New government did a reform couple days ago barely, now it's imperative and priority to build passengers trains, in the Constitution. The next railway will be Mexico-Pachuca and Mexico-Queretaro which will be high speed up to 200km/h.

I am Mexican and the truth is, thank you for coming to the country and recording that experience in the Insurgente, people record and take photos because in Mexico there are no passenger trains (only the Mayan Train (2023), Interoceanic (2023), El Chepe and the Tijuana-Tecate Train (which are tourist) and the Metro lines of CDMX, Monterrey and Guadalajara) although it is only an Interurban Train, it is still a system not so long but quite used and to see the return of this system as the Passenger Trains . "New long-distance passenger train lines will soon be built."
If you are wondering about the Rolling Stock use on this route from Toluca to Mexico City they resemble the ones in Spain. With a different track gauge from the original 1.668m to 1.435m, which includes the voltage change from the original Spanish 3Kv DC to North America US Canada Mexico 25kv 60hz system
@julianpenavillar7720 thank you for the answer and for Mexico it might be cheaper to buy newer CIVIA trains that are actually assembled in the United States if they want to expand this line because the US Mexico Agreement of 2018 actually makes trains assembled in the United States tariff free for both Mexico in Canada.
They are also talking about a high-speed train from Austin TX to Mexico City. (One thing I like about Modern Architecture in Mexico is that it is usually about function without pretense.)
Toluca has a Ford assembly plant, among other things. Maybe they could build a similar commuter train between Mexico City and the Teotihuacan pyramid complex to the north. The former (pre-1997) passenger train that operated between Merida and Mexico City passed right by Teotihuacan. The route was a bit convoluted, due to the mountainous terrain, such as Popocatepetl.
Months ago i read about plans of building a metro line from Metro Martin Carrera to the town of Tepexpan, near Teotihucan, they should do it all the way to Teotihuacan to cater more locals and tourists.

Les premiere lignes du Metro à la Ville du Mexique sont françaises. Le train Maya (qui à un parcour de 1,554 km), pas montré ici, est canadien-francais par Alstom, construi au Mexique !
I'm so happy to see you here in Mexico!! If you haven't planned it already, and if you have time for it, check out the other new rail projects we have. The tren Maya in Yucatán's Peninsula and the interoceanic Rail. That last one is extra interesting because it operates with old British HST Intercity 125 rolling stock and it's weird to see them in such a tropical place. I'd love to see your reviews about them as well.
Mexico City has one other commuter line running north from the Buenavista terminal. Sort of an older version of this. Other passenger lines are the Copper Canyon line in Northern Mexico, the Tequila Express from Guadalajara, the Interoceanic line using former Amtrak and British Rail stock and the Tren Maya running west from Cancun to Campeche and Palenque.

Great video at 3:47 these EMU are Civias just like Renfe S46X you took from El Prat Airport to Barcelona in the past. Theses other good transint in Mexico the Tren Suburbano which use also Spanish roling stock this time based on the S446 or 447 of Renfe
The interior looks like an S-465 (Civia platform was a joint-venture of CAF and Siemens) and the front looks like a Civity (CAF's multi-purpose product). If in 15 minute scheme there are that volume of pax, this line is perfect for testing level 3 of ETCS (designed for minimum gap between trains, such as suburban or metro systems)
I agree with you re rail versus roads. Sydney has just opened its new driverless Metro through the city centre and it's been a big hit. There are more routes on the way. By the way, CAF is building our new country trains in New South Wales. I have high hopes but expect they won't live up to my expectations.

My first thought on the music is to make sure no one rides it back and forth who might be unhoused? I know here in Los Angeles they played classical music loudly in the subway stations as a test to see if unhoused people Would not stay too long in the stations? Just a theory
If they're gonna put music, at least put on Luis Miguel, Mana, Cristian Castro, or Cafe Tacuba. Anyway, this is how commuter lines ought to be built: electrified, double-tracked, 15-minute frequency, completely grade separated. Not the American standard of diesel-hauled 3-car dinkies on a single track with 100 grade crossings that run every 2 hours but only in the peak direction.
I saw few comments about plataforms screen doors and tbh mexico don't use them even on the new metros or rail projects. I dont know if it is about money or choice, but I see mexico preferring the old way.

About the comment at 10:40, about the praying and the photos and videos it’s not because we are shocked. Praying is a tradition among people to pray before starting a trip, even a short one. And taking videos it’s because it has been a very emblematic project about the return of the trains to our country which had a long tradition on that in the past and about the infrastructure projects that out progressist government is doing, it’s more like an emblem of pride that we just get rid of the former neoliberal government once and forever.
This project was started by one of the previous presidents, who is not a member of the current ruling party. President Lopez even suggested to cancel the construction altogether (but ended up finishing it).
I would say there is plenty to improve on. personally i am a huge fan of raised rail in favor of subways. Scenery is nicer and they are cheaper to build. There for sure is things done right here. Nice and flat entrance and wagons, wide wagons and wide walkway. Large airy window and fitting large airy stations. Now there are thing that could have been done better. And i do understand that some of those issues are cost constraints. The railway is suspended way to high for my liking. I know why that is the case, and why it would be hard to make it lower, but its still considerably higher than is actually practical. For multiple reason it might be better to have passenger come up on stairs where possible in steed of escalators. People with wheelchairs and trolleys need elevators anyway. And i get it, its a limitation of available construction infrastructure. And building it this high was probobly really the only viable solution. The speed is (considering the local train where i live) is fairly slow considering the fairly long distance between some of the stops. While i see no problem increasing this in the future, so i guess its not a huge issue. Passenger comfort is... lets say, sub par. Its not only the chairs, but also the lack of compartmentalization. This is more typical of a subway train than a commuter train. And lack of platform doors. The issue here is that its really hard to install them retroactive due to the deep integration with the system they need. So that is something typically is needed to think about from the get go. Of cause, having the track at standard gauge and at full 25kV AC voltage will allow the system to upgrade with high quality trains in the future.
@@matsv201 The design of that train is due Mexico’s geography and and its seismic problem, it is a unique engineering work in North America and it is perfect for the needs of the people, certainly there are things that could be better but there is nothing better on the continent.

I had no idea about this line, only the regional line in the Yucatan! Yeah, that lounge music stinks! But, it's nice not having to deal with traffic way up there. They do this with MetroRail in Miami. Not so with Brightline in Florida. BTW, What do you think of Amtraks, "The Floridan" from Chicago to Miami? Mexico is outperforming the U.S. modernization and expansion of their rail system. That is embarrassing! At least the idea of putting the train line within the central highway corridor is being done in Brightline's future expansion.

The trains look very similar to the CIVIA family used by Renfe Cercanías

I live in Dallas and would love to see the planned HSR line to Houston eventually connect across the border! This could revolutionise tourism.

This is one of fastest trains in Latin America - the fastest one is the Chilean Terrasur intercity train (160 km/h)

I think that it would be later part of Mexico City's public transport as commuter line 2.
I saw few comments about plataforms screen doors and tbh mexico don't use them even on the new metros or rail projects.
I dont know if it is about money or choice, but I see mexico preferring the old way.

The terror of Mountain Mexico prevents projects of this type from being carried out and from taking so long, but the effort and work is being made.
About the comment at 10:40, about the praying and the photos and videos it’s not because we are shocked. Praying is a tradition among people to pray before starting a trip, even a short one. And taking videos it’s because it has been a very emblematic project about the return of the trains to our country which had a long tradition on that in the past and about the infrastructure projects that out progressist government is doing, it’s more like an emblem of pride that we just get rid of the former neoliberal government once and forever.
This project was started by one of the previous presidents, who is not a member of the current ruling party. President Lopez even suggested to cancel the construction altogether (but ended up finishing it).

I would say there is plenty to improve on.
personally i am a huge fan of raised rail in favor of subways. Scenery is nicer and they are cheaper to build.
There for sure is things done right here. Nice and flat entrance and wagons, wide wagons and wide walkway. Large airy window and fitting large airy stations.
Now there are thing that could have been done better. And i do understand that some of those issues are cost constraints.
The railway is suspended way to high for my liking. I know why that is the case, and why it would be hard to make it lower, but its still considerably higher than is actually practical. For multiple reason it might be better to have passenger come up on stairs where possible in steed of escalators. People with wheelchairs and trolleys need elevators anyway. And i get it, its a limitation of available construction infrastructure. And building it this high was probobly really the only viable solution.
The speed is (considering the local train where i live) is fairly slow considering the fairly long distance between some of the stops. While i see no problem increasing this in the future, so i guess its not a huge issue.
Passenger comfort is... lets say, sub par. Its not only the chairs, but also the lack of compartmentalization. This is more typical of a subway train than a commuter train.
And lack of platform doors. The issue here is that its really hard to install them retroactive due to the deep integration with the system they need. So that is something typically is needed to think about from the get go.
Of cause, having the track at standard gauge and at full 25kV AC voltage will allow the system to upgrade with high quality trains in the future.
@@matsv201 The design of that train is due Mexico’s geography and and its seismic problem, it is a unique engineering work in North America and it is perfect for the needs of the people, certainly there are things that could be better but there is nothing better on the continent.
@@la76521 i was redering to speficicallt the level cake construction mothod that force them to build so high. It have nothing to do with earthquakes but rather with lack of advanced precast factories.

I had no idea about this line, only the regional line in the Yucatan! Yeah, that lounge music stinks! But, it's nice not having to deal with traffic way up there. They do this with MetroRail in Miami. Not so with Brightline in Florida. BTW, What do you think of Amtraks, "The Floridan" from Chicago to Miami? Mexico is outperforming the U.S. modernization and expansion of their rail system. That is embarrassing!
At least the idea of putting the train line within the central highway corridor is being done in Brightline's future expansion.

I am glad to see President Sheinbaum move on from her disastrous Mexico City metro collapse scandal when she was in charge as mayor and invest like her predecessor in trains, trains and more trains! Now make the Monterrey-Laredo-San Antonio-Austin-Dallas HSR line a thing! That would probably do gangbusters service from the start!
