I actually use Snapseed more often. But now, I edit first in Snapseed then Lightroom vice versa. I just wish Snapseed had the noise reduction of the Lightroom. But I love both apps.
Have been using Snapseed for a couple of years and like it's functionality. But l do find that my free Lightroom mobile does a much better job of colour corrections including auto white balance and also auto photo enhancement. It's pretty amazing really. And it does a noticeably better job of raising shadows, they are nice and clean compared to a foggy look using Snapseed. I am just worried l am using up my free gb allowance on the free Lightroom. I only use iPad so not sure about this creative cloud stuff and don't really want to be paying almost $200 a year just to continue using the mobile app. I don't need the cloud stuff or extra features, the free version is all l need but sadly it will stop working soon.
Chris Spiegl l tried to chat online with Adobe but got no answers, just standard links to read. My understanding is the free version does not sync to creative cloud. The free version is soley on the device. To unlock premium features that includes 100gb of creative cloud you either sign up on the Adobe site which indicates a computer is required and costs a minimum of $15 a month ( Australia ) Or it does appear l can upgrade to premium on the actual app and the amount might be $7 a month, though that might be the American rate, Australia might still be about $15 a month. It's possible this might work without the need for computer but l am yet to try it. Not much point me trying now because l think l can edit about 1,000 more photos on the free version until it runs out of free gb. The free gb is listed in the mobile app settings and it seems to drop a little each time l edit a photo then export to my camera roll. So l think it's like a free extended trial version until you've used up your free gb allowance within the app. It is possible this free gb reference refers to the ipads data capacity because l have 2 iPads and the figure sort of resembles the available storage in the ipads. But I would not have thought the Lightroom app would know that information. I will try to get that clarified somehow, if it refers to that then that means the app remains always free and you are only limited by your device storage.
Which is the best option if I don't need filters at all? All I want is colour correction and some basic tools to enhance film photos. Is Lr worth downloading even if I don't have an Adobe subscription?
@@ChrisSpiegl Chris, thanks for your response. Can you tell me other than handling raw files direct from the camera, what about lightroom is better than Snapseed?
@@ChrisSpiegl I've just found out that I can actually use LRM to convert my cr3 files into DNGs. This is very helpful for me as Snapseed can handle DNGs and I'm used to Snapseed and I think it does everything I need it to do. As for managing the library I use Google photos for that. I may swap to lightroom at some point in the future though, or at least give it a month's trial.
I wanted to use Lightroom Mobile because I have a Chromebook and it works great on there but for some reason it stopped syncing edits even though it says I am subscribed
A bit of a false alarm. I found a site that clarifies the term FREE used in the Lightroom mobile settings is referring to free available space on the device. This also makes sense because the figure basicly corresponds to the device information in the ipads actual settings. So the Lightroom mobile version is permanently free unless the user decides to upgrade for some extra features and creative cloud syncing.
Chris Spiegl Sadly It appears RAW files cannot be loaded onto an iPad. I have tried it using the camera connector kit via both the sd card and USB cable methods. I read online that others also discovered this problem. So the fact both Snapseed and LR mobile can edit RAW is of no use. Not unless regarding LR mobile you access the files directly from creative cloud, but then you can't get them to the cloud without first loading them onto a computer. I will go to an Apple Store this week to get them to clarify exactly why ipads can't accept RAW photo files. It's obvious the RAW resolution is about 1 megapixel quality instead of the Nikon D810 36 megapixel quality. I don't care too much, I'm ok with shooting JPEG.
Chris Spiegl In theory the Gnarbox could be good but l would wait to see honest review videos before thinking about it. From review vids the first model was a failure in certain ways including editing. When l download the app for Gnarbox 2 it is in portrait format for phones. If an app developer doesn't realise tablet users need landscape format then they're not thinking too hard. It appears you can only use their editing app to edit, the chances of their editing app being up to Lightroom mobile results would be tiny. I have a feeling it would be better to simply shoot JPEG, load to tablet then edit in LR mobile using its excellent tools rather than edit a RAW on the Gnarbox using a very basic editing app. But that's just my perception based on my requirements.
Chris Spiegl Thanks Chris you're a really nice and helpful guy... I saw PhotoRec review it and it was obvious the onboard editing app was way too flakey but maybe he was reviewing it before the upgrade to allow access to LR mobile. Presuming the Gnarbox 2 is an improved device and also allows LR mobile integration it would be useful. Unfortunately probably no one will review it on the basis of it being used as a stand alone device with their mobile device or tablet. All reviewers will also have cloud subscriptions and a paid LR subscription, so this fudges the review outcome. If Apple stores sell the Gnarbox 2 then it can be purchased with a 14 day no questions asked return policy, otherwise l doubt l would spend about $500 on something that in practice was too involved. Maybe in future IOS updates certain iPhones and iPads will accept RAW files, it's pretty crazy they don't already. But in the meantime shooting JPEG is fine by me. I can get great editing results from a JPEG file, including white balance, shadow and colour correction in LR mobile, and selective edits in Snapseed.
I actually use the same exact 3 editors. I like how I can do different things with each one. I also will import photos I have taken on camera sometimes if I know there is a filter or effect I wanna use that I can't do on Lightroom PC. Nice video my insta is @strepayphoto if you wanna check it out thanks.
Chris Spiegl also very nice Instagram gallery you have also. I just subbed your channel as well as follow you on Insta. great work can't wait to enjoy more content. 👍
Chris Spiegl yup after watching your video, I tried using Snapseed and yup it's golden. The 2 most recent photos I posted on Instagram were edited using Snapseed. Thanks for the great video!
in conclusion if ur a pro use snapseed if ur a 14 year old girl use vsco and use lightroom if ur godlike
also the healing brush in Snapseed is highly functional.
The one in lightroom cc is way better
Nope, retouch app is better for healing
I use snapseed because I can import raw files. Lightroom mobile needs an extra payment.

I dont use snapseed but i use lightroom and vsco, and i choose lightroom because sometimes vsco dont giving difference effect in my photo
What should I keep if I want to keep only one of the editing apps

Pixlr is also a nice app.
Useful video. But its kinda creepy when he talks without BLINKING?! How??
The issue I have is I can't get my canon files cr3 on to Snapseed, at least without a very convoluted path. I'm tempted to buy lightroom mobile

Nice in depth review man
Helpful review of these. Would have been great if the view of the app took prominence over the view of your face as you were talking.
No worries. Helpful video. Keep 'em coming!
Chris Spiegl I'm using Snapseed.. And do check my ig profile yuges._
So snapseed is better right??..make a tutorial

I prefer to used lightroom it's easy to use..
I'm really confused whether I should go with snapseed or vsco. 😶
Actually I'm running out of my phone's storage so i need one if them for my edits. Otherwise I love both the apps.
@@ChrisSpiegl Can i uninstall Huji cam?? As snap also have the same filters.
Tysm 😄
@@ChrisSpiegl Ok 😄 Tysm
@@ayeshasayyed4901 Snapseed is the most useful and gives more functionality/control over the image
