  • The Prokletije, aka the Cursed Mountains (likely due to their foreboding vertical spires, deep winter snows, and inhospitable ruggedness), are a subrange of the Dinaric Alps. The range was formed by the folding resulting from the collision of the African and Eurasian plates. They form a natural border between two countries, Montenegro and Albania.
Trail: It's widely known as the Volušnica trail and it's partly circular. It starts from the peaceful touristic village of Grebaje (Montenegro) and goes up to Volusnica peak (1879 m altitude), Talijanka (2056 m) and Popadija (2057 m), right on the Montenegro-Albania border.
    Elevation: +1000/-1000m
    Length: 11.6 km
    Duration: 5-7 hrs
Overall difficulty: medium-hard (not technically difficult except for the elevation)
    Trailmark: Red and white mark
    Notes:
    1) Accommodation can be found either in the touristic village of Grebaje or further away in Gusinje.
    2) The road is accessible and there is parking space available in the village.
    3) Mobile network coverage is not very good.
    4) We recommend having an offline GPS map of the trail and food supplies. There are no human landmarks or buildings on the trail, only the marks but they are not very visible every time.
