I know she is specifically fan of disaster films, but please have Linda in more general reviews. She gels really well with you, and her commetary is on point.
In The Original It Was More Chilling?. In The Original You Could've Seen People Getting Smashed By A Piano In The Legs And Seeing All The Air In Their Body Leave. Also You Could've Seen People Bleeding Already. Hitting Their Heads Into Hard Objects. And Of Course. Having Their Little Bodies Fall On The Ground Or.... *THE TOP*
In my opinion, the ballroom flooding scene is unnecessary for the film. They introduced the captain and Fergie's character, just for the movie to keep cutting back to the ballroom after the capsizing. But they never established those 2 characters for the importance of the film. Like in the 1972 movie, the characters try to save the people from the ballroom but they all ignored them and by ignoring them they literally caused their own death. And by the ballroom flooding in that movie, it made the characters more frustrated in getting out the ship. And in this movie they just ignore the captain and try to leave the ship. Which doesn't make any sense. The only reasonable excuse for leaving the ballroom is Kurt Russell's character, because his trying to find his daughter.
Completely forgot about this flick, remember disliking it intensely, just pales in comparison to the original on every level. Love Linda's input as always!
Im so glad i came across your review. I just watch this on Netflix. and a couple of things stuck out to me 1. The main ethnic characters dies 2. Dylan character seemed so selfish for no reason, until sudden change 3. Nelson character need an arch, he needed to feel something for basically kicking a man to his death 4. The ending when they just laugh as they are being rescued, like dude about 1000s of people have drowned horrifically and they nearly just drowned. But they laugh.... It was so awkward 😅 Thanks for review on it.
It honestly never occurred to me that Josh Lucas' character was the main character. I always thought of Kurt Russell's character as the main character.
I completely love and agree with these points, but about the build up of the wave, seen as it is a rogue wave and not a tsunami (which come from earthquakes and only become actually large waves near shore.) As a rogue wave is spontaneous, you don't get warnings about them, they just happen.
It's nothing compared to the original, but I did enjoy this one after catching it unexpectedly on tv one night. Nice, one off chunk of disposable entertainment : ) LRS = Linda Reigns Supreme! :D
I knew that Iain is gonna get mad at Kurt Motherfucking Russell dying. Even though you know that it's gonna happen because if you're character is a father that has a shitty relationship with his kids in a disaster movie, you're pretty much waiting on death's door./
Totally forgot about this movie! I loved the original as a kid and rewatched it repeatedly on my recorded-from-TV vhs. Then, years later, I drag my wife to the cinema expecting an awesome remake. Fortunately I'm still married.
I never heard of this movie, but then when you guys mentioned Kurt Motherfucking Russel, I was like, Oh shit! Now I have to see this! Good review as always you guys! You too Linda!
The 3 of you did a great job dissecting this remake which I too had mixed feelings about after seeing the original at the theater with my folks in the 70's a hundred years ago! I have both movies on DVD today so I liked it enough to have it in my collection in spite of it's issues.
WOOOOOO!!!!! I've had such a shit day... I swear - y'a'll are like the flux capacitor! And with Linda too!!! Maaaan! This is gonna be hitting 88 miles per hour for sure! Thank you so much!!! (BTW - Watch out, Iain.... I totally still plan to steal her away from you some day! 🤣)
**Liverpool That's because she's modeled after several real ships owned by Cunard, who absorbed White Star back during the Depression, so their offices are still on the same street where they were a hundred years earlier.
The 1st one had alot of my favorite actors & actresses in it it was well written well done and well acted this one had less of my favorite actors & actresses Kurt Russell Josh Lucas 2 of my favorite actors in this updated version that was also well written well done movie I liked this updated version too
I remember seeing this when I was like 17 or 18 and hated it then, because of all the things you mentioned, this guys supposed to be the protagonist? Fuck this guy. And kicking Freddy Rodriguez off, killing off both Kurt motherfuckin Russell and Kevin Dillon, the leads from 2 of the best horror remakes ever, (The Thing/The Blob from the 80's) Those were my favorites in this and they killed them off. I knew it was a remake, and I know I saw the original when I was a kid but I cant remember it.
Hey not meant to sound weird but I swear I saw a group of people that looked exactly like you in a movie theater in the Netherlands, the movie was free guy. Am I right?

At least for me, a catastrophe movie in which we are not given the time and script to make us care for the characters before s*** hits the fan is missing half the fun.
This remake loss me on the ship's glass windows. The film crew were forced to employ thinner glass panels in the grand dining area as the thicker sort, the ones that'd be use on an actual ship of that size, would not break. And even then, those windows would still not shatter. So eventually a combination of water and explosive rounds were used. I realize this product is basically another shitty (shippy) disaster movie, yet the far reaches the film crew had to go just to kill the survivors that stayed behind; it's stupid.
Nout t do with posidon ..soz..but while ago watched the gallows..(was shit) but a loved the story n the hangman charlie.. watchd gallows act 2 the other night n a thought it was no bad .. ....gallows 1 n 2...??????
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. But Iain's tears, those I haven't seen. All those moments will be lost in time, like the tears in rain. Time to die. 😝
This movie isn’t good. Shallow characters outside of Kurt Russell , surprisingly with the actors involved. SFX & set design were good. Nowhere near the original of course, which played recently on IFC. Hollywood ... please do us all a favor....Stop with the remakes, they fail more than succeed.
I absolutely hate this film. It's deplorable. Character's personalities change dramatically from scene to scene just to justify their death. Bloody awful. An hour and forty minutes of your life wasted...

Linda nailed the issue with modern cinema for me - "All the effort went into the visuals, the script and plot were just a side thing". Spot on 😁
Nice to see you back, Linda!
The Poseidon Adventure (1972) is the best
I know she is specifically fan of disaster films, but please have Linda in more general reviews. She gels really well with you, and her commetary is on point.
Great work, as always. Linda added some great insight, have her on again in the future.
Gary-"The ship tries to kill them one more time." Classic!
the capsizing was really well done. bt in the original, it just seemed a bit more chilling.

You guys are seriously helping me through depression.
How are you feeling now?
You know your old when you remember seeing this as your High School Graduation Gift :D Ahhh Life Choices!....
Haha it`s so funny how Pennywise is nodding when gary nods :D
claustrophobia is a real thing guys.
Elena panicking in the vent was very very realistic.
"Super-luxurious yacht" is an interesting way to refer to a cruise ship :P
You can't have a disaster movie without either George Kennedy or Ernest Borgnine it's the rules!
I love the original watch it all the time 👍
The only good thing about this remake is the sexy kurt Russell 🥰
It's nothing compared to the original, but I did enjoy this one after catching it unexpectedly on tv one night. Nice, one off chunk of disposable entertainment : ) LRS = Linda Reigns Supreme! :D
Actually the kid disappearing is a nod to Paul Gallico's original novel, where he's caught up in a stampede and carried away, never to be found.
really? I've never read it.
@@JohnBlack2345 I think you would enjoy it.
is that The Wife? I like her! keep her on!!
What I don't understand is how the Captain could sense the wave. I get that he's experienced, but is that even detectable without equipment?

I actually really liked this version.
25:00 That made me laugh out loud when I saw it 😂😂😂

Where is original "The Poseiden Adventure" review chaps (& Linda)?

the actors and actresses tried...but it had no heart. loved the music though.
WOOOOOO!!!!! I've had such a shit day...

Thank you so much!!!
(BTW - Watch out, Iain.... I totally still plan to steal her away from you some day! 🤣)
I’m sorry, but just imagine the sharks going like “weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee” in the wave 🌊🤣🙃
The worst part was watching Kurt Russel drown with an air pocket behind him.
Hi l like the original Poseidon adventure because the 1 St one l recognized all the characters, that's why l like the old version.
Hope everyone is doing well. Stay safe and much love from Seb
Actually did the Hollywood tour and saw the sets which was amazing. Did you note the Poseidon is now registered from Southampton, like the Titanic?

so if the people on the
top decks were ok
does that mean they
could've been saved
BUT THAT AREA WOULD HAVE BEEN UNDERWATER MEANING THEY DIED FIRST
Iain "well the story follows" Buckingham
We need the original done guys
I think Kurt Russell did this film for an easy pay day lol.
I think the scene with him drinking is how he dealt with making this shit. He looks as miserable as Bruce Willis in Die Hard 5.
Big fan love your reviews. Could you guys do a review for Commando or Last Action Hero ?
Yes, I second commando!
Check out Josh Lucas in Session 9...plus it's a good slow burn of a movie #reviewrequest lol
Really great review guys!!
I recommend the movie WHERE HAVE ALL THE PEOPLE GONE.
When are you going to do Damnation Alley.
In the book the child died ... robin Shelby is lost inside the ship
GARY AND IAIN
PLEASE
REVIEW THE
ORIGINAL 2 POSEIDON MOVIES
I first saw Josh Lucas in Wing Commander IV with Mark Hamill.
As for this film? I can live w/o it.
I prefer the original.
lol man i still remember the trailers.
Sorry about your foot lindaaa
also *Turn Up*
Painful foot was self inflicted lol new tattoo 😁
@@lindabuckingham1792 Very Cool. and Very painful im sure. what tattoo did you get if you dont mind me asking?🤔
Ladybirds 😁
@@lindabuckingham1792 nice! 😁👍
Josh Lucas was decent in Wonderland
Speaking of Kurt Russell; do Escape From New York/L.A.
The film isn’t great, but that wave capsizing scene is phenomenal, better than Poseidon Adventure’s capsizing scene.
I remember seeing this when I was like 17 or 18 and hated it then, because of all the things you mentioned, this guys supposed to be the protagonist? Fuck this guy. Please review Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Hitcher, The Collector movies, It 2017, and Gojira (1954)
Also there is 3 Poseidon films 4 if you include the sequel to the original film
In the book robin died and you don't know what happen to him ... he just disappeared
Cheers guys 😁 👊
Poseidon full movie yes
I plan to soon join y'all's patreon but I have an early request. The Rocketeer!
Pokémon did this too

Could sea of thieves be on for gaming Friday?! Thankyou for the review! Hey Linda! (sorry if spelled wrong, I always get iain' name wrong 😂)
Not the best movie but definitely enjoyed it.

The Original Movie has a Sequel
I saw it in theaters. It was so forgettable, I couldn't remember anything. It's an empty experience. I don't recommend.
At least for me, a catastrophe movie in which we are not given the time and script to make us care for the characters before s*** hits the fan is missing half the fun.
I wish they kept the 25 minutes of character development because the capsize. I didn't care about any of them.
A guilty pleasure for me. A good old fashioned effects blockbuster.

One of the worst disaster remakes of all time it’s not a good or fun film at all it has none of the fun that the original was
