- Reviewing Season 2, Episode 10 of "Saved By the Bell" - Model Students.
In order for the school bookstore to make money, Zack has to get pictures of the girls in their bathing suits and then make a calendar. The calendar is so good that a magazine wants to feature the girls - and the man calling the shots just picked Kelly to go to France for a month without a chaperone. What... what is happening here?

To be fair about the boom mics, this was filmed in a time where the TVs cut off the edges of the image. They probably never envisioned there being a format where they would be visible.
That's a valid point. There's probably a lot that the producers didn't think we'd be dissecting decades later.

I have a 90's Zenith TV and the first few seasons on DVD. Will test this in the next few weeks. Was wondering why I didn't catch these boom mics until decades later. Even rewatching the series in college (when I bought the DVDs), never noticed them.
It's even worse on shows made for 4:3 aspect ratios that have been 'converted' to 16:9 widescreen and you see all sorts of things you definitely weren't meant to see, such as camera and lighting crew. Buffy's widescreen version in 2015 got a lot of flack about that. Friends is another where you can now see stand-ins for the main cast at times (which is a bit trippy for example when the usual cast don't notice that is NOT Jennifer Aniston as Rachel) and even a chunk of wall missing from the apartments where there should be. :P
I like that Tootie ... errr .... I mean, Lisa ... doesn't think that her front is her "good side." Facts of Life did this episode with a roughly 12-tear-old Kim Fields. Gross.
also ... I like the presidential approval transitions, but you should have used photos of Trump actually sniffing children.

I was always waiting for the episode where we found out Kelly's dad was a little too friendly with his kids (dude always looked like a creep to me). Never happened, though, so i guess his crimes will just go unpunished

If this episode of Saved By the Bell were to have been made today, Mr. Belding would’ve definitely gotten into a lot of trouble and get fired from his job as a principal for allowing stranger on school grounds without a background check.
It's amazing the hoops I have to jump through just to watch my kid perform a five minute monologue about Abraham Lincoln in fifth grade. Then again, some people are crazy and shouldn't be allowed on school grounds.

Ah yes, the problematic episode this was. It can easily fit my Tori Paradox fix. They didn't mention what year they were in and Kelly goes off to model while Zack macks on Tori and Lisa for a month. Jessie headcanons her way to ap college prep classes at a near by college.

So it's more #DestigmatizeOlderDudesCheckingOutUnderageGirlsInSwimmingSuits. To which I'd say: In 98% of situations, if any third party can tell you are checking out any person then you are doing it wrong and it's likely creepy. That other 2% would be, like, swingers clubs or any time you are incredibly good looking with cash falling out of your pocket.

Also, very strange that the "fashion" guide just so happened to show up when all the girls where there at once (just a strange "coincidence..." but we know how TV land works...EVERYTHING is "coincidental").

I see that you used the "Telephone" effect for your "second voice" in the rap...very well used. If I can make a suggestion (of course, it's just a thought), for your vocals, you could put a vocal enhancer (to smoothen the voice track), add a bit of "Full Reverb," (give it that "Production" feel), and at the END of each stanza, you could put echo (so that the last word plays out)...that's what I did in that song.
BUT, again, just a suggestion. I see you are having fun with it, and that is what is most important there!

I used to use Adobe when my work paid for it. Now it's just GarageBand. Which is fine. This is a lo-fi channel and the DIY quality endears it to me.
@@savedbythebelldeepdives Yeah, about the same; Adobe products are not cheap (not incredibly expensive though). I've got an older version (cc 2022) of the Master collection (grant money is useful, yeah?!), but I can't afford the newer updates on my own dime.

What I think doesn't work is to actually dog the show for it's themes. It's a kids show and it's written for them. I was the generation that grew up watching SBTB and none of us took anything away from that show other than just good old zany kid fun. It's almost perverse to judge it thru the lens of a mature adult. Hence the ick it makes you kinda feel.

I agree that judging too harshly what was done in a show can be bad form and make you cynical. I try to give the writers the benefit of the doubt in most instances, but this one seemed a bit too much. "Running Zack" is going to get similar treatment -- though I more lament what could have been than what it is.
I don't care, it's a sitcom for kids with a wacky premise! 😝

To be fair, those political images were on point with the topic.
I'll posit that the use of the images only seems political since Trump is a political figure. I chose them more for the fact that he is the highest profile figure with a very well documented past on being pretty creepy with the ladies. I made this video while he was president, so the Stormy Daniels verdict we just got is really only a coincidence. If I had made the video more recently, Diddy would certainly have fit the bill.
