Been fishing since i was a tot about 1964, have caught, won matches, actually started a club with a speech in a pub, my most cherished catches were on the Ribble, 2lb roach, 100 + lbs of Chubb, my first Barbel, then the next season a few 1 year old Barbel at Half penny bridge, so amazing to see the Barbel thriving, but my best ever was two wild brownies on a hares ear i tied myself, between where the Hodder and Calder join the Ribble, tiny fish but beautiful and wild, there was a sort of small clay cliff in the field behind where the lambs were queuing up to leap off then re-joining the back of the queue, and an old Krark scowled at me from a branch in an old hawthorn that was bursting to join the lambs in celebration of the new bounty to come its pale green barely budding leaves contrasted with the old blackened bark and the emerald moss that clung to the northern side of its wizened britches.
