I lost all my fears from almost dying. It taught me that life is very short, can end at anytime, and fear and doubt are great killers of the human spirit. Don't waste your life wishing you asked pretty girls out, just do it. There are far more things to be afraid of.

I’ve never been a good fighter so I invested money and time into boxing 1v1 sessions and classes and have gotten into weapons training. The confidence of knowing what you’re capable of diminishes that fear.

I didn't understand what it was like to have no fear. It took chronic kidney failure to act towards women with no fear. There was nothing they could do that could come close to the other shit I was dealing with. During that time when I was the sickest, I got laid more than I ever had in my life. That was an important lesson.

That one guy who emailed you needs to do the following: Buy a pull up bar, and do 3 sets of 10 pull ups and push ups every day. I do 200 pull ups and 200 push ups every other day (to let my muscles recover) and I'm in the best shape of my life. I also feel very secure of my ability to defend myself.

The biggest thing that helps me with anxiety is shifting/changing my mindset from being hunted by my fears and responsibilities (what most rational fears are) to being the "hunter" and approaching my problems on my own terms. Waking up early and getting up on your first alarm really helps because I feel like I can tackle the day right on from the start. When I sleep in I wake up in an anxious state because I'm running away already.

Agoraphobia is a serious problem that you need to work on daily, pickup can be part of that.. in fact it helps immensely.. but with anxiety of being out amongst people you need to GO OUT EVERYDAY even if it has to be with people or a counselor at first.. your brain becomes desensitized to the fact that the public is safe 99% of the time

if you’re going to learn martial arts pick one that is actually effective like boxing, jiu jitsu, kick boxing or muy thai. aikido will not teach or how to throw a punch or defend yourself against a take down. i would argue that jiu jitsu is probably the best one to learn because most one on one fights end up on the ground at some point. its even effective for defending against punches and kicks

Krav maga is a gimmick. The stuff that works, is the stuff that has organically come to the forefront in MMA, because we found out real quick that it's the best... people who came ti MMA with gimmicks, got smashed. Maui thai, boxing, wrestling, BJJ... dont even bother with anything else, cos its gimmicky crap. I say this as a fighter.

I am a short 5’3 guy, walking home at 1am after work, with tips I made in my pocket
A guy gets out of his car, in an empty parking lot, right when I was about to pass his car, tall and strong, wearing a hoodie, I slowed my walking speed so I can let him go ahead of me, the guy turns back, I am looking into his eye
The guy says, what are you looking at?
I said “I am looking at you, because you were looking at me, isn’t it a normal thing to do?”
The guy stopped to think for a comeback, I made a safe distance between him and me.
I felt like James Bond, not giving a fuck about the aggressor, because the last thing I wanted is to get inside my head and get anxious. It loses you the fight

Why do men assume in order to be happy you have to have a woman? All women have ever done is shit on my party. You can’t pay me enough to have a relationship with a woman. I have my own successful business and I’m having the time of my life. Just spent eight weeks doing nothing but jeeping, camping outdoors and doing man things without some bitch Interfering! I have no drama policy, whether it comes to men or women, you cause shit! you’re out of my life! By doing this I have the best most reliable trustworthy friends and no deadbeats! This weekend I start another jeep trip for another four more weeks heading all over the west. Don’t get me wrong, I can have a pleasant conversation and even go out on a date with a Woman. But that’s as far as it will ever go!

Aikido for self-defense lol. Corey, you are awesome, but no one who has been in multiple blood-and-teeth-flying-everywhere fights gives that advice. Boxing, kick-boxing, BJJ and combat (not sports) karate rule that world. Watch some ufc. What works on trained killers is what works on everyone else. Otherwise, sound advice, that the guy should take up on some self defense class.

Guy's...DO NOT GO WITH AIKIDO. Lol. Aikido doesn't have a ground base to martial arts nor does it have proper punching techniques. There's a reason why it isn't used in mma. The movements are far too obvious and if you have a keen eye or even six months of mma experience, you're gonna fuck em up. Do Bjj or mma or boxing. Those are proven bases that have the most success in and out of the octagon.

Come on man! Akido? This is possibly the worst answer for what martial art to train. A small amount of research will confirm this.

I always have a lot better things to do than wander over to a mall to chat up random chicks. That seems like a purposeful waste of time...something a dude with no life does.

Aikido is horrible advice for a marital art choice. BJJ/Boxing or Muy Thai. Never once has Aikido worked in an actual fight.

Jesus! That aikido as a means for self-defense bullshit should be stopped finally. It may be a way for self-development (as a person), but in an actual situation all it brings is false confidence, and subsequently getting your ass kicked.

You hurt your credibility when you recommend a useless martial art like Aikido. I say this as a fighter. You dont see people in the UFC using Aikido. The stuff you wanna recommend is the stuff that works in reality, not in movies. Just knowing he has a robust arsenal of weapons, under a credible martial art would change his whole demeanor. I know this is a really old video, but for anyone watching this today, dont take up Aikido... it's useless.

Aikido is the worst martial art for self defense. Take boxing or kick boxing, then wrestling, bjj. Nobody in the UFC uses aikido for a reason. It's one of the least effective martial arts. Might as well spend your time on the more effective arts if you're going to do it.
