A huge reason people (mainly fangirls) love Loki's character so much is because he isn't quite a "villain" but he's not quite a "hero". Conflicts he goes through are, in ways, similar like what women go through, i.e. wanting to be recognized as an individual, etc. So, we can understand his emotions and what not. He's a very relatable character, and it's not because Tom Hiddleston is hot, but he does do an amazing job portraying the character.

Some are from deleted scenes like " Before the coronation " & " The extended scenes " where Thor flipped the dinning table after his fight with Odin, forbidding him to go to Jotunheim. In Thor, and then a little more hard core, but still in the Avengers, it's all he really wanted! SO, there's really nothing bad about falling for him :) Don't worry, I sorta did too.
