- In the latest of our 'Future Kings' series, we take a look at Vergil Ortiz Jr..
A hard-hitting fighter who vows to be the best of boxings latest crop.
Standing at 17-0, and having knocked out every opponent he's faced so far, the 23 year old Mexican-American now has his sights firmly set on the fighters at the very top of the welterweight division.

The sport is diluting itself when the best fighters won't even fight or fight once a year. Soon it'll be a celebrity fighting another celebrity, I think we're already there. Boxing isn't doing itself any favors.

Vergil is my favorite boxer of the new generation. His combinations are vicious. They are fast and heavy at the same time. COVID honestly helped him showcase his power, if you listen to some of the shots he threw in the quiet arena against Vargas...the sounds of those shots were downright scary. He has this ferocity and relentlessness that you just don't see anywhere else.

vergil always seems so incredibly focused for a young guy, contrast it with alot of fighters past and present that get a little taste of fame and go a little off the rails... vergil has them blinkers on and just keeps plowing forward up the boxing ranks, and god damn does he put on a show doing it.
I have a few fighters that I love to watch and I’ve been big on a for a bit now. Vergil might be my most favorite to watch. Dude is a full blown monster, nobody is punching the way he’s punching. He lets his hands fly w ill intentions

Dude just called out the whole WW division. Crawford said they use his name for attention, and Vergil only responded cause it was asked. This guy and Jaron Ennis look like a sure fire to set the WW division on fire. They're gonna run it forsure. Hopefully that day a fight between them will come. Absolutely master piece of footwork between the two, and both completely diverse in their boxing. I want to stay tuned for any of these two that are gonna fight. Real boxers forsure man

Nah, I've seen Crawford and he has no power, his defense is 50/50, his endurance is not for 12 rounds, his footwork, his combinations are average... He spends his energy trying to get a KO in the first rounds, but then he gases out in the middle rounds...
Vergil is constant in all rounds, he is the most powerful in the weight class, his power punches are devastating, his footwork is good, his head movement is good, endurance and stamina are crazy, his skills and ring knowledge are excellent, he put on pressure and knows how to cut the ring. The only concern with Vergil is his defense... He tries that stupid ass so called Mexican style and stands there with his guard high taking punches... But he has been working on defense... We will see his defense tomorrow and according to his improvement, I will say if I'm a 100% because right now I'm about 95% sure Vergil beats Crawford...
