🙏 Love finding americans that find Akala. I can only suggest reading his books.
Not simply a rapper, lectures on culture around the world. Rums a business helping kids stay out of trouble.
So under rated. So glad people are still finding him.
Kano is worth a listen as well. More people know hom for being Sully in the Top Boy tv series, less know him for his bars.
Both Kano & Akala should be in every rap fans cd collection.
Have to mention Wreth 32, Ghetts, Dave (Santan Dave) and Stormzy as well.
A little older grime but Dizzee Rascal isnt to bad. Possibly The Streets and Plan B as well for something a little different.
All in my album collection.
Looking forward to more of your posts 🏴🙏
If everyone had a bit of Akala in their lives the world would be a better place. 🙌🏼
Akala is a very very clever man, he has been on a lot of topical shows talking about politics and the black experience. And yeah, he looks adorable before the locks. That grime flow is unique
True story. Aside from his amazing rapping abilities, I quickly picked up on how intelligent he is 🔥🔥
He's british and in our system we grew up learning british history from a british perspective. Like any country does. But he was also given a different perspective by his family from a young age which helped him. This guy is so smart. Thinks for himself, doesnt buy into ideas. Sees the world as it is. Knows that racism exists but never thought of himself as lesser than because of color. He aspired to be the best he could be and achieved it. This guys an inspiration.
I appreciate u so much for clarifying that and sharing that insight as well
Akala and his sister, Lady Dynamite are products of Pan African Saturday schools that were a by product of the trends of English School system to segregate and side line Black Afro Caribbean children as troubled, intellectually delinquent and trouble makers into separate delinquent schools. Pan African schooling was geared to counter act this by supplementing the teaching not given in these schools, plus teach pupils more about their history and history of the diaspora. Akala is ahead of his time but this was underpinned by the the Pan African education he gained. Akala's English mother was also a graduate in Caribbean History and it was her aim that her children didn't just understand their history in a tonal way but they had a defined viewpoint and perspective of their history.
Fire reaction again akala is a legend in the UK mans teaches the youth writes books and stands up for our race and all races tbf mans a legend for real!!
Thank u so much. Imma start looking at older interviews and stuff because I can definitely tell that he got a ton of knowledge & wisdom. I can learn a lot from him.
Quality reaction mate, Akala went to a Saturday Pan African school and you can obviously tell he’s a clever fella, also comment for the algorithm
Much appreciated and thanks for enlightening me on Akala’s schooling. Just from me hearing him rap I can definitely tell he has many, many years of wisdom
New sub from uk
Akala fitb part 4 is my favorite of all time
Goat 🐐
Thanks so much for the support! Akala is a absolute BEAST!!! I gotta get some more of his content up on the channel along with other UK artists 🔥🔥
If you got time you need to listen to some of his talks, he gets invited to a lot of universities to talk about social and black history amazingly intelligent man
Guy has influenced me as much as great scientists through history. He’s a power. He educates and keeps it entertaining. 🙌🏼
I love it! I need to check out some of his interviews. I bet he drops sooooo many gems
great reaction.. please react to: Mic Righteous fire in the booth part 2, 3 and 4
Much appreciated and I’ll make sure to get those added to my list so I can knock em out
Going back to his line of assets vs liabilities I read somewhere recently that over 50% of the houses on MTV cribs were actually rented.
O dang. I had no idea about that. Thanks for sharing that information
Shoud check out his sister Ms Dynamite. Boo!!! Is a good starting point
Lowkey fitb 1&2
Hopefully I can get FITB 2 up on the channel soon. I been sick so I got way behind on my vids. I'm back like I never left now tho!
Avelino and Wretch 32 fire in the booth is a must listen
For sure! I believe I have both of them written down along with a lot of other FITB UK artists as well. I should be getting to them soon after I release this next batch of vids I recorded
@@RetroQuinReacts look forward to it the one Avelino & Wretch do together is special.
For sure. I’ll make sure to do that one first then start doing some with them individually
Bro I love your enthusiasm and eagerness to listen and bother to break it down - most US reactions to uk rap is simply to get views and they just watch the video and miss every single bar double and treble cos they’re blatantly not interested. Your views will no doubt sky rocket 🚀 shortly u got a new subscribe from me anyway
I appreciate that so much 🤝🏾. Anytime I check out a new artist I love to learn more about them. It helps me understand them and their music even more
@@RetroQuinReacts you need to check out Kano he is one of the OGs of uk grime - his cadence and flows are unmatched cos it’s effortless.
Kano FITB
Kano & ghetts Class of Deja
@user-uo7uk9pe3p fasho. A lotta ppl been telling me about Kano. I plan to get him up on the channel very soon
Love your reactions, you’re so pure ☺️
Thank u so much. I’m glad that I’m able to provide content that u enjoy ❤️❤️🙏🏾
Hey just found your channel through the akala reacts. I love his music. Also work for frito lol.
@SkarM_x mannnn listen! I got stuff in my inventory as we speak! And more coming 🤣🤣🤣
@@RetroQuinReacts having inventory you don't order sucks. Lol. Ready to watch it tho. Stay with the UK hip hop scene. It's so deep.
Retro Quin please listen old school ghetts D double e old school, wretch 32 old school, Kano please watch Lord of the mics big respect, brother, keep doing the hard work move with your heart. The rest will follow. Man is from the UK Big up the UK. Pirate radio
Akala is 🔥
Also if there is anything in the lyrics that you don't understand due to it being UK slang etc....please let me know I'll confirm
Whenever the media tries to push a racial narrative and i feel like i might be getting sucked in, i remember this.
Why is it U.S gives no Radio Play to UK Rappers exception being Dizzie Rascal or Dave. It's been been 10+yrs now. Rock music never had this problem.
U got a valid point wit that one. I don’t have a answer for that one, but I wish they would because Uk artists are 🔥🔥
Akala doesn’t get radio play in the uk never mind us. He’s independent. Central cee is huge in us and giggs was years ago. but I do agree with u Kano wretch etc- they should know that it’s way broader than just shit drill tunes
His sister is Miss Dynamite.
Thank u. I’ll have to look her up because I don’t kno anything about her
@@RetroQuinReacts she is another talented musician here in the UK. Sadly she hasn't made much music in a good while. But her debut was amazing. And Dy-Na-Mi-Tee was an incredibly catchy single. Worth checking out.
@@JohnDavidSullivanBoo!!! Is one of the greatest UK garage song of all time and her Verses on Envy by So Solid Crew are legendary
Part 2 is really good as well check out Some Kano as well. He’s 🔥
I think I still gotta do part 2 & 3. I plan to start knocking out some Kano soon too
Can you do some immortal technique like point of no return. Or obamanation by low-key. Or the song they did together voices of the voice less
About your question around 2:00 ....
He went to a pan-African saturday school because his mother wasn't happy with the quality of education he was getting.
When I was a kid and in what you'd call 7th grade, my brother introduced me to Akala, I idolized him and became a huge fan. School for me was pretty rough, I went to a lot of high schools because I was bullied pretty harshly, it got to me and I brought that pain home. I was fighting with my family a lot and I was a really depressed 13 year old kid.
My brother worked as a gig promoter and he had a connection with Akala so he told him about my situation and a few days later I got a message from him on Facebook. The message was quite a few paragraphs of pure hope and encouragement. It honestly changed my life. Nothing up to that point in my life had made me stop and think about who I wanted to be, but after that moment I knew.
Thank u so much for this powerful message. I’m glad that u received such a positive inspiration from an icon & legend like Akala. That’s major ❤️🙏🏾
Haven't you already done part 4? Great reaction though, this guy is more than a rapper. He's a historian, an author, a professor, man's a genius. Here's some more about him.en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akala_(rapper)
Thanks for the link and yea. I reacted to part 4 first, but then everyone was telling me to do 1-3 so I’m knocking them all out now
Oh you have so much joy to behold jumping down the UK rabbit hole
Most def! I got a long list to start working on. I’m excited 🔥
Hit me with the poison penmanship reaction. Rhyme asylum and lowkey are must listens.
Got em locked in 🤝🏾
