Thank for the laughs! As a small (19') sailboat sailor I don't understand the people getting their masts torn off & broken. In my case I can quickly furl and drop my mast to go under very low bridges (3' or so) and I still see them trying to come under. I suspect in a lot of these case that "they" spend so much time powered that they forget they actually bought/rented a sailboat and have a mast sticking a few dozen meters or more in the air.
We have a reservoir here in Mississippi thats just perfect for watching the newbies, and drunks operate their aquatic death machines. Fun entertainment to say the least.
When I was in highschool my best friend dad owned a boat dealership and we worked together and was at the boat ramp with customer's in the boat and he had already unhooked the boat from the hand crank and someone else yelled stop and he thought it was meant for him so midway down the ramp he hit the brake's and slid a brand new 18 bayliner boat with a 5.7v8 mercruiser off onto the concrete with the whole family inside, talk about ruining the sale
I once forgot to take my trailer straps off and could not figure out why the boat would not back off. Then a jet ski ran past me and then he saw his family parked over on the sandbar and cut right in front of me. I about blew my engine to avoid hitting him.
