      The video is pre 2011 civil war footage. Intresting to see a tourist travel fime. But the country is nothing like that now. See Damascus video of this year and you see far more ruins than in the above film. 250,000 murders there in Syria.

      +Wassim Syrian Were Syrian civilians being oppressed prior to the start of the civil war? Was there any religious violence? What did the people think of Assad? I'm an American, from what I've heard, it was the US government who started the war, but most other Americans don't believe me, and want to vote for Hillary Clinton, who will only make it worse, instead of Trump who wants to stop interfering, and allow Russian and Syrian forces to end the war.

    • @MikeGreenwood51
      @MikeGreenwood51 8 років тому +1

      I would say it is very dangerouse. Reports say over 500,000 people have been murded. There are over 150 groups fighting there. There are some places where you may be safer than others. But your safety may depend on who you know or support. Even then that doesn't seem to garantee any one any safety. Which part did you want to visit?

    • @yarabakkar8556

      @pranavpranav1758 7 років тому

      yes you are right...

    • @MikeGreenwood51
      @MikeGreenwood51 7 років тому +1

      To Yara Bakkar
      Damascus is about 70% Pro Assad. But fighting there seems to be on going. There is a small pocket of DAISH to the south. FSA opposition to the East to North East. A lot of heavy shelling and fighting has happened over the years with the shelling turn mush of the East to North East in to ruble. I was there very briefly in about 1983 in very different times. I would definitely think it was off my holiday list. But your own motives or circumstaces may result in you being far safer than I would feel. So I can not advise. But I think from observations that any week is likly to see some shelling. The west seems to still be intact. But in any large war situations can change suddenly. My advice would be to view the same or related live updates from a Syrian war live update map. So you can see some of the same data I view. Shows you who is holding what area as well as terrorist or rebel held areas. There is a terrorist problem there at present with them holding southern Damascus. Apparently no one is safe from a beheadding, robbery or rape by them. Not even the Syrians , Syrian SAA army or any one talking their dialect of terrorism. So I guess there are very unstable areas there. Especially as most others want to shoot or see them shot.
      I think this video is more like a holiday brochure showing Damascus is a much safer toristy light. So I would recommend at least 10 other more recent videos of Damascus to get a view of real Damascus as it is today.
      Just my (an) opinion. Good Luck.
      You may even be Syrian. So your reasons may be very different to how I as a former tourist sees it.

    • @teamspirits732
      @teamspirits732 7 років тому

      Syria is still under a Civil War that is ongoing between the Syrian Government Regime and the Free Syrian Army rebels not to mention ISIS between them. If you do go there, the regime and the rebels will not harm you but they won't guaranteed your safety or your chance of getting caught or kill by ISIS terrorists.

      I'm also thinking of going there. Make sure that you visit regime-held areas as those are significantly safer than other parts of Syria.

    • @kingjayapala
      @kingjayapala 8 років тому

      My honest advice is that you wait several months. Right now Damascus doesn't even have proper water and power and many of the best sites are insecure at best. Once the government restores the water facilities in Wadi Barada and retakes the Shaer gas fields from ISIS, that problem will go away. Also, the government has recently lost Palmyra again. ISIS is stretched thin and has suffered heavy casualties and Palmyra will revert back to government control within the next two weeks. But then the Russians will *again* have to demine it and do some restorations. They also need to get their house in order with regards to car bombs and kidnapping. Having enough manpower to staff the checkpoints would help. Also, some of the best places in Old Damascus, such as Bab Touma, come under frequent fire and even Syrians avoid those areas. But the government is scoring victories around the city and they will become safe again. Make sure you bring a few thousand dollars to buy some traditional Syrian furniture! And hopefully later this year, the government can retake Bosra Shams. That would really make Syria worth visiting! So I'd suggest that you wait several months to allow these things to happen. I suggest that you visit Damascus, Maaloula, the Krak des Chevaliers, Ugarit (Ras Shamra), Seidnaya, and if under government control by the time you get there, Bosra Shams and Palmyra. Make sure to visit the National Museum in Damascus as all collections from the museums across the country have been brought there for safety, some of which are now on display. If you wish to visit Aleppo, despite its horrendous condition, you should at least wait until flights to Aleppo airport resume. You do not want to take the Homs-Ithriya-Khanasser-Aleppo highway!

    • @kingjayapala
      @kingjayapala 7 років тому +1

      Things are at least moving in the right direction now, aren't they? The government hasn't been able to restore Wadi Barada yet but they at least have it secured and are working on it. And most of Damascus and Aleppo are safe now. And Palmyra has been retaken. And yet it will still take time. I believe that things will improve tremendously in another six months as infrastructure, security, and services continue to be restored. We'll have to see.

    Nothing is able to live forever, what matters more to us muslims is the afterlife, I'm syrian and i love my country so much but i love islam more

      Well generally Islam tends to be a murderous religion so your after life most likely will be with mad madhammad the murderer.

      +Michael Greenwood that is the most ignorant statement I've heard, but if you wish, keep telling that to yourself

      thats why syria is in a crisis right now ... because some love islam more than they love their country

      To Peter S,
      Yes that is what it looks like. 154 mad muslim groups all intent on murdering each other as their mad religion instructs them too. Their mad religion was designed for conquest. But never anticipated a division with in. So it has no instruchings to stop.

      Michael Greenwood my dear brother, behind this surah(especially this surah) is a lot of stories that happened with the prophet Muhammad and his companions. Each one of these hellfire and torture verses, they are a threat from god to those who don't just disbelief but also continued to hurt the prophet and his companions, they were tortured, killed, and worse saw their loved ones die in front of them, one of God's attributes is (al muntaqem) which means he is the most vengeful. and one very very important thing to know, is that all these surahs have an index and a point for every story, commandments, and good or bad announcements. And what they give you is misinterpretation of the quran by presenting one thing and ignore tons of good things that will change the whole impression on the most forgiving and the most merciful god,,, you think these are bad verses, then you should be aware that what the prophet Muhammad suffered from was far far worse than what the prophet jesus has suffered from, but the media blocks you from understanding almost everything about islam. (fyi, syria has been doing extremely fine in life for centuries, until the french came, and enforced this ratshit regime of ours that we are fighting now, besides from the many attempts of destroying us and steal our needs of life) and if you're looking for horrible verses in the quran to judge the religion by it, then you should at your own bible. Peace.

      Large areas are destroyed. Some videos are on UA-cam. I guess the destroyed areas are mostly the anti Assad areas. But there may be still thousands of milatry installations there.

    To these Britishers, anything that is not a forest, is a desert! So childish. and inaccurate. Desert is like the Sahara. Syria is mostly a grassland with thriving agriculture: that is where its ancient civilization subsisted on, not on a "desert." Its costal forests provided the cedars (like those in neighboring Lebanon) to the world for monumental construcitons

    Syria looks like a beautiful country; we totally need to send Miley Virus, Katy Scary, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Raven Symone, Whoopi Goldberg, Madonna, Talibania Grande, Jimmy Kimmel, Al Sharpton, the cast of MSNBC, Jesse Jackson, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Lady Gaga & all of Hollywood's liberal elites on a one way trip over there and make them get rid of their US citizenship.

    Someday there will be a huge EARTHQUAKE, as tectonic plates in the eastern Mediterranean shift. The machineguns of conquering soldiers will be still by the joyful shouts of a baby boy, bouncing up and down in his crib after his parents fled in haste and forgot him--or decided he might be safer left in his crib.
    "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings, the might of the avenger us stilled"-a verse of scripture that Jesus didn't understand.
    (Isaiah 17).
