Hi 🙏🏼from Australia, I picked up a flute and a clarinet at the same time. Never ever touched one of them before. But got attracted to them for some reason. Took it home and watched lots of videos and managed to play a song on clarinet in few days. But I wasn’t very successful with the flute. But watching your videos I must say you are the best so far. The way how you explains everything is so much with love and passion and I am sure that I should be able to pickup the basics fairly quickly. Thank you for your effort.
Thank you Lauren, I love your videos and your energy. I just started with the flute and it's wonderful to have such, clear, joyful and informed instruction. Happy day to you.
thank you it helps when you see a person who loves what they are doing and you give me hope with your happieness
thankssss this again is really helpful and this position is really easy to remember and do, props to you!
I am totally blind, and am teaching myself to play the flute. I had to listen to several videos to try and figure out exactly where the left hand should be placed to support the flute. I was having a hard time playing C2, etc, and keeping the flute stable. I finally figure out where to place my largest forefinger knuckle by this video. Most of the other videos just told me where to place my fingers, but not where or how to support the flute with the left hand. I wish more instructors would think of blind listeners when they make their videos. Clear oral instruction would be nice indeed. :) Thanks for the video. I've even made my own PVC flute, which can play about 1.5 octaves, has a sub tonic, and is fully chromatic. It's the only one I've ever had that can do this so well. It cost me about $1 total. :) It has thumb holes for F# and Bb.
Thank you for all the fine details!
Best video I've found on how to hold the flute! Thankyou!
Thanks a lot for explaining everything 🙏
Thank you for the tips. I've just been teaching myself for a couple of weeks, and I started getting pain in my right wrist. I think moving my thumb up higher and holding the flute further out in front of me feels better. I'll keep practicing. Thanks again.
Thank you thank you thank you! I was struggling so bad in class because I didn't know how to hold the flute correctly and the distance learning stuff was difficult. I am so glad that I decided to watch this! It helped me a ton and you deserve the world! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Thanks so much I was watching so many different videos but I found you and then I can Actually hold the flute thanks so much
@@jellybeansrock2883 So happy to hear this was helpful to you 🙌
Thanks I’m just learning flute it was so helpful xxoo!
thanks for running through the basics
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much!!!
Good tutor! Thanks
THANK YOU!!!! For some reason I thought you were not supposed to touch your joint/palm of your left hand, which in turn was putting incredible pressure on my right thumb and pinky. You saved me so much unnecessary struggle!
Wow amazing lesson.. Really I love ur smile 😄
Thank you so much!
the last two videos I watched of yours got me getting good tone and an actual B note...I've had my flute for 4 days and was getting very frustrated....watched other peoples videos and yours finally got me going
Your flute and your sond so good
im ur new subscriber btw!
you are good and fun..
Big thanks.
So that was how I was holding it but with the flute resting on the joint of the left pointer finger it made a bruise and made my finger go kinda numb. I was playing a lot for 2 days straight, though. Is it normal to get stuff like that?
it was very useful thanks
I found you on Facebook but I don't think you are so active over there :)
I'm not a beginner ( but I'm in beginner band) I just forgot how to hold it right because my rist was hurting when I play
Need a tutorial for bamboo flutes
Hi Lauren..thank you for sharing this it gave me the information i needed it..i have a question thou i find using my right hand pinky as a balance point hard..can i not use it at all or do you have another advice for me? :)
Hi Judy! I'd definitely work to place the right pinky down even if it feels strange at first, as it also keeps some notes in tune and sounding homogenous to the rest of the notes, some examples are the low E natural and the third octave notes (E, F#, A, helpful to balance on high G) so it saves you from running into those problems... anyway, the tips I can think of off the top of my head for balance is to 1. make sure the flute is resting on the pad of the thumb in the correct place under the first finger, 2. Make sure your right hand fingers aren't resting on the rods 3. (this is the biggest tip!) Use a slight counter pressure with the hands (push left hand towards you (back) and right hand forward as you hold it, I hope that make sense, this really can make the flute feel much more stable in the hands. I hope some of that helps somewhat!!
Today (02/09/2022) 6:57pm (Philippines time) im started to play flute,., By the way Im saxophone player hehehe
I really need help with the low notes it's really hard
Can you tell me the notes to play ghost busters on flute
Flutist or Flautist?
I don’t even play the flute. I’ve just always wanted to know how they hold it so steady.
I'm still so confused
I still do not see how you are holding your left hand to balance the flute. Also, am I the only one that is having a hard time holding the flute for it being slick?
I'll make it myself. Just got instructions from WoodPrix website and I'm ready to do it :D
I got my flute 3 days ago. I have watched so many other beginners tutorials and was unable to produce my first notes until your very wonderful and detailed explanation of hand positioning. Thank you so much for this. All of the others flew right past this crucial information so fast that I never could get it. Thank you, thank you!
