Congratulations, what a wonderful class, we are from Brazil - Japanese Brazilian Cultural Association of Bauru, State of São Paulo. We will learn a lot from you.
Every well-known bon/ondo dance has distinctive moves as they come from different regions and parts of Japan and refer to local culture/traditions/ways. Like the first song, Tankô Bushi (Coal miner's song) has moves which imitate coal mining. There are many moves which are "universal" and are often used as 'filler' between the song's themed move sequences. Bon dancing is interesting :)
I'm not japanese but I took my family to a bon dance. Honestly it was for the food but my kids ended up in the circle dancing. Enjoyed ourselves. I'll be ready at the next bon dance.
Excellent teacher! Clear and precise directions and easy to follow!
I love this tutorial!! And the teacher is so great! Thank you, YMCA, and please thank her too!
Give um aunty! Great tutorial! 🤙🏽

I get excited at bon dances now because of the 1st dance. It's the only one I can remember and dance with confidence 😂
Great video. Wish you can mirror the video on UA-cam cause she says right but goes left and my brain gets all out of synchro.
I totally forgot this over the pandemic...
Glad I could re-learn it!
Nice ❤
Thank you! I always saw obon dances growing up but never knew the moves well enough.

Thank you, Doris! I'm going to share this with my grandma. I hope you do more videos.
