GOD evanescence was such a pivotal influence in my early teen years.

I started listening to Evanescence when I was 14, age 15 I got hit with a nasty bout of depression that made me wish I wasn't alive, but listening to Fallen kept me going. I've got a lot of scars from the times I've felt my lowest, I'm now 35 and I think this is the longest I've gone without cutting, over two years. I first heard Better Without You five days before something happened that meant I lost my job and the guy I was seeing at the time, which was excellent timing as that kept me going through a really tough time. Evanescence have been with me through everything, too. Looks like we're the same age and when I had to leave school at 14 this was the album that got me through those years of depression. It got me into music and I started to learn how to play the piano inspired by Amy's playing. I bought the anniversary edition the day it came out and I've nto stopped listening to it since. The tears come up often throughout the ~2 hours of music, all because these songs were there for me when I needed it the most. Happy to read you've not cut for so long. You're doing so well and you deserve happiness!

Fallen is among my most beloved and soul stirring albums of all time. Amy’s voice is something else. She’s talented, beautiful, deep thinking, soulful, to me a bringer of Light despite the darkest connotations some of her music is associated with. But that’s other people’s opinion, not mine.
