What a great reminder of the perspective that we should have as Christians. May we meet that challenge head on so that the world can see that we are different, not because of us, but because of the God who strengthens us. Thank you Pastor Mike for laying this out so well and clearly.
This virus/lockdown has certainly shaken us to fine-tune our focus on Christ and sharing the gospel. When I watch other Christians get distracted into conspiracy theories and anti-government marches, I'm reminded that we are citizens of heaven before we are citizens of a country and we have work to do no matter what is going on around us. This is the first time in my life when I have seen such a clear call to not get distracted from our purpose. I remember in one of the recent Q & A sessions, Stephanie remarked that those who listen to you do so because you give them God's truth; you don't sugar-coat it or fail to speak the whole counsel of God to us. I believe this is one of the many ways God strengthens us in the face of whatever comes - hearing God's truth spoken in love from our shepherds. May you experience the same grace and encouragement God showers on those you encourage.
thanks d.p -- I think its okay to protest peacefully and it is part of our Biblical duty to be good Bereans theologically and to act as wise shrewd citizens (like the shrewd fired estate manager Jesus commended) while we are marching through our earthly pilgrimage -think of the Civil Rights March, the underground railroad during the Civil war or the hiding place in Germany hiding Jews; so yes our focus is on heaven but we are called to be salt and light in this dark world.
