- Here is the commute, in real time, to Mt. Kahili from the Haiku airstrip on Kaua`i. No traffic on this trip to work. Mt. Kahili is the transmitter site for KKCR radio in Hanalei, Hawai`i.
I took the ride with Jack Harter about 40 years ago. We dug a hole and poured cement for a tower up there. The cement truck was down at the park and poured into a bucket slung under the helicopter, flown up to the site and dropped on the roof. We shoveled the cement into smaller buckets and carried it to the hole. That little landing pad was very little! When you look out the front of the copter, there is nothing there. LOL.
An LZ only a bush pilot could love!
Man, you have one of the best jobs in the world! Radio work, and helicopter rides, FUN!
Thanks for the ride, it was GREAT!Helicopterpilots are superdudes.
Tough life!!
