Pure magic and pure genius. It's an absolute shame this music may never reach those who believe there is nothing left to discover in the world of music.
That is probably the greatest statement of the last Century Eric. Lambasted with clear channel, corporate garbage every day on "radio' stations. Big Money keeps so many bands and artists stifled but pumping people with music to remember their past. California was at the forefront of cutting edge music back in the days when Radio Personalities were just that. Cutting edge...playing what was really out there. Jim Thomas' writing is nothing short of genius. And with master improvisors like Alenn and Martyn...you got a tidal wave. Jim is the next Hendrix, and yes it is too bad that this music will not reach the doubtful. However I am very grateful it reached me. It changed my life
So much genius in this band. Virtuoso-level songwriting and playing. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the lead guitarist just casually spanning 6 frets with his left hand like it's nothing.

@@firewithfire1 Jim is better than Hendrix IMHO. The fact that these guys were shoved aside is one of the truest modern travesties.

Yep, I remember when Jim had hair and here is proof. :-) oh, and the pink shag on the drum.
Gosh this seems like a different world...
Excellent sea side surf tones. The Mermen have offered some of the best exotic blues/surf guitar you'll ever hear.
So long ago! Gorgeous tone
To be born in an era with no Mermen would be no life at all...
I guess I should consider myself lucky to have seen The Mermen play here on the east coast, 2001 at The Brewery in Raleigh, NC....
great to have all these mermen vids online
I can even smell the ocean from here!
🏆🏆🏆Such a talent for the love song of the sea. Just never stop Red Guitar.♥️🏆🏆🏆
Youth + Power
Sweet mama, what a sound!!!
I had to watch it a couple hundred times
unfathomably good, loving the water background too
when Jim had hair!
Thanks, man! This is rare!
Damn! I didn't know they went this far back..
