- Recruitment is in full swing and some despite IMGs getting multiple job offers, some IMGs have still not been able to get shortlisted for interviews. In this video, I will explain a new strategy to improve chances that will certainly make you stand out from the crowd
About me
My name is Rizwan Qureshi and I am an international medical graduate from Pakistan who initially migrated to UK after PLAB and then after MRCSEd and 3 years of training move and trained in Australia and now I am working and a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in Sydney Australia.
I like to share interesting medical cases and career guidance videos for doctors who are planning to move from their home country to Western Countries for training and settling here permanently. I believe most IMGs face similar hardship and we can all learn from each other with sharing and respect

Hi Dr Rizwan.Thank you for your videos which are really helpful.Should we do rotations in Paeda,Emergency, OBG etc while working in home country for 3 months for recency of practice? Can we work in a rural clinic with emergency and opd service or is it necessarily to be done in a multi specialist hospital?
Please help me with these questions. Thank you
Does clinical experience as a cardiologist in home country count ? Adult or internal medicine cardiologist, without pediatrics or emergency medicine experience
Can you show examples of those well answered questions that shows the experience? I can write whatever i think is right but if that isn't what they are looking for I'm doing nothing.
I am consultant in my country. I want to get the job for 1 to 2 years for short term specialist training. What should be strategy to secure the job in my case?

Welcome!!
Hello Doc, I have a fellowship in ORL from my country with just 10months gap. Passed AMC and OET during this period. Recently applied for ED jobs as JMO but wasn't successful. Thinking of GP/pepsci now though I was told going specialist pathway is damn too difficult. Kindly advise me.
To be honest, it's inappropriate to give generic advice. You may have good credentials and may benefit from more 1:1 Counselling session with myself

Hi dr rizwan can you please tell me what's the best time to give amc1 in terms of job applications. I have bewn continuously working for 1.5 years in my home country and now have to move to Australia n first give amc1 n then apply for jobs
Best time to take any licensing exam (PLAB, AMC, USMLE) is during your house job. Jobs normally advertised here in Australia in June first round and then September October 2nd round
Hello dr rizwan i am a pathologist back home and i want to work as a doc in Australia. Will i find job if i pass AMC 1 despite having a non clinical degree in psthology please reply
Hi Dr. Rizwan, I've 6 months experience in obs and gynae as a junior doctor & 3 months in medicine OPD but not in acute medicine or ICU yet, is it worth applying at the moment, Or after gaining experience in other mainstream specialities ? Also I've amc 1
definitely
hi Dr.Rizwan. I m currently working in an insurance company in india. Finished internship in dec 2021. And for about 8 months working here. my job profile is to examine candidates and declare them fit for receiving insurance. My designation here is 'medical consultant' . Would that be counted as clinical or non clinical experience? Thanks
I think Non clinical as there is no direct patient assessment care and management
I have experience in general practice without gab, old gratuted, AMC1 + OET. Do I have a chance in emergency medicine job
Better suited to GP pathway via PESCI route

Hello, how do you join the emergency focus img WhatsApp group
Can anyone share the link for whatsapp group for emergency focus? I want to share some queries I have
HI D, Rizwan, I have a clinical gap of around 14 months now, since i was preparing for ielt, oet and Plab. How can i bridge it in my home country? For how many months should i work in Paeds/ Medicine/ Acute Medicine to apply and have high chances of being shortlisted? Or will it be wise decision to apply for a healthcare related job in Australia? Also, which are those?
Same doubt
Is there any time limit btw amc clinical and part one???plz reply
I am doing fcps gynae in Pakistan and trying to pass amc one so that after 4 years of training i can shift to australia and by that time i must have cleared amc one
Thats y asking about the time gap btw part one and clinical???
Doctor, I’m a final year med student, soon after graduation i will be doing Amc 1. So with AMC 1 can i get an internship in aussy rural areas? (P.s: my partner is working in Australia )
This is not recommended as it’s very difficult to get internship in Australia being an img. More chances of getting RMO job after completing your internship
Doctor since I’m a fresh graduate i will not have an internship. But is it possiblr to apply for internship with AMC 1?
@@minolilavanyanishshankaara1418 Not really. You must complete internship before amc 1 or coming to Australia

Doctor, I have 1 year of internships prior to obtaining my medical degree, and after obtaining the degree, I have worked for 1 year. Do you think this is sufficient to be able to secure a job offer after taking AMC1, which I plan to take in my home country?
If pass the clinical exam, still there is chance of getting shortlisted.
If you have minimal career gap and uptodate with CPD and pass AMC clinical , you stand an excellent chance to get shortlisted. Have a look at our medical career guidance course which has been registered by hundreds of doctors. This course is one stop shop towards Australian medical residencies

@@EmergencyFocus My gap is due to exam preparations, thanks sir, I just started following you, saw some of the case discussions, and saw the demand for the cases, like you said, the cases are obvious, but it is the way we approach them is important and must abide by the instructions. It was helpful and you are truly helpful, thanks.
