Do you like the box method to draw the head? I’ve been learning about it and it’s much easier to get difficult angles compared to the Loomis method because you’re using a box so you’re always get the perspective right. I find using the Loomis method is much faster though, because with the box method, there’s extra steps you have to round out the box, but I find it really beneficial to get really hard angles that you don’t see every day
@@williammclean6594 I like the box method, that’s great! Yeah, the Loomis method is good in some ways but it’s definitely not perfect and it really doesn’t work for some people. I don’t use the box method very often but it sounds like a fun thing to explore.
@@benjaminkent-draws I use the Loomis method for most everything, but except when it's a really hard perspective angle because Spears don't really communicate that well in difficult perspective compared to boxes. But when I do want to practice boxes I use the box method and do a bunch of heads. Boxes are actually pretty hard to draw for being pretty simple. I still struggle with rotating them so I just draw heads with boxes to make it more fun when I'm practicing.
@@williammclean6594 I love it! This is some great problem solving and yes, even the simplest shapes can be difficult to draw in perspective. I know Jung Gi liked to teach that approach by drawing the boxes first in perspective and then putting the bodies inside the boxes. I’ve more anatomy and general perspective to study before I can do that good at all 😂
@@benjaminkent-draws yeah, that exercise is pretty advanced. Jung gi was a master drawer. Probably because he probably spent a lot of hours drawing everyday. It's all about mileage. I'm sure there's some natural talent in there as well. Some people can just focus on one thing for hours. I got ADHD so I find it really hard to concentrate even with medication on something for very long without taking lots of short breaks
Watched your “how to draw the face from any angle video” and was happy to see you made a 3/4 view video too! Found a new favorite artist on UA-cam!
@@thurstonliptrot6593 wow, I don’t know what to say. Thank you, truly!
