It seems like every fanfic I write, no matter how fluffy I want it to be, eventually turns into overcomplicated angst and emotional trauma.
For example, I tried to write a cute college AU story about two characters staging a cookie heist (don't ask lol). I ended up planning out a hugely sprawling AU where the cultural divide between fantasy races is even wider than in canon, a main character has PTSD, the same character ends up in a seriously manipulative relationship he has to break out of, at one point the two main characters end up on the run from the law, and various other dramatic plotlines.
This is exactly what I did to my characters to give them more depth aaaand keeping my main character from becoming a mary sue, so I choked when I heard this
I think fanlabs director is my favourite coley so far, she's half a step and another lawsuit away from unhinged and I appreciate that energy.

Headcanons in this universe:
-the barista in the fanfic cafe and the head scientist are friends with each other, as well as the clerk in the ships rus and the artist in the fanart Parlour, while the relationship to the ship rus and the barista is more likely strangers, and I think the artist and the scientist are friends as well (well it could be, also sorry shippers-)
-the one who visits every fandom (it is confirmed that It is not coley-) uses the fan in this vid to travel into different fandoms
-that girl who travels into different fandoms, that's the girl who is a newbie in the cafe and wanted to be in the ships rus
-the other 3 (artist, clerk, and scientist) mostly hangs out in the cafe
-the slow burn stove is in the cafe...
-do not use the shipping goggles when you're looking into siblings/twins.....I don't know what will happen next If someone did that-
-the scientist have a love and hate relationship with the slow burn

Coley(Mary) from the Fanart Parlor x Coley(Gina) from Ships R Us. They met when Mary had to deliver a fan art order. It was a really freaky ship and they bonded over the stranger orders and requests they get from customers. They fight all the time, though only ever about random Fandom things. Mary has been giving Gina rides home on her motorcycle, cause Gina's car broke down and she doesn't have the cash to fix it.
Coley(CC) from the Fanfic Cafe x Coley (Prof. Natalia(Tali) ) from Fan Tech. Tali is a regular at the Cafe, but she only ever comes in right at the end of the day and buys in bulk, cause there is science to be done and only so many hours in the day. They properly met when Tali was late one day. CC made her usual order and waited with outside the cafe after closing. They've been friends ever since and so far CC is the only person who has seen and is allowed in Tali's personal lab. CC vowed to never go back in but appreciates the trust.
This is it. This is the greatest Fandom.
