Hello there and welcome to my video. In today's video, I'll be doing some tests on the system I just fixed up in my previous video. Specifically, I'll be testing this system in some productivity workloads to see if it's still a viable workstation in today's computing landscape. Also, don't worry about the error with the button in the PCB. The video recording is somewhat outdated as I've modified the board design off camera (and with a fresh mind... I was there for 2.5 hours designing that simple thing because KiCad is weird with footprints).

Let’s go! A new video
Well, I'm Intel user (loyal? Kinda 😅). The starter was Core 2 Duo E4500, which was just great for that time. Then Celeron N4000 which OK but kinda struggling for a bit demanding tasks. Until now in 2023, I finally able to use Core series, although is i3 1115G4 (in fact is identical with Core i5 8365U in 2018 😅)

Thank you for another awesome video. I found two dell Vostro 3902s in the dumpster and took them home. I tested them and they worked fine. I have one problem though. they did not have power supplies and I've been looking everywhere for one with no luck. Do you have any suggestions on any other power supply I can use even if its not a dell one?
Make sure the oem PSU doesn't have proprietary power cables and stuff and then see if it's a specific form factor
My Optiplex with i5-6500 is hitting 90% utilization already as a BlueIris surveillance server with 15 IP cameras (combinations of 4K, 2K, 1080p). I wonder if an upgrade to i7-7700 would at least alleviate it. That's the max CPU I can put on my aging Optiplex.
It could be worth a shot if you can grab one at a good price, though I wouldn't pay the current market price of ~85 USD for one

I remembered back in 2020 almost end, I mean at October or November. Using Core i3 2nd Gen PC at My school's Library

It's refreshing that, finally, someone has taken in consideration what people really do with these kinds of machines. Most other channels pretend to define the capabilities of a computer simply by throwing some stupid games at it. And in the retro computing world it's even worse! for instance, I would like to know who, during the 80s, would have bought an IBM 5170 just to play games!
It should be on retirement by that age please dont be so harsh on the oldie.
Pointless video, of course an i7 from the last decade will handle any software with ease. Even my athlon 200ge (ultra budget cpu from 2017) handles modern coreldraw with ease.
Even more pointless comment, maybe if you've ever used hardware that's above welfare-tier you might think differently

Well yes, I did expect it to handle this software with ease and that's mostly a given for people who have knowledge about computers. Due to the type of testing done here, this video is meant to appeal more to someone with a lesser knowledge of computers who may be looking for a simple, upfront, easy to understand baseline of what they can expect. Definitely not pointless in my books, maybe to you, but you can't please everyone!
