the MAC guns are actually fascinating
The basically utilise a series of magnetic coils to fire a solid tungsten or depleted uranium slug at incredible speeds, giving it a staggering amount of kinetic energy. Ship-based MACs tend to fire 600-ton slugs at 30km per second, whereas those mounted of defense platforms fire 3,000 ton slugs at 12,000km per second, or 4% the speed of light.
The novels detail the technology quite well. A standard shipboard MAC usually takes 2 or 3 shots to dissipate the shields of a Covenant ship, whereas the MK V "Supermac" found on defense platforms can punch a hole straight through a supercarries with it's shields fully charged. A round from a MK V was once recorded as punching straight through 2 Covenant ships and getting embedded in a third, crippling it whilst knocking out the first 2.
The Infinity is known to carry an even more powerful gun, capable of creating a crater several miles wide and a shockwave that will knock in-atmosphere ships out of the air. The details of the gun are as of yet unknown.
Most UNSC ships and stations are actually built around their MAC guns. For example, the modified MAC in the Pillar of Autumn takes up about 3/4 of the ship's length and about half it's height.
+Noah Gawthorn You know when the UNSC first ran into the covenant the MAC was the only weapon they had against them in space battles unless they were to board their cruisers, that was due to the shielding of the covenant cruisers. They would fire the MAC then the round would go so fast that the shield couldnt protect the ship enough so the round would hit then fuse through not doing as much damage as it would do without a shield but still alot of damage. That should give some perspective on how strong it is. And you can also compare it to its counterpart the railgun, except the MAC fires MASSIVE rounds and fires them magnetically as railguns fire projectiles electrically.

The way they work (from my understanding at least) is that along the 'barrel' there are multiple Magnetic Coils. The giant sphere of A Titanium rests all the way at the back, and the first Magnetic Coil attracts it, before shutting down, then the next one activates, pulling it even faster, and then the next and then the next until it exits the barrel at incredible speed
Also The MAC Gun the Infinity Boasts is a 'Series 8 MAC Gun' informally known as the 'Super Heavy Mac' although it is unspecified, I believe it's as fast as anywhere in between a staggering 10% to 35% percent of the speed of light. And if a mere ODP (Orbital Defense Platform) can puncture 3 ships and destroy two of them, while severely harming the last, i can't imagine what these new MACs can possibly do. The only known ship to survive was the Didact's ship (The Mantle, I think. I know it's the device everyone fought over but eh, I dunno) and that was some next level forerunner (I know that's not how it's spelt) shit.

The largest MACs the UNSC uses are those super MACs in HALO 2, which fire a 3,000 ton projectile at roughly 4.2% the speed of light. The kinetic energy of these rounds is roughly 215,890,000,000,000,000,000 joules, or 51,600 megatons.
By comparison the Tsar Bomba was about 51 megatons.
Meaning these rounds possess over 1,000 times more energy than the Tsar Bomba.
Although the UNSC also possesses the Nova bomb, and I suggest you read the HALO books to learn about that, and what happens to it.
But basically it's a bomb with 2.6 billion megatons of explosive force.

diplex I have a idea for the next time you do the post apocalyptic series you should have New Russia or old Russia whatever you want to call it attack the commonwealth or New order because they want to establish a control over the wasteland and reestablish the Russian government and reform Russia I think it could add a lot to the story :D

Seraphs are on Halo: Reach. You fight them on the mission that you actually get to pilot a Longsword for.

all the unsc ships dont have health because they are long range thats why the mac cannon shoots from so far , but the covenant is close range
UNSC was never really able to win the space engagements say for a few, but the UNSC didn't build many cruisers as their frigates were just as effective

U can't have a battle above installation 04 without the legendary Pillar of Autumn surviving ship of Reach and it is also piloted by the epic Captian Jacob Keys famous for the Keys loop mentioned in Fall of Reach book

MAC Cannons basically fire a massive metal slug at high speed with high accuracy, and no recoil. Anyone that says there is recoil obviously don't understand physics. And Longswords only have a pilot and co-pilot.
The covenant ship you don't know is from halo 2 hanger battle on the fournner station and halo reach beach assault
Wave 12 was a massive Zerg Rush.
Also wave 14.
You briefly see Seriphs in cutscene being chased by longswords in Halo 2. So yes they are cannon.
+Palmerrip The seraph is also in the actual game...There's one on the mission named "The Oracle" in Halo 2 which is the sixth mission to the game. You see it when you are about to start fighting the Heretic leader. You also see it briefly within Halo 3 on the first cut scene on the mission named "The Ark", which is also the sixth mission too. There's also a third and obvious time you can see the known seraphs and that is in Halo Reach on the level named "Long Night Of Solace"...so yeah they are most definitely cannon dude. I would have used these sources but, eh people work in different ways I suppose. Just thought I'd help ^^

They come out in a space mission in halo reach. You won't notice them because you'll be too busy fighting them off but at some point the colonel says they are coming, and if you replay the mission in theater you'll see em clearly!

The balls of lights coming out of the covie ships are guided plasma torpedos and halo lore says one volley can destroy 5 ships because they melt through the unsc's titanium grade A battle plates causing the crew to "cook" and the reactor to over heat and we all know how big reactors explosion can be EX: the pillar of autumns explosion on 04 completely obliterating the ring sooo ya don't get hit by plasma oh and that's why the unsc always had to outnumber the cov to even have a chance to win
And on the pillar of autumn it's MAC shot 3 time in a row two shots to kill shields and the 3rd to damage the ship itself.

The only way to beat the Covenant in open space as the UNSC is to have at least a 3 to 1 majority.
Even that doesn't work. Almost a thousand UNSC vessels fought 600 Covenant at Reach. They still lost.
Kane It was actually 152 UNSC ships along with the orbital MAC guns against 750 covenant ships. So the outcome was never in doubt.

Neither, basically it's a "Magnetic Accelerator Cannon". At the back of the barrel is a giant Sphere of A Titanium which is pulled by a Magnetic Coil, it then stops and a second magnetic coil pulls it even faster and so on. Until it exits the barrel at amazing speeds. The heaviest MAC round is 30,000 TONS PLUS and its fastest is at 20% to 60% the speed of light (theoretically speaking)

wow not sure if you were aware of this but you lied in you title. instolation 04 is delta halo. a,b,c,d. 04=delta as in the halo found in halo 2. now were not "told" wich halo ring the one from halo 1 is but in halo 3 you see all 7 halos in a line in the "ark's control room" and in this room the 5th halo ring is destroyed, in the same way the one from halo one was destroyed so its common thought that halo one's ring was echo.

10 mac rounds to a ring would do nothing =P 1. They are HHHUUUUGGGEE 2. Forerunner Materials are strong 3. any sort of defence possibilities, most likely shielding of some sort, so, not with 10, not with 100 or even a 1000 probably XD
True, but the newest MAC Cannon which is called "Series 8 MAC" can creat a crater several miles long on an armored piece of land! So I'm'a guess it'd take a few hundred to bust a hole through Halo
Ps. It's the MAC the Infinity uses, the only ship known to survive it is the Didact's Ship
And if The infinity nearly busted a hole through the ship in one hit, which mind you is much thicker than the halo, PLUS, it's made by the same people!
So, my guess is possibly a few dozen hits would make a hole, though I could be just bullshitting

Actually it's bigger. I used the halo wiki dimensions of the GA-TL1 Longsword and compared it with the median measurements from Wikipedia (yes I know, not very reliable however it's just measurements) of all variants of the Boeing-747

As well as I think halo legends in the package section, they are far better than banshees as banshees are mostly air to ground and atmosphere, whereas seraphs are air superiority

The first Seraph you see is in Halo 2 when your playing as the Arbiter and attacking the heretics.

UNSC generally need 3/1 odds to beat the Covenant, and they still take heavy losses. Especially since the CSS in the beginning was point blank it's why the Marathon was lost.

So anyone who likes HALO must know a lot? I like it but I don't know much.
A bit of a recommendation for future battles as the UNSC, I highly recommend you use the Marathon-Class Heavy Cruisers for ship-on-ship combat, despite what occurred at first, their your best bet when going against Covenant ships.
Could you please turn up the volume of the game I love hearing the effects of the game.

+DiplexHeated with the unsc you need lots of macs so build cheap ships like the paris light frigate and such also i think the bigger ships ( frigate tab, cruiser tab, and capital ship tab) lose accuracy while moving like when you were moving the star destroyers in the star wars vid but i may be wrong

***** the "ya nerd" bit was sarcastic. Don't be an ass. Also the Pillar of Autumn most certainly WAS a Halcyon class. The Halcyon class cruiser was very outdated by the late was and the Autumn was pulled out of a scrap yard and heavily modified to be a unique and effective ship. It's all explained in the novels.

The reason longswords are so big is because, yes, they are piloted by like ten people. In the halo games they were used as sub-nuclear bombers, air raid target designaters, and are the vehicles that drop the weapon drops through out the halo games, mainly halo reach firefight.
The Pillar of autumn was (to my knowledge) a Halycon ( feel free to correct spelling on that :)) class cruiser. The beauty of such a ship was it's honeycomb design. The ship was constructed using a honeycomb style from the front, because of this the ship's structural integrity was outstanding. This was part of the reason (along with the wit and cunning of its captain) was why the pillar of autumn was able to escape the battle of reach on a random jump vector. They then miraculously ended up at the first HALO ring. And thus halo 1 began. And is also why the autumn is seen "warping" into the shot in the beginning cutscenes.
MAC rounds are basically giant bullets propelled by magnets...I think

Longswords can hold up to 4-5 people, more a bit more. But it needs to be piloted by two men.

Don't blame the Marathons for dying quickly. You don't see the Completely OP amount of fire comeing off of the Covenant ships? Its honestly completely rediculas.
Homefront Dev: Build Hammerheads and Hermes to take out Seraph spam. It exists to mix things up, but it's not impossible. Those two ships have heavy anti-fighter flak guns.
Longswords are just a bit smaller than a Boeing 747 and have a crew of 4, Pilot, Co, and two flight engineers. They are meant for space so size is not much of an issue though they are a lot more maneuverable than they look. They can also carry ordnance in bays such as bombs and missiles in addition to its massive machine cannons
Of course they die easily. NONE of the human ships except for the infinity have shields (at least in the lore).
The covenant plasma cannons just rip right through the armor.
