My dad just got one of his dreams accomplished by having his first short story published in an online journal! It had a workshop for the submitters to critique each other before it was published. So it was a lot of fun for him to be able to talk to other writers.
I’m definitely interested in hearing anything you’d be willing to share about your entire process… it’s awesome to hear from someone who *actually* gets published. (Theory and practice! Yay!)
I think you've definitely reached these 30 requests. I'm late to the game but an in-depth video on the whole process would be very informative and helpful
The Submission Grinder is a great resource similar to Submittable - tracks average response times, etc. I think it's geared towards spec fic but it might have lit fic too
This was a very interesting video and I definitely want to see more about short stories and publishing, traditional or otherwise. I need to rewatch your skill share class as, even though it is more expensive from what I can gather, I think self publishing sounds like a route I will go down if I ever make it that far (just need to figure out how to build an audience).
I appreciate this video a lot! I would also very much appreciate an in depth video about the publication process for short stories. Keep doing what you're doing. Thank you!
I have sort of like self-written novels, I like to write stories...I also produce music, not a producer...I feel "PRODUCER" is a big word as opposed to just say I'm an audiophile who knows moderate to intermediate "SOUND ENGINEER" been doing it for almost 20 years now, know any recoding software application and I'm infatuated with sound mixers buuuut....I love to write short films to long stories, I think about myself as a creative person... originally I wanted to become a writer since I started writing songs and stories but then again I've always seem to be caught up in the ignorance of not knowing how the writing or publishing field really works....your video really helped me understand a short percentage of what self publishing might work for me....you're very BEAUTIFUL btw!!!! *_* THANKS Hannah!!! ☮️
Yep! The typical reason pre-published pieces are an issue is that publishers don't want something that's already been out. Since you're the publisher, it's up to you. One other note is that some contracts have exclusivity clauses about how and when you can publish pieces once that publisher has. That's why in Little Birds, most of the pieces have a "previously published" note at the beginning of the story. It was something in the contract for a few of those original publishes, so I put it on all of them for consistency. ☺️
I need the process. I know it’s labor intensive but I’ve just written a few short stories. First time. I used it as a form of healing. But I want to share.
Is it possible to submit to undergrad journals under a pseudonym? I'm planning to self publish with a pseudonym, and, if possible, I'd like to keep all of my publishing credits under the same name Edit: I'd also love to see the in depth publishing video
I've never heard of a publication not allowing pseudonyms? They'll probably want to know your actual name to confirm your student status, but as for the actual name it's published under, should be up to you. Noted! Thanks for watching
I ve been doing some of this things for a while but not as consistent as you did. My problem is that I don't know how to group my histories they are all different.
I'm from Palestine . I wrote a short story about my experience in the last war in Gaza strip if you know it (Israel occupation ). And I want to publish it in websites . Which websites can accept it ? I need your answer, please. Thanks alot .
I have a lot of questions, but often I don’t ask because I don’t think I’ll succeed. I have a body of poetry that I think I’d like to publish, but I’m afraid.

I'm putting together a program for new indie writers to build their platform! If you haven't joined the waiting list yet: forms.gle/ECDnq75wrmCm1s6L8
Yeah I have been considering that. Not entirely confident I could commit to such a thing right now, but definitely will be giving it another look.
@@omegaelement For sure! I also plan to incorporate more of that content into my regular videos as well. ^_^

Could you do a video on how to write a strong bio with tips, a model (or comparisons of some basic v stellar author bios) and revise some examples?

I would definitely be interested in a video about the full process! 💜
So if I publish a piece can I still put it in my short story collection later?
Only if I self publish correct?

I think a demon flashed on screen at 4:11 lol Hannah I know waiting on pubs is annoying but don't get possessed over it xD
I've always used Duotrope. It's about $5/month but they have a very extensive list of publishers that accept unsolicited manuscripts.
Thanks, I'll check that out!
Dumb question but, if your prof says something is publishable and 'phenomenal' is it actually? Or maybe just in-line with their taste?
I can write short motivational stories how can I sell it

I must be naive, in my old age, but it seems that you should be judged on the story, not the other way around.
