will be blown away and absolutely love it. There is something special about looking at more or less the original art at the size it was drawn. :D
