Does he have a website or anything?
È bellissimo ❤️❤️😍
The problem with rouching over your stomach is when you're bloated or really full the creases are above and below the smooth snug belly and it's like emphasis
You're right I was thinking the same, plus using velvet emphasizes the lights even more
Exactly.
His heart is in the right place, but this is, absolutely, not the dress.
@@atatajoe3506 ruching is the absolute worst, it creates a big ole gut even when there isn’t one. i love some of his stuff but men fundamentally just don’t understand how women’s bodies work and what is flattering on us 😅 (and before people come at me, i’m gay myself)
Exactly what I was thinking. I have always been on the heavier side and first of all, would never go for a skin tight dress, and second of all, the rouching just emphasises the stomach even more. Strechy fabric might seem like a good idea, but it doesn’t offer any support, so it just ends up spotlighting all possible and imaginary rolls 😅😅
I was thinking the same thing. Cute dress, but I would absolutely never eat in it at an event. Give tight on the bust and flowy below, then I’ll be eating and dancing 💃
People get very conscious of their actions and appearances at events like weddings. They don't end up dancing/eating (actions) thinking how that would affect their appearance (looks...dress etc.)
To create something which helps them not feel this feeling and do everything they want to, to fully enjoy the event is so kind and thoughtful 😌
Absolute beauty you created there to let someone eat at the wedding!!
All I do is eat😂 I don't dance tho
I ate like a pig and was never invited back to a wedding (i ate a lot, I didn’t eat messy) so I probably should’ve followed in her footsteps 😂
When I got married, I ate and danced my ass off- nobody and nothing was going to stop me😂
But then they appear like a fuddy duddy lol
Gorgeous
oof, this kind of dress is the LAST thing I'd want to wear. It does the opposite-- it gives you a big ole gut 😂
Captivating video! Well done.
Absolutely breathtaking. Well done!
Amazing job 👏
Looks fabulous!❤
Just sit like a care-free male with your belly hanging..
You guys are such trolls 😂
it’s iconic that he chose the worst possible fabric for this issue but it’s stunning and it eats so it’s okay.
Lol right. I'm like this is why women need to take fashion advice from women.
I agree. It’s a gorgeous dress, just not good for the problem.
Hmm her owner will literally ear
People who are afraid of their tummy being bloated, I suggest you try wearing A-line dresses. They tend to be flowy and not hug your body whilst still showing off your body shape. But honestly, you shouldn't care too much about your tummy's appearance after a good hearty meal cause it's normal! I promise! 💓
My wedding dress was aline and I loved it, didn't have to wear shapewear or feel self conscious even during pictures and everyone looking at me lol
Definitely! Ruched bodycon is probably the worst possible combination if trying to hid bloat
I agree I saw the finished product and my first thought was 🥶 a style like that is going to show off every curve of your belly and if that’s what you’re self conscious about this is NOT the style for hiding it
Exactly!
It's not exactly normal but it can be common.
Beautiful dress, but stretch velvet is literally the WORST fabric you could have chosen for this issue.
And ruching.
@@neko7606 I'm super skinny, but I bloat when I eat and there is NO WAY I would ever wear a velvet dress! It makes you look pregnant if you so much as have a glass of water! I don't know anyone who thinks it's a flattering fabric on them.
@@neko7606 I was more concerned about the cheeks being in peoples face... 😂 I'm very much not comfortable in dresses that shows the crack and generel shape of the buttocks 💀
Totally.
@@amityislandchum true i had an amazing silk velvet dress which was amazingly tailored and always made me look so good but stretch velvet is so trashy. It doesnt look ecpensive it looks cheap as hell. Silk velvet however i think looks amaxing.
Would love to see Gunnar respond to these comments by making something that keeps the criticisms in mind. I don't think anyone is angry, or something "needs to be rectified", but rather I would love to see something from him that really works for this issue :)
I know, I want to see this artist's take on an actual solution. The fact that he's not is disappointing because he is very talented. At the same time I understand that he doesn't need to prove himself to anyone. So it's whatever.
@@naheleshiriki5496He made a mistake. Kind of an embarrassing one. I'd address it regardless of my "status."
@@teri2466 Though it certainly is a mistake it depends on the person and what that mistake means to them to correct it or not. If the mistake isn't that embarrassing in his eyes, he's not going to bother correcting it. He simply won't feel obligated to... and that's okay. It's got nothing to do with status. Of course he could be avoiding it out of embarrassment too, we don't really know. We don't know this person, we know only their works.
@@naheleshiriki5496 I noted WHAT I WOULD DO.
I would have loved to see a 6x Queen wearing this dress to truly see the range this style works for. 😊
As someone who deals with bloating… this would be the worst style cause the bloating is highlighted with the ruffles… I used to be super skinny and would still bloat and so I truly feel this style would not be ideal.
Yeah, my first thought was an empire waist
I’m size 0 and have unattractive looks with bloating. Empire waist makes me look pregnant when I’m bloated 🤰
I thought the same. Also bodycon is not great for girls who bloat
@@Lindsaysworldviews1987 They could just not give a f*ck! Besides, form-fitting clothing is better for bigger people. You're never going to hide that you are fat if you are--better to accept it and accentuate the good stuff/curves!!!
@@nellieshoals yes but he was supposed to design a dress for girls that feel insecure about getting bloated, not all girls can say “f it” and have the confidence to wear what they want and they still deserve to feel beautiful in the way of getting more confidence, and this dress does NOT help with that
If I were bloated, the last thing I'd want to wear is a skin tight, light reflecting dress with lines going horizontal across the body. An A-line dress with pockets would work a lot better. I love the dress but it's not the best design for someone who is self conscious of their body shape.
Depending on where the tummy bulge is; belly, lower belly, this would work. But his ultimate goal was comfort and figure flattering. Not to hide sudden tummy bulge per se.
Yup, I have seen just 3 videos of him, but his dresses could be more flattering
I'd still wear skin tight I'm just excited for the food 😂
The wine colored dress is magnificent. Your design is gorgeous .
The long burgundy dress is absolutely beautiful!
Dresses that flare at the natural waist (above the belly) are definitely the move to avoid looking bloated. Using a stiffer fabric that will hold the shape of the pleats as you sit and not just lay flat on your stomach would work best too. I’d recommend taffetas or dupioni or basically anything that can be ironed and effectively preserve the shape of the pleats.
Fantastic job! I'm in awe.
LOVE DUPPIONI! ESPECIALLY DUPPIONI SILK. LOOKS HIGH END!
these are great tips!! using stiffer fabric so it doesn't fall on the tummy is genius.. thank u for sharing
This dress will not mask a bloated belly, on the contrary, it will make it stand out.
Wow Gunnar😍 you’re so talented 🫶🏼
On a dress like this If you say it looks good on anyone, old love to see a plus sized model show it off. I love what you do !
It accentuates the tummy, which is exactly the opposite of what the intention was… Pretty though!
This dress can create a pot belly look if someone is healthy. You can try laying skirt type gown style in lower part to create both belly pouch covering and also princess look
I love all your designs, and I can’t even begin to explain why…. Well, okay maybe i can.
You always have fun with the dress making process- it puts a smile on my face when you model and twirl around in the fabric.
Whenever you make a dress for a specific person, you pour so much love into the dress and it shows.
Seriously, you’ve worked so hard on your craft and it’s clear you absolutely love what you do.
I hope you always have a smile on your face and joy in your heart with every stitch.
Generally for women, a figure conscious dress is structured and has sturdier fabric where you want it to keep you held in and more of the stretch along the sides. Something that holds you in can be comfortable if it also lets you move. This dress is absolutely beautiful, and your heart is in the right place.
This would really emphasise the bloat. Best option is to 1. Accept that stomachs stick out and 2. Wear a dress that's not fitted, so something like an aline skirt
Absolutely breathtaking. Well done!
I bought a pregnancy dress.
When i bloat up there is space! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@Ytdeletesallmycomments I still wear one of my maternity dresses, despite no longer being pregnant. It's just so cute and comfortable!
I don't know how I would feel about snug fitting dress if I was self conscious about being bloated. I'd be worried that it will only emphasise it tbh.
Love it, especially the shorter version ❤❤❤
Absolutely gorgeous!!
This dress is very pretty. And it is something that I would want to be able to wear. But I do have two issues with it purely based on the “anyone can wear it” claim. The ruching around the stomach is only going to emphasise as the fabric pulls around larger or bloated stomachs creating that pregnant look. And as a woman who has to wear a bra (dd+ problems) the one strap thing is incredibly impractical for me.
You have a problem with bloating? Let’s just make a tight dress with ruching on the sides so it look like maternity wear! There, solved 😂
Wth? I wish maternity wear would look that good 😂
@mb2770 was thinking the exact same😂 I still think its pretty though
I was like nooo the shiny fabric it's gonna show everything lmao
Its called 'stretch velvet' for a reason
@@fredlip-biting3880 Sweetheart, the stretch makes it WORSE. When your stomach bloats and distends, the ruffles smoothen out and the stretchy material lets it distend even more which in turn makes the ruffles even smoother. So your stomach ends up being incredibly obvious because the ruffles just suddenly stop right where the bloating is.
Love the dress and the nail polish color for today. God Bless you for spreading so much joy and kindness. ❤❤❤
Gorgeous! Perfect for fully enjoying all that is available!!!!
Gorgeous dresses,& i adore velvet.these will look amazing on someone on the thinner side & maybe at a cocktail party where they go light on food. but i think that style will emphasis the stomach area more if you intend on sitting down to eat a regular size meal.
Absolutely love the dress but I could never wear it. It would enhance every part of me that I hate.
I need that dress! ❤
I want both of these. I love the stretch huntress dress... so cute
This is not a good design for bloating problems. A dress that hides the stomach would be better
This is super gorgeous and I love the different lengths available but it would definitely accentuate a bloated belly at an event 😮
Thank you for always being so considerate to all
We all aren't super thin
Appreciate you & what yoy do
Much love, happiness & success!!!
Every time you look at the camera and smile while sewing, I melt. Your so cute.
Lmao what?? How does this do anything other than emphasize bloating?
That dress would literally be my worst nightmare if I was bloated...
Love the red dress and the shorter version rocks, too!🥰😍💘
They look gorgeous on the model.
Anything Would look good on that body.
I wear babydoll dresses to weddings. I look like a child walking in and a pregnant lady walking out 😂😂😂
If I’m worried about bloating this is the opposite style I would reach for. That’s going to emphasize the bloating.
Overall, great dress for a wedding and would definitely wear (with shape wear)
Fantastic job! I'm in awe.
I Absolutely LOVE this dress, especially the color!!!❤😊
I really wanted to tell you that I would have quit my dream if sewing because I didn't have any love 💔 but when I found your UA-cam channel it makes me happy to watch these videos and keeps me sewing and doing my passion thank you❤
My prom dress had an empire waist and it was the best decision ever! You couldn’t see that food baby from the buffet we went to, and there was absolutely no discomfort or feelings of restriction.
I fully thought he would make a dress with an empire waist
btw just hopping on this comment as a trans woman who wears dresses to say empire waists are rly great for us ok thank you for letting me attend and leave an enthusiastic review of your ted talk
Red burgundy with the ribbing oh my goodness sakes that is so beautiful beautiful beautiful
What would you dress Roseanne Barr in
Seven life to spring peepers are cherry blossoms blossoming in Illinois love and life love your show your a spectacular🎉
💋💋🌻🌻
I love the way it drapes . So elegant
The best dress I wore to a wedding was a black dress from Zara, which is „loose“ at the top and bottom and has a more firm corset style thing below the boob area. Because it is more tight at the middle in contrast to top and bottom I looked snatched all night and didn’t even have to suck in 😊 also got lots and lots of compliments for it
❤
One thing I want to say is Stretch velvet while I think is so adorable is literallly unwearable for me. Up until I turned 30 It didn’t bother me but then, synthetic highly plastic fabrics just became so uncomfortable.. possibly in part due to a weight gain. I would love to really learn to sew with a aewing machine; mostly so I could choose my own fabrics. I live for an all natural fabric because they breathe. They are usually more expensive and difficult to find in the stores I can’t wear anything that is less than 98% natural in the summer.
I'm a nurse. 99.9% of all nursing scrubs are that shitty fabric that old lady scarves are made of. I hate it!!
I've given quite a few shops shit for turning their ENTIRE inventory over to that crap. I've cited the exact reason you stated....being unable to wear it. Not to mention, I live in a city with winter 7-8 months a year. Synthetics don't hold in body heat!
I would love to wear this dress; beautiful & comfy!! The long version would make me feel amazing
You are so kind and you listen to people!
I own a dress that to me is perfect for bloating/eating a lot at a wedding. The fabric is stiff with ruffles and flowers that fall over the front so it also has details over the belly area. It is also quite comfortable, but with a stiff material, I assume it needs to be tailored well for your body.
G, you're a genius! 👏🏿👏🏿👍🏿
So happy to see your page growing,as it should! Xoxo!💋
Dang I love the dresses you make. You’re so creative and I love it!
Very old design, I was wearing this in the early eighties, and in the same material lol
I learned from a larger lady to buy a dress that skims and isn't tight. A tight dress will hide nothing while a dress that skims will flatter your figure.
That green one.... OH MY GOĎD!! 😲🤗🤗🤗🥰🇬🇧
I LOVE that you make patterns in a wide variety of sizes. I would love to see you make a dress for a plus sized woman...18/20 and see her model it. Being able to design to flatter larger sizes is not easy. I think Eloquii does a great job of it.
I was watching a show about couples planning their weddings on a budget and one of the brides said that she wanted her wedding to have small cupcakes instead of a wedding cake and her reasoning was:
“Nobody ever eats the cake because people will judge you if you walk up and take a whole slice of cake and eat it. They’ll be like “OMG I can’t believe they’re actually eating the cake!” But if I serve small cupcakes then they can just discreetly pop one in their mouth without anyone noticing and they won’t be judge.”
I had never heard anything like that before or knew that was a reason why people don’t eat wedding cakes. It almost made me cry because as someone who has struggled with an ED for over a decade and has probably thought and said something similar to her words, I realized how my reasoning and “eating rules” must have sounded to others. It just so happens that she was a plus sized model. Although there’s nothing wrong with that, she was nowhere near plus sized. She was tall but not plus sized. It made me wonder if she ever experienced judgement working in her line of profession or something that would cause her to reason the way she did. Why are we so hard on ourselves when it comes to something that’s not only normal, but needed to survive?
I watched a documentary on plus sized models and the standards even for those models are ridiculous. It makes me sad how society has created all these stupid rules on how you're suppose to appear even when it's pretending to be more inclusive
That just makes me so sad. That she just automatically assumes that kind of judgement will be flowing around... it makes me sad, but also I recognize the vein of thought from my own internal dialogue that is extremely self-critical and self-judgemental. Maybe that's why it makes me so sad...
I am thin ,been so my whole life, the reason I don’t eat wedding cake is that it is most often dry or stale & the frosting that tastes like crisco shortening.
@@blazefairchild465 My number one reason to deny cake is if it has that cover thing. You know. The one that feels like a weird attempt at making arts and crafts glitter paper edible 😂
I love your passion for fashion and kindness…I also love your sweet, calming voice ❤
I LOVE the short version. Your work is always so stunning!!
Ugh if I was an a list celeb I’d have you doing ALL my dresses. Love your work Gunnar 💕💕💕
I would love to have a summer dress for Florida beach events, but doesn’t suffocate in the heat! Maybe sleeveless or with flutter sleeves
This dress in a light jersey?
Maybe this dress in an ity or dty. Bamboo could work too. Those have less structure so it would flow more but breath well.
How do you keep your nails so fabulous? You’re constantly using your hands and never have a thread snag. Amazing!
Might be 'shellac' or gel! Looks like it to my untrained but typically well pampered eye..
You are so pretty. You are always smiling thank God he blessed us with you❤️
That long version dress is gorgeous!
My wedding is in two weeks! (I currently have the flu because we planned it in three months and the stress levels are so real - I’m a recovering addict, I’ve been through things, but this is something else 😂) my dress is full vintage lace with a boned lace back corset and she is so easy and beautiful to move in! The one thing I’ve felt the most positive about is my dress ❤
I’d die to wear a dress you’ve made though 🥰
Lauren please take time to lay down drink lots of water, chicken soup, juice, simple diet….meditate or read a little book of beautiful thoughts. Know that all is well. You have achieved so much good in your life.🙏🌟 you are loved, and cherished❤🌟. Accept all the good. You deserve it✨🌸
Sending you lots and lots of love and hugs ✨✨🎉
Have a great wedding!!
Congrats on both things ❤🎉
Be MOST positive about your beautiful strength as you have eliminated a monster named drugs.....Be NEXT excited about Friday nding a loving mate for your great life. That vintage dress will look amazing on you and I HONESTLY poo ray to God that your marriage bring you all joy and God most of all. Congratulations
A CORSET?! Girl, I haven't even seen the dress and I know it's gorgeous. Corsets are just something else lol
Gorgeous I think this is the color my daughter wants for her sister’s wedding!
Thank you!!
Your talent amazes me!!
I love wedding cake! Thank you, Gunnar!! 😂❤️🤗
I always go for a tea length or short align skirt that starts right around the stomach/hip area, don’t gotta worry about bloating cause the skirt covers it and it’s super fun to dance in
If you haven't already, you have to attend a Nigerian wedding cos the food is on point 👌✨
I just had my dad take me to hobby lobby to get fabric and a sewing kit. I learned to hand sew when I was 7. I recently wanted to make my own dress for church because you have inspired me to do so. Thank you for the inspiration.
Oh my goodness it’s lovely and so figure flattering!
Wow, that’s absolutely stunning!!
Gunnar, this is *GORGEOUS!* This is something I'd wear, and I personally like sleeves because it just feels modest, but I love the asymmetrical look! It looks absolutely *STELLAR!*
On the east coast, we would pass out from the humidity in either version of this dress made in that fabric. Got any recommendations for a cooler fabric that would work well for this dress in more humid climates during wedding season?
Yeah my first thought was I would die in velvet 😂
I’m hopeless at sewing, but I do knit and crochet so I’ve spent some time looking into the best yarn for different weather. The best fabrics for humidity seem to be one’s made from natural fibers. Like linen or cotton, these fabrics are more breathable, and can even be sweat wicking whereas polyester will trap in heat and sweat. I feel like linen and cotton would have a hard time ruching tho. I think silk or a chiffon might be the best?
@@lavenderoh During wedding season in the Mid-Atlantic, can you imagine? 😬😅
@@wormcrimetime2890 My first thoughts were woven textiles, too, but I’m not sure cotton or linen would be great choices for this ruched style. A summer weight silk, maybe??? I just don’t have enough experience with silk to guess how it would perform ruched like that.
I need a forgiving, lightweight, stretch silk that magically wicks away sweat. That’s all. 😂
@@chrissihr1031 cotton does ruche reasonably well but I definitely second the options of either chiffon or silk - they have the luxurious drapiness that the velvet gives whilst still keeping you cool. Fun fact though: chiffon is more of a style of weaving fabric than a fibre type so you can absolutely get silk chiffon or cotton chiffon!
nude-coloured undies would be a must with sheer and semi-sheer fabrics like that though - don't wanna risk upstaging the bride with a nip slip 😳
I love this. The burgundy color is beautiful
Gorgeous !
Us larger gals would be stunning in this dress. You are an awesome designer and such a blessing to all !
This is so cute❤
Something I would love to see is a dress that is meant to flatter a male body shape, without having that suit shape.
I love these. You look so happy.
it’s so elegant and pretty i love the design for both the short and longer 🤍
You are such a considerate person, I love that you use your wonderful talent to make people feel good ❤
I’ve always heard you’re supposed to be careful wearing red to a wedding or to ask the bride if it’s ok because a lot of people believe you shouldn’t wear red to a wedding since it’s such a sexy/attention grabbing color
I haven't really heard that one before. Personally the color is less important than how expensive/fancy the dress is. Like you can't wear a prom dress to a wedding no matter the color. But white dresses are off the table no matter what.
Oh my, those are beautiful dresses, and yes, ruching helps so much!
LOVELY, STUNNING!!!
I love this. I think it would be beautiful in black velvet.
Or midnight blue,...
A royal purple or a deep blue would look beautiful too.
I never thought that those dresses are flattering...i feel like its quite the opposite. Best is something wider on the stomach for me, so i can eat looots of food hehe
STUNNING as always!! 😊💜
