  • The inaugural lecture of the USC Shoah Foundation’s Antisemitism Lecture Series featured Dr. Dov Waxman, Professor of Political Science and Director of UCLA’s Nazarian Center for Israel Studies. Dr. Waxman lectures on his co-authored article, Arguing about antisemitism: why we disagree about antisemitism, which examines why criticism of Israel, definitions of antisemitism, and identifying acts as antisemitic have all become contentious issues.

In my opinion a far, far, far stronger stance must be taken against antisemitism, racism, and fascism in this country.

Like what? Arrest people who don't meet the standard, whatever that standard is? Take away their property? Ship them off to be re-educated? You probably see where I'm going with this. You can't force people to think different without losing your own moral position. Having travelled around the world a lot and spent a lot of time in many different countries, I think the USA is in fact one of the most liberal countries out there and for sure one that actually tries to address issues with prejudice. You'd be surprised at what countries are viewed by people in the US as being progressive thinking in regards to addressing prejudices but in fact do nothing. Of course, I do not know which country you are referring to when you say "this country", but I'm assuming it's the US. Personally, I think the Us has made constant improvement on trying to be inclusive, to the extreme really, where people are taking inclusivity to the extreme. I personally do not think that racism or antisemitism is anywhere near the norm, it appears to me to be a tiny subset of the population that holds racist views, regardless of skin tone, ethnic background, etc.
