Beautiful human being and a great music lady. Those years in New Orleans were sublime, Sally. I keep painting purdy pictures and you keep making big smiles with your music!
Hey, sorry for the confusion. I sold the keyboard long ago, but was asked by someone a Kurz rep to leave the video up as he felt it was a good basic Kurz demo video.
My mentor in pro music gear, Garry introduced me to this. Oh, I have one of these. My old friend's wife felt it was too bulky. She preferred her Kawai K1 because it was compact. He ended up selling it to me really affordably. This was his plan I think. Amazing instrument. I feel so blessed. It's a real pig to move. Really heavy, really big but, really worth the effort.
Yes, the reason I traded up to the Kurzweil PC3K was because it is 20 lbs lighter, but in hindsight, I wish I had kept this 2500 for my studio and just used the PC3K for gigs because the 2500 was so much better for the studio.
Nice...she reminds me of a teacher..like working with pottery and what not...I think Kurzweil makes the best acoustic sound pianos..never had a 2500 0r 2600 but played one awhile back...she was throwing down some nice jazz licks...go mom
Excellent job Sally. For some reason it is difficult to find good demonstrations of the K2500X, however, you did a splendid job and play quite well too. A friend of mine recently gave me his K2500X which needed a keyboard bed. I found one and installed it myself and love the board! Now I need to "work it a bit" to get familiar with it. I understand that The Boston Pops used these up until 2009. Neat info there and quite the recommendation I would think. Well, keep up the good work hon and thank you for posting this video for us here. Play on...........
I really enjoyed this. As a demo/tutorial type of video, its very very good, and also it helped you to sell it, so it was also a good sales video. Nice!!!
All sounds, but the organs were stock on that keyboard. It's been over 10 years since I got rid of it, so I'm not sure. You would have to use a floppy disk I guess. I probably layered a couple of piano sounds in a setup to make it fatter. Sometimes I layer a piano sound an octave below and give it just a tad of volume. I sed a Kurz PC3K now.
Hey, sorry for the confusion. I sold the keyboard long ago, but was asked by a Kurz rep to leave the video up as he felt it was a good basic Kurz demo video.
Ive been thnking about a Kurzweil. I lile the way they can layer and assign many sections of the keyboard for diffrent sounds and also bring in sounds with the sliders. Rumor is Kurzweil might bring out a new model at NAMM 2012 winter.
Thiago, you do it when you create your own set-ups. Make a set-up of the sounds you want. Make sure they are on different midi channels. Scroll to get to faders A thru D or E thru H. In the midi info next to the slider info, pres the number 7 on your keypad and hit enter. That will make that slider a volume slider.
@birth1087 Motif and K2600xs are pretty similar since they are both workstations. In my opinion K2600xs is better, but some think that the motif is better. You can't really compare tyros or s90xs with the two mentioned above, since tyros is a arranger type of keyboard and s90xs is more or a stage piano with more sounds than usual stage pianos so it is more or less something between the stage piano and the workstation. I would get the kurzweil but you should consider your own needs :)
Hey, I don't know if this sounds stupid or not because I am new to the KURZWEIL 2500, but in 1998 the drummer & composer Stewart Copeland Composed to music for the video game Spyro The Dragon, & he used the KURZWEIL 2500 to compose the music, if you search "Copeland's interview of behind Spyro the Dragon music " You will see he uses this keyboard. I was wondering does this keyboard contain those sound used by Copeland ?
I have a 2500. How do I upload a standard Kurzweil piano sound to this thing? The stock sounds don’t sound good at all. Whatever sound you used at 0:50- lol I need that
Tom, I looked at the video. There is no way of knowing if all the sound came from the Kurzweil. He had his Kurz hooked into his computer and it looked like he was running a program from there. I will tell you that I used it for my last CD - mostly traditional sounds, but there are hundreds of weird sounds on it that I would never use and you can import samples as well.
This question does not have a difinitive answer. It depends upon your personal tastes and in what way you are going to use the keyboard. Generally, if you want a good keyboard, be prepared to spend some cash and to study the manual.
hi, im from brasil, i don't speak english... rsrs, but I wonder how you do to program each timbre in a slider, using it as volume...help me please!!! I've a k2600.
aguem pode me ajudar eu restei meu kurzweil k2500 depois disso o ribon encima da tecla pega apenas parte é o slides não funciona na função prog qual o caminha ?
I remember that it was very easy with the 2500...easier than with the 2600, but I think there are 2 versions - an older 2500, which changed one way and a newer 2500, which changed another way. Just unplug it and try to find the small slot where the battery goes.
Sally you look great even without makeup ....:) Well iam about to buy a used K2500 so will ask you a few questions, assuming there on board sounds right ?are they good sounding pianos and how many sounds, and last what is the use of the floppy disk at the top left side ????
To tell the truth, I can't remember much about it now. I moved on to the PC3K Kurzweil. I thought the discs were hard discs. It did have hundreds of great sounds as demonstrated in the demo above. I don't know why UA-cam says that video was published on March 1, 2010 because I left the house where it was filmed in 2009. You will just have to check out the keyboard you are interested in. Be sure to play EVERY note. I had to repair a bad contact in one of the keys once and it was such a pain. Had to take the whole keyboard apart to do it. Fortunately I had a friend who really knew what he was doing on the phone with me while I worked on it. Good luck.
To me the main issue with this keyboard is its weight. I don't know why is not made of aluminum. all the bottom is thick steel. You need two people to move it and a strong stand to hold it. I'm selling my one just because that. Sounds nice and warm. Organs sounds respond to sliders as drawbars.
self composed pattern maybe be cool. My idea, my work, my satisfaction. If it recognize chords changing - would be wonderful. Basic arranger (without variation, because it is synthesizer-workstation, not classic keyboard for dance). help us to teach jazz improvisation
i am from india here this brand kurzweil is not famous among keyboard players very few pro.studios knows or using this brand this company should open there sell and service centers in mumbai
Ok, I understand, but how do I create a new set-up? I bought my keyboard recently, so I still do not know him, and it seems a bit complicated to understand it. Do you have email? Pass me if you can.
Its English, you probably have a different name but the effect with remain. Sort of things like, you wait 30 minutes for a bus then 3 come at once. You never speed then one day by accident you do and theres a speed camera. Or you make a you tube vid for a few friends without make up and then half the world watched :)

Thank you for the kudos!

I really enjoyed watching this. You should create tutorial videos. Pity I missed the auction (over a year ago, LOL).
Beautiful ..and can play ! .. only in my dreams. play on... play on ~

You helped me allot. I have a k2500x and always confused how to use it,now I can start messing with it.
Really cool how carefree you just simply make great sounding music. :)
I really enjoyed this. As a demo/tutorial type of video, its very very good, and also it helped you to sell it, so it was also a good sales video. Nice!!!

That is one of the MANY factory sampled sounds. That keyboard sold long ago, but I was asked to leave the demo up.

thanks for your instructions. you are a very good keyboard player.
Really great demo, thanks for leaving it up :)
You urged me to look for another Kurzweil synthesizer. Man you can play those keys woman.

Almost 60,000 views. There had to be one negative one!
woooww ))))))
.....but if you'd put make up on you wouldn't have got the views. Sod's law as we call it in England. :)
Nice vid
I had never heard that expression - Sod's law, so I Wiki ed it. Interesting - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sod's_law. :)
