- Why hasn’t Canada been invaded since 1812?
Apart from the citizens being very friendly, Canada’s geography is an incredible deterrent
they have one of the longest coastlines on earth. And a lot of it is incredibly rugged
an enormous amount of the land in Canada is mountainous as well, making it difficult for any potential invader to traverse efficiently
Canada also has incredibly strong Allies, such as the United States, and NATO.
Having the big dogs as your southern neighbor is a huge advantage
If Canada were to be invaded by anyone, the US would almost assuredly step in, as they would fulfill their treaty obligations.
And also, a threat to Canada would be taken as a threat to America as well
As far as foreign policy goes, Canada isn’t a complete saint, as they have carried out join military operations with the US and other Allies
Another favor is that Canada just isn’t a sought after area of land.
While Canada has a lot of natural resources, no nation would feel that it would be worth it to conquer Canada just for some oil and lumber

Don't forget recognizing the Crown as head of State Canada is a member of 57 common wealth countries, an attack on it would be the same as on Britain or of the any of those other nations and would require all of them come together to defend.

Some political parties in Canada (*cough* Conservative *cough*) are trying to adopt negative policies that America has made. Canada used to be one of the safest places to be 2SLGBT, but not anymore. The conservative party has made one of their running promises to remove the rights of trans people that have been in place in Canada for a few years already, all because of the American anti-trans bills being passed.

As a resident of BC near quite a few hydro electric dams, I've even toured in them, it's wicked awesome to listen to the roar of the generators big enough to provide that much power, more so when you look up and down the river at the chain of other dams all adding to that, each a behemoth structure in it's own right with some being fairly new and others over 100 years old but modernized enough to keep rocking on
The clean air we have thanks to a zero need for coal or oil powerplants is just a bonus

But Canada has consistently carried WAY more than it's fair share in its own defence - and others. And that includes two world wars, for ALL of 'em.
I can only speak as I find, of course. But Canadian soldiers have a MASSIVE reputation for valour and endurance among friend and foe.
My grandad and great-uncles served with Canadians - and Anzacs too - in the first war. (Six out of eight great-uncles were killed, by the way, and grandad was at sea with The Grand Fleet). But Uncle Maurice LOVED the Canadians. He fought with 'em at Paschendaele in 1917. Maurice lost a leg there - whilst earning an MC - but never lost his utter respect for Canadian soldiers. When he told me, as a kid, that I should 'visit the Princess Patricia's' at The Menin Gate, I did.
I've also visited sacred, Newfoundland ground at Beaumont-Hamel...
Of course, I've paid my respects to glorious, American dead in The Argonne, too. But there's (baldly-put) not very many of 'em.

Compared with the sheer scale of sacrifice, of the Canadians in WW1, the USA's sacrifice was very small, sad to say.
And then when you visit Verdun, or Chemin Des Dames and witness the sacrifice of the French...

Second war? Dad was in from the start; 1939. Joined the RAF rather than his university straight after his 18th birthday...
Lost an eye within six months. Good because I wouldn't be here, otherwise.
Spent the years 40-43 'training other folk to die' as he put it, sadly and modestly. He 'trained the trainers', essentially because the war lacked folk who'd had experience of aerial combat who were still alive by late 1940.
So he trained 'posh' English blokes, Aussies, Kiwis, Czechs, Poles, Americans, Canadians (both Anglo and French)...
Whom did dad rate the most highly? ALL OF THEM is the short answer... Quotes, in double speech marks, are extracts from dad's correspondence, which I still cherish.
In rough order, from memory
1) New Zealanders because "they were the toughest, most skilful and disciplined (think All Blacks rugby team)."
2) Australians - because "they were the most independently-minded but, once missions were explained, they just 'got on with it did it, buried their dead and marched"
3) Canadians. "More disciplined than the Aussies, but possessed less 'flair'" but "extraordinarily 'fine body of men who simply wouldn't give up"
4) 'Czechs and Poles were just "lunatics' so we just had to let them get on with it. Loads of flair and élan. They just wanted to kill Germans."
He had a relatively low opinion of 'posh' Brits and Americans, I'm afraid..."Thought they knew everything"... "Misplaced confidence"...."A lot of them died because they didn't seem to value their ears."
Of course, dad went off to fight the Japs in mid '43 before your guys arrived in big numbers. But his opinions of Empire Troops were similarly forthright... He ADORED Gurkhas, Rajputs, Sikhs and Pathans... In fact, Pathans were his ultimate favourites...
If anyone tries to invade Canada, they'll be reminded why we were the most feared soldiers in both World Wars.

All Brit regulars and territorials at that stage. I don’t think your wonderful fighting men - and the superb Lahore Division - arrived until February’15.
