I was a thurifer and I was never told to do anything like that. Only one I did was the diamond but i only did that when I served at the cathedral parish in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Disgraceful! Having the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance whilst the priest is gossiping, plus disparaging a bishop at the end of the flick show that Maquire is indeed over his priesthood and probably can't do anything else at this point to earn his daily bread. really sad
