Hi. Are you collecting Germany from all periods? It can be a huge area to collect, rich of history ofcourse. I think my collection is very modest and average. I have not spend that much time on it, it is in a rough state I would say. I hope to get the collection to a higher level. Thanks for watching and commenting!

How long have you been collecting stamps?

Lovely stock books, Chris. I'm with you - seeing the longer, multi-year series on one page looks impressive. German stamps tend to have such clean cancels so they are a joy to look at. 🙂

Hi Mark. Yep, love the cancels of German stamps. Even now that the cancels do not show towns or cities anymore but Post Office Centres (Briefmarken Zentrums) the cancels are still nice and clear. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Hi Chris. I enjoyed this peek inside your stockbooks. One thing I love about collecting Germany is that, except for definitives series of course, there are very few multi-stamp sets. The great majority of commemorative "sets" are only a single stamp. Of course, that does not include semi-postals, where almost all issues are 4-stamp sets. By the way, I received your card. Thanks.

Nice that the card arrived. And about those single stamps. You are right, I like that. Austria has that too I noticed when going through the catalogue.

Lovely German stamp collection Chris! I also love seeing all of the definitive series on one page - a definite disadvantage of collecting in an album but great if using stock sheets. My dad collected Germany and gifted me his collection and after spending time in Germany in the early 1990s I have been adding to it since. I didn't realize the Briefcentrum cancels had region codes - my recent Germany had a mix of town and post center codes so assumed they were from Berlin instead of all over. It would be fun to collect all of the codes on a common definitive series like the flowers!

Hi. I love having the definitives on one page, so fulfilling. It is a disadvantage in stockbooks, you need to get it right in your planning beforehand. Was your dad with the army that he was in Germany? Yep, Briefzentrum codes are area codes, replacing towns/cities. I have come to get used to it, but I prefer the town cancellations, especially since Germany has nice and clear cancellations generally. I had a plan to get all Briefzentrum cancellations on stamps, have not thought about a definitive series with those though, might be a good idea, although the flower definitives are small. Thanks you for watching so many (old(er)) videos of me by the way!

Nice collection Chris, I like the 1939 to 1945 war stamps myself as a great part of history also the occupied countries too.

Thanks Jerry. A really interesting time in history. I like those stamps too, but also the releases after.

Hi Chris! Thanks for showing us your German collection! Very nice stock books, well organized. The first stock book you showed: are all your stamps completed sets/series? I agree, I think the best is to keep a series or set together. It just makes an attractive and coherent display. Why did you keep the hyperinflation stamps in a glassine envelope, or did you say and I missed it? I will watch your video again. I enjoyed your video. 🙂

Thanks Charnie. It is too unorganised for me, but yeah, there was an idea behind it. I hope to give my Germany collection some more attention and get it on the level I would like to. The glassine just has older German stamps that I sorted a while back and put in there. Thanks for the comment!

Great video. A very nice German collection. I have a fairly extensive German collection. I learned something new from your video. I didn't know the Briefcentrum cancels were geographically coded. Thank you for the information.

Nice German collection. I keep the sets together regardless of the year of issue. I just think it is more pleasing to the eye that way rather than having them spread out over a few years. Looking forward to more of your German collection. Although I have many German and German state/Colonies stamps, I am presently concentrating on the Third Right, including Mint, used and on cover of each as well as propaganda postcards. Looking forward to your next video.

Hi, thanks for commenting and watching! Germany is a wide area to collect. If someone replies they collect Germany, then a follow up question should follow, because there is so much. As yet, I focus on GDR (DDR), BRD (current Germany and Berlin (West), but I keep all other stamps I find.
I am curious about the propaganda postcards. I am not sure if I have seen any of them actually.
