What's Koganei station on the Tohoku-Line like?

I went to take a video of freight train and local train at Koganei station on the Tohoku-Line.
I could shoot locomotives (EH500 Kintaro & EF65) there.
There is Oyama rolling stock yard near Koganei station.

宇都宮までは15両対応ですね。朝夕・湘南新宿以外の小金井以北は輸送力過剰や車両基地の問題で小金井で5両増解結する列車もあるだけで

籠原行きは熊谷行きで小金井行きは小山行きみたいなもので，位置付けも似ている駅なんですね。
武蔵小金井も車両基地がありますね。
郡山行きの牽引機がPFで宇都宮行きの牽引機が金太郎なのが不思議です。

Love the vending machines in Japan. They seem very handy. Like the mixture of passenger trains and freight trains. 15 cars for a local train seems very long? Are there enough passengers?
