Good video. I'm old enough to remember those days. The amount of hype the WFL created in 1973 was something else. I still believe to this day the notion, the _thought_ that Czonka, Kiick, and Warfield were going to leave the Dolphins as soon as the season was over, ruined their chances at a 3-peat as much as anything. And this is coming from a Raiders fan. True that if the NFL made any sense back then the playoffs would have been #1 Oakland hosting #4 Buffalo, and #2 Miami hosting #3 Pittsburgh.
That Dolphin team was another one that was done in by cheap and/or poor ownership. Look at Air Coryell for this as well. Gene Klein let JJ and Fred Dean go, and giftwrapped a title (and the start of a dynasty) to the 49ers.
The 1975 Dolphins were a really good team. If Griese hadn't been injured, they probably would have made the playoffs. They had Nottingham and Bulaich filling the roles of Csonka and Kiick--they were very similar in style and ability. Benny Malone was good too. They were a really good team even without the threat of Warfield taking the top off of defenses (though Nat Moore was a fine receiver too, Warfield was the best of his generation). Imagine the depth if the stars had stayed. Had the WFL never existed, they would have been a fearsome team for several more years, and would have had a very good shot at another Super Bowl. It wouldn't have been easy, because Pittsburgh and Oakland were also getting better, but they'd have had decent odds. Also, that playoff format was really stupid.

I wasn't alive back then, but based on everything I've read and heard, I agree with you.
It feels like this video is at 75% speed

1.5 speed is about right. I can only find one short highlight of Csonka, Kiick, Warfield, playing in the WFL.
Love the old unis.

I totally agree with you.
I was a wee lad, but I remember thinking Csonka looked silly in that new get up. Later, when he was a NY Giant, he again was appearing douche central.
I never thought about it until now, but you are right.
