Appreciate the info. What I'd like to attempt is a refractory concrete version of a rocket stove. I believe the info you showed here is enough to get a material which will work. Thanks
I appreciate how your investigation into things to consider for firebricks applies to more than firebricks! I’m making a cob foundry/kiln and you had some great points that I will consider adding to the design!
I find this SO useful ! A few years back I saved a screenshot from your video showing the recipe: perlite vermiculite cement sand I am now ready to make the mixture myself. I am so pleased to find This video and the "why" behind the additives. Much appreciated 🙏 I subscribed!
Great recipes! Kiln wash on the fire facing side of the bricks would be a cheap way to protect your fire bricks. Equal parts silica and koalin plus a bit of clay. Actually, maybe just try incorporating koalin directly into your fire brick. Hrmmmm. I might have to give this a try myself.
Thanks. I have an idea, probably not a good one, but I was wondering what your thoughts would be on this. I want to make a pottery kiln. I have an old drum from a clothes dryer. Could I make your perlite, vermiculite formula from another video and coat the drum a section at a time with the brick formula? Going around a bit at a time waiting for it to dry and adding another section. I'd try to keep the thickness even all around. Thanks again for your posts and your expertise.

can you make a refractory that can hold 1600 c for melting steel? it probably needs high Aluminium oxide content 70 + percent
Is it safe for baking food?
i also wanted to ask this. can we use it for pizza oven? did you learn anything mate?
