Mindy Cohn is an icon! Her voice alone is an icon!
Her voice would be **iconic*** and you could hear a thousand older Jewish women in Noo Yawk (probably specifically Brooklyn) with the same accent. But it's charming nonetheless, as is her personality.
Mindy appears to be a genuinely happy & positive person - attributes that not many child actors come away with. Kudos, for her maturity & priorities at such a young age.
Natalie was my favorite character on the show! My favorite line was "I don't want to be pencil thin- I'd rather be a happy magic marker"

So happy for her! Love to hear they all had a genuine friendship. And each actress turned out well. So many child stars do not.
And I suppose non- stars always "turn out well?'

The fact is: these actors keep their private problems , private. They respect each others confidentiality. This is something they do really well .

My TV Writer/Producer Dad Ben Starr was Co-Creator of FACTS OF LIFE & SILVER SPOONS & he wrote the two famous BRADY BUNCH episodes featuring “Porkchops & Applesauce” and “Time To Change It’s Time To Rearrange”. Dad had an amazing 70 year career and worked on many hit shows & films including OUR MAN FLINT, MISTER ED, MY FAVORITE MARTIAN, ALL IN THE FAMILY, CHICO & THE MAN, MORK & MINDY, DIFF’RENT STROKES (Dad also wrote “What you talkin’ ‘bout Willis?”).
My favorite show of all time. Charlotte was so warm, funny and loving as Mrs Garrett. Facts of life made me want to go to a boarding school lol.
I’m 2 years younger than Mindy. I wore my hair just like her. I was also a plump girl. I just love her to bits
In my opinion, Mindy's best hairstyle was during the first half of The Facts of Life's 8th season (1986-87), after Charlotte Rae resigned from the show. Mindy's hair was mid-length, parted on the side, falling on her front, right side of her face (giving that peekaboo effect/or look), straight, with lots of volume, and slightly flipped at the bottoms. She looked absolutely gorgeous, & chic. That was my favorite Mindy's hairstyle during the entire run of the series. 😊👏👏👏
The characters were all archtypes but the actresses animated them beyond that. Good to hear Mindy had a good experience - have always liked her, Kim and Nancy.
It makes me so happy to hear that Jo and Natalie are still best friends. They don’t make TV like this anymore. The show was charming and funny and dealt with real issues in a way that made them palatable while teaching high morals and values. I recently re-watched all 9 seasons as an adult and I highly recommend it, I enjoyed it in a whole different way. They covered important and controversial topics that no one would touch with a 10 foot pole these days but in reality we all need to be talking about. Great interview! Thanks to Mindy not only for entertaining us all those years, but also for teaching us valuable life lessons, the facts of life for lack of a better term
I would love to rewatch all the seasons. Tho, I wasn't into the later seasons with George Clooney...as odd as that may seem. Each actress brought something to the table and could hold their own.

I think Natalie was a lot of people's favorite. She was definitely the favorite in our house growing up.
Why are Americans always choosing favorites? Why don't you enjoy the input of each actor? I had no favorite. It is an ensemble. Each one brings something important. A good director never plays favorites --or if they have one, they keep it quiet

Thanks. Natalie was one of my favorite characters on the show and that was due to Mindy's heartfelt performance. I appreciate how she points out how much has changed in the world since the show without putting the show down or trying to turn it into some form of self-pity about how times have changed.
I thought that too! She was my mom's favorite character because she identified with her. I liked her a lot but but Jo was my favorite because I identified with her. I think that was part of the shows magic...like The Beatles....a character for everyone to identify with.
She's so fantastic, she feels like an old friend. We need more of her, give her a new show!!!

Natalie! I remember the debut of The Facts of Life. Loved it so much as a kid. In the early 90s my friends and I watched a weekend marathon and it was so much fun.
I honestly love her as Velma. I wish she was STILL the voice because she was absolutely my favorite Velma Dinkley. Much love 💕
Sometimes when a friend is having a tough time I just break loose singing the whole Facts of Life theme song all the way through! Of course they feel much better after that! Really!
When the moon is full my sister always says, ‘ohhhhh, I wish I had a boyfriend.’ She’s 73 and happily married for 52 yrs, but I think we always remember that desire, dream, of a young romantic love with the perfect boy! Yeah, I’d really love to have a boyfriend. Memories of a Young sweet ‘crush’ are very real and ever lovely 🥰

Mindy Cohn is so cool! I was a little girl in the 80s, and The Facts of Life was my faaavorite show! I remember taping episodes on VHS and watching them over and over. I loved that Natalie wanted to be a writer, because that's what I wanted to be too.
Mindy has said in two separate interviews it ended in 1989. The truth is NBC wanted a 1988-1989 season but it was decided as a group to not go on. This is why I think Mindy often states it ended in 1989 instead. The finalie gets slack but i feel NBC had big plans to advertise season 10 as the finalie all season. They would have had plenty of time to end it. In fact in season 9 they began the process: that year for the first time the girls where going in separate directions: Jo at the shelter, Blair in law school, Tootie engaged and Nat being a free spirit and doing whatever. They had plans but i think the casts reaction surprised them so thay had to scramble to end it and put attention on the attempted spin offs. They did wrap things up just much faster then anticipated. The finalie was on May 7 1988 and it remained on the Saturday night schedule until Sept 10 1988.

I want Mindy to have a major career resurgence. I know she’s been active and busy, and I’m happy she is featured in the new Kristen Wigg series, but I want to see even more for her. Time has done the opposite of dull her talent and charisma.

To this day NO idea why /how she didn't end up a bigger star and all over major A list shows and movies as a best friend, character actress etc...over the years. Woman could ACT both comedy and drama. Super charismatic & likable, smart, non 'threatening' & seemed quite dialed in w/ maany major stars. Checks every box of who/what producers and writers would love to cast!

watching the show when I was very little with my mom, she always said Natalie was her favorite. I liked Joe but I get it now that I"m definitely an adult and rewatched a lot of the episodes. Mindy seems so much like the character.
