My grandfather was Hungary’s representative at the games and I still have my mom’s diplomatic all-event pass.

My great uncle Merle Beer was one of the head officials for the 1932 Olympics. I have boxing glove that were used during the Olympics and his participants' medals. I also have unused tickets. It's great to have family ties to this historic event. RIP Uncle Merle.

That start to the 800 metres race, though - with everyone using the crouch start, were they thinking that it was a sprint event?

How things were so different at that time before all the stuff that came with the 1936 Berlin games, and what followed.

Trivia question: What note is played in the first beat of Beethoven's 5th? Answer: none. The first beat is a rest.

The 1932 LA Olympics was a low point, only a few Europeans came and most were 3rd choice. The USA racked up Gold Medals without serious competition.

    4.08 are we sure that's a woman,
Freeze itt at 4.11 and check out that 5 o'clock shadow moustache and the Adams apple😮😅 there's no way that's a woman freeze at 4.11 and tell me I'm wrong lol
I'm sure I've watched an old documentary about a Country back then that pulled these shenanigans by dressing up man and putting them in the female event.

That would be Stanisława Walasiewicz. She was intersex, so no shenanigans there. She was socially and legally a woman and therefore eligible to compete. Modern sporting rules would disagree, but this was 90 years ago.

The circumstances of the death forced the police to perform an autopsy. The Cuyahoga County coroner found that the victim had both female and male sexual organs, but not fully developed. The news went out into the world and caused a stir.
