Yep - I probably have other favs but this the first time I've thought as soon as I heard it - yes legitimate chance to win.

hate me, but this is currently the best male ballad in 2024. Slimane is up there as well, but Mustii hit right through my heart and made me feel things I've never felt before. Mustii is just a force to be reckoned with & to all the people who love him on Drag Race Belgique will somewhat be introduced to a more different and more artistic side/facet of him. Aside from being a Eurovision Entry, this is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time.
But with all Belgian entries I fear that they might be too artistic to grab the audience (like Sennek) or artistic enough to reach the audience (like Loic, Blanche and The Hooverphonics did). Belgium does dark pop the best and "Before the party's over" is a/the prime example of that genre. I was expecting a good song, but I didn't expect it to be that good.

It's not really a ballad, it's dark pop, not the same style as Slimane.

The fact that is is a slower song for the first 2 minutes will do it more good than bad I think. Especially since (so far) there are soooo many upbeat 'party' songs in the competition as well. Those last 30 seconds sell it and make it a good earworm that people will remember. In some way, it reminds me of Arcade as well for some strange reason since the similarities are minimal haha!
When Gustaph was seventh, this must be the winner this year imo. Precisely, it might be so that the first two minutes are more impressive live. With all the quality singing, high notes and all that.

Being a more house style fan, I wasn't immediately convinced at the start of the song.
But after the first 2 minutes I really got impressed on how the arrangement builds. (the orchestral approach, the choir)
But doesn't the song require a bit more intense beats, and shouldn't it ideally have ended into a pure solo vocal outburst?
As always, final appreciation will depend a lot on staging, and that's something our country never has been a master in.
Appropriate lighting though, with hopefully an explosion of light at the end, might turn this into a very spectacular experience.
The song definitely should qualify for the finals, but is it perhaps too dark and heavy to reach a top 10 ranking?
I think, just as last year, I might be surprised.
And that's what this diversity contest is all about, is't it? 💛

Enjoyed on first listen, but the final bit drags on a bit long. If live performance of the song includes him changing tones and stretching some of the words for longer instead of repeating it in the same manner and tone over and over, then that’ll be nice. He really should change pitch between some of them if possible to make it more dynamic.
My favourite at the moment along with France and Ukraine.
In all the years I’ve watched Eurovision I’ve never picked Belgium as a contender until today. Belgium’s best song in years. And yes I also expected a banger haha but was shocked in a good way.

I dont worry about you personally not warming up to it, i think we all know by know that slower songs are not your preference. Ballad lovers seem to really like it so i think this will be fine.
For me personally it takes way to get to the actual good part of the song. Ending phenomenal but can't see it winning only because of the ending..

You totally don’t understand the song. This is made to perform live. The building up is what makes this song stand out. This could be the winner this year. It’s a breath of fresh air between so much cheap garbage.

Just because a song is "cheap" and doesn't have a bazillion hours of production put into it doesnt mean that it's garbage imao. And I don't think Belgium's song is that good. To me it's just a big vocal flex that is trying to come off as dramatic and meaningful, but I dont see an artistic vision at all. It really is a song written for the sole purpose of doing good in esc

Currently it's my number one and I don't think it'll change. The only thing is that there should be a great show in the beginning, because it's much better to whach music video than just listen on Spotify. On the other hand the song is not that long and has constant build up, so it's hard to get bored before the 2nd chorus, so I'm sure it will be high with good vocals.
I don't know why, it reminds me of Duran Duran - Come Undone in that pre-chorus part. It has that vibe.
