    Hi from NZ,
When this video came on Miss Cindy's bread was churning away in the bread maker.
You are right it was very sad the last year and stressful recently as well for yourselves and beloved Granny ❤
I think Miss Cindy would be tickled pink to know that people all over the world are making her bread recipe and falling it Miss Cindy's bread , and we didn't even really know her, but we know how much she was loved , and that's the main thing ❤
Godbless, hoping for a Peaceful, Healthy Summer for you all with the arrival of the new Grand baby 👶

Wow your garden is like looking inside a grocery store of vegetables and fruit. It's amazing. I'm a city girl & my husbands grandparents had a big garden they grew just about everything. One time they ask if I wanted to help with corn it was ready. I didn't know what I was getting into. They told me well we have to go and pick out of the garden & told me to watch for snakes that freaked me out then I was told we had to shuck it, then they had these little scrub brushes to get the strings off then we washed it, then we cut it off the cob then we did what they called milking the cob, then we blanched it & put it in the freezer. We put up 200 quarts of corn that day then the next day same thing except they left it on the cob. They had 2 big freezers. That same summer she taught me how to put up dill & bread& butter pickles. They grew plums, muskodine grapes she taught me how to make jam & jelly. They even had chickens, cow & pigs. It was an experience I will never forget some 50 yrs ago.

I live on my own so my garden is all me and I do get overwhelmed by all the chores. Every year though I still want to try more and grow everything! My joy comes when a plant blooms and makes a fruit/vegetable that I can eat knowing the only hands that have touched it are my own. Thanks for sharing the journey!

I understand exactly how you feel. I live on my own and feel just like that when something blooms and makes something that I'll eat knowing I'm the only one ever touched it especially if it's from a plant I seed saved from. I love it but Lord I believe it's going to be the death of me there's always so much to do especially heating with wood and It's hard to find anyone to do work anymore too.

Do you like asparagus? If you do, it might make your garden chores easier in the future if you plant a large bed area of asparagus and strawberries intermingled. They grow really well together and both are perennials. Every year delicious food with a little maintenance but, no planting. We've done that in 2 places. So rewarding! Just an idea that has helped us since I consistently overwhelm myself by wanting to plant every seed in every corner to bring forth the life He has made possible to us for nourishment of body and soul growing in His likeness. Miracles are wonderful things!

Hi Tipper! I am really enjoying your garden and the way
They are growing. Keep up the good work I am following you all this year in growing my garden. This is a good year and doing the same as you I wish I had a greenhouse maybe one day I will get one but I have blueberry bush. And it’s only the second year for it and what I did is I turn a tomato cage upside down and put the clear Burpee planters ,that you get your plants in, around the blueberries. I put the holes on the steaks that would go up instead of down and put the berries inside the clear cups and it’s kinda deters the birds they don’t see them

We use our garlic scapes to make pesto. My husband pickles or ferments scapes which are really good in egg salad, stirfriy, fritattas, quesadillas, etc. They are also good in yogurt sauces with falafel. I always pick the scapes before they get too tough. You don't want them to start to make the seeds/flower. And once you pick the scapes the energy will go down to the bulb and it will grow bigger.

    • @NancySutherland

Tipper I lived in Alabama 30 years, the soil there loves pine needles. In the spring everyone is going to Lowe’s , Walmart or wherever pine straw is sold. Flowers there especially all bushes that needs acid. If you have pine trees rake up underneath and put around your garden.or flowers. Maybe if there is anyone from Alabama reading this you might can tell Tipper more to help her out.

Tipper, yours and Matts garden is looking so good. I'm here in Florida's Space Coast area and we are in a major drought. It has been months since we have had a good soaking rain. When it does rain it is so hard and fast that it just runs off and doesn't have time to soak into the soil. Plus, Sat is the start of hurricane season. Enough of my complaining. Really enjoy watching your wonderful videos of living in the mountains and wish that I was back there myself. Stay safe and harvest plenty of great fruits and vegetables this year. Prayer and best wishes to Granny.

Tipper, I reckon many of us relate to your remarks about that time when everything in the garden is at its most beautiful. Ours here in north central Texas was a few weeks ago, the zenith of beauty in the garden beds around our house. It's lasting a tad longer thanks to abundant rain (praise God). Now here comes the plague of grasshoppers. They've been terrible for about...this'll be the 4th year. I don't throw a bunch of pesticide, concerned about it affecting the hummers (hummingbirds) I'm obsessed with attracting and keeping. I LOVE the way your gardens look, get so much inspiration and great tips. So grateful for your family's channels, y'all have become dear to me like I know ya. As always, THANK YOU. 🙌🏼 💞

If you eat Italian food and you grow basil, you could cook a big panful of bolognaise sauce with rich tomatoes, and if you grow basil, you could tear some fresh basil leaves into the finished sauce. So delicious with pasta and some crunchy garlic baguette!! So comforting and delicious, makes my mouth water just talking about it!! I love your garden, I don’t have one and I’ve got garden envy!! All those delicious vegetables and herbs. Can’t beat freshly homegrown veg, and so healthy and organic - no pesticides used. 😊

Thanks for sharing! We grow a lot of herbs, micro/mini tomatoes and peppers in our greenstalks and bush beans. They are on the patio outside the mud room door. The mud room is off the kitchen so, they work great for fresh eating/ cooking throughout the growing season. At the end of season, the herb plants are pulled and hung in the mud room to dry then jarred and used out-of-season. Some varieties we use are tomatoes; orange hat, micro tom, tiny tom, peppers; kitchen minis, snackables, pot-a-peno. There are other varieties too.

Tipper, everything is beautiful! You and Matt have accomplished so much, not just for yourselves, but, for all of your precious family!
If you have access to pine needles, you should mulch everything with them, thick enough to smother some of your weeds. Use them to line in between your rows to walk on. You’ll always have a supply of mulch, and way better for your dirt. The brown ones are the best, so they won’t be so sticky!

I bought lambs quarter from my gardener. She said it is native to Alabama. Tastes like a mild spinach. Very tender and quick cooking.

Beautiful garden. I can't wait to see your bountiful harvest. I believe those scapes on your garlic should be removed in order for the plant to put all its energy into the head of garlic below ground instead of its energy into flowers for seeds.

Your garden is awesome. My husband bought me some rased beds but he passed away in April so I hope next year. I had so many things to do and I still work so God bless you all.

Tipper, check with Meg at Hollar Homestead, for the onions and garlic, she is great, also, ground coffee is great to protect your veggies from cut worms and certain pests. I use coffee grounds on all of my plants. Garden is beautiful, God bless you and your family.

Everything is looking great. I love this time of year in my garden. From the looks of your garlic scapes, now is the time to cut them. Cut them at the place that they appear from the leaves. Dont wait till the flower head gets developed or they will not be tender. You can make a puree with cheese and olive oil just like basil pesto. They can be chopped and frozen like green onions. I use mine in spaggetti sauce.

Yes, pick those garlic scapes! Slightly milder garlic flavor and can be used just like garlic. My favorite way to use them is to make garlic butter. I make as much as I can and store it in the freezer to ration out until the next scape season. I also freeze dry some to make garlic salt. Yum!!
You need to get them off the plant so the energy is forced into the bulbs instead of the flowers. 😉 Thanks for the tour of your beautiful garden!!

    I love having a garden.
My whole life my family had a huge one
    We all snapped beans
and worked in it & canned what we could.
So exciting watching the growing steps of it all. My garden now days is very small.in my few raised beds i have to be careful not to over plant. So hard. Lol
    Enjoyed your garden tour.

Everything looks great. I have seen videos where people take the scapes dehydrate them and make a garlic powder. Also I have seen them make a pesto and freeze it too. Hope everything keeps growing and thriving. Yall have a blessed night.

I love garlic scapes! They need picked off because they take energy from the bulb and it won't grow as big. It's a bonus crop! I chop them and saute them and this year I made a wonderful pesto that I spread on burgers, or pizza or wherever I want a nice garlic flavor.

you can use the garlic scapes anywhere you would use garlic you can slice them up like green onions and saute them add them to stir fries or scrambled eggs you can also pickle them like you would pickle a green bean.
