Fleetwood parkrun is one of my local one's, it's almost impossible to get a good day down there 😂 it's a perfect course if you can, but that still day is like a unicorn there.
Oh no they sound better than the one. Slightly nervous about the heel rub comments- I had problems with rubbing with the vapor fly. The alpha fly one did not give me the same heel rub.
Heavy 65 yr old heel striker (83 kg 184cm but with small feet!). Loved the AF1. Wore it for everything but wore out two pairs (outsoles gone, ruptured pods). Can't find any more in my size here in France. Now using the AF2 but not as economical of effort over longer runs/marathon as can't bounce along Tiger style! Feels great on track though at higher cadence when moving onto forefoot. The A2 has a more durable outsole but the heel foam is now splitting. I think shoes need rating for user weight and cadence. Ultimately this is all physics, resonance, critical damping. One day shoes will have adjustable springs & damping.😅
Loved the original alphafly for race day pace and definitely helped me towards some strong times. Personally the biggest thing I’d call out is for me they are a race day only shoe. On anything but good quality roads i found them more of a hindrance, especially on pavements with dropped curbs etc.
I bought some of these for Amsterdam marathon, tried them out yesterday and they gave me terrible blisters on the arch of my right foot and left foot small toe. Currently deciding if I should persist with them or sell them as I've only done 20 miles in them. Didn't feel too bad while running, but think I'll be sticking to the vaporflys for the race.
I’ve never run in a Nike shoes before and I am wondering if it is time to give this alpha fly a test. I’ve lived in the Adios Pro 2 and the New Balance RV Elite V2. I’m more a 5:45-6:00m /km person with the longer runs …maybe down to 5:00/km for a short 5K race day.
Around here, in canadian dollars and with sales tax.. it would be around 500$.. thats starting to feel crazy for a pair of shoes.. and this is from someone with an 8 shoe rotation.. just theres so much variety, dedicating so much to one pair seems a bit much
Hi, Regarding the painful arch in v1, Im wondering if you could find someone who has a problem with the v1, have him try on the v2 and see if the v2 eliminates the arch fitment issue?!?! Thanks
I thought it was the opposite? Also f the back of the shoe has a sharp angle it takes pressure off the back ??? I need a good shoe for working on concrete all day and I’ve noticed the sketchers max cushion is a five drop with a high angle on the heel and it’s a comfortable shoe and I’m trying to bump up to a Nike for an even more comfortable shoe so your saying I should stay with a Low drop number?
For me the alphafly 1 is the fastest most uncomfortable shoe available. I have two innersoles in to combat the high arch but I still get blisters. But I still wear them for races because of the speed and my legs stay fresher for longer and days after. Not perfect but what is.
@chinito Pogi I don't have a high arch I have a low one. I run adidas pro 3 for racing, asics superblast and saucony speed 3 for training. I get no issues with any other running shoes other than nike alphafly.
I went 0.5 size down in the Alphafly 1 as I seemed to have too much room in the toe box . I’m a big fan of the first version and the marathon is my preferred distance, also heading to Berlin later in the year. Do either of you find the shoe over roomy in the toe box at all ?
I have the Alphafly V1. I find the "negative drop" a problem. The back of is soft but the front is hard.. Killing my calfs. Do the front air pods get softer with time?
Hello RT. Apologies but I have a sizing question please. My foot measures 260mm heal to toe without socks.Obviously I’ve watched (and rewatched) this and other videos re:Alpha Fly 2 sizing and you recommend TTS but I don’t have any Nike running shoes to compare. All my Nikes are older style casual shoes. Air Jordans, SB Dunks etc and they’re all US10 (UK9) mens and there is a thumb width gap (20mm) in front of toes. I like that fit because they’re mostly all leather and quite padded so the width is perfect for me. I have the Adidas Ultraboost 20’s in a US9.5 which fits better. Only a 5-7mm gap in front of toes so I’ll admit I’m probably a tts of 9.5. You show an on foot shot in this video and there is a slight gap for you too. Do you have an actually barefoot measurement please? That way I can determine what size to buy. Probably US9.5. Thanks.
When Nike get them back in stock I can get these for £206 (25% off). I can get V1 for £180 so the price isn't a huge difference, but do you feel the V2 is definitely better than V1?
i'v both the V1 and v2 - the v2 defo has a better arch fit that doesnt have the pinch that the v1 has, but the wider heel foam and higher stack doesnt give the feel of a fast shoe. the v2 doesnt seem to have the same pop as the v1. having said that i pb'd a 3.05 in dublin marathon last month in the v2 so its defo not a slow shoe which is a bit weird. iv over 500km in the v1s and still in super condition, so maybe with more km's ( only have about 80km) in the v2s they might start to ''liven up''. seem on another vlog that the v2's are 4mm shorter than the v1s ?? just bough another pair of v1s today on nike for €130 (bargin even if i only use them for training sessions).
Thanks, the Edge is on it’s way now to test, but atm I (Nick) would go for the Vaporfly over the Sky. We’ll have a video comparing those two up later today actually!
Mike, great video😊 One question for you. I'm a similar runner to you for pace on race actually. I run HM and M with Next o Next 2. My question if the Alphafly sounds already like a horseshoe when impacts against the floor are perhaps the new ZoomX mini cape under the Airpods has made dissapear the scary noise. I really tempted to try run races with Edge+ because seems so similar to Next😊
most of my running shoes (various brands) I got in size 44. Exeption is Vaporfly Next% (1 and 2) - 44.5 (I put my own insoles inside). Based on that info, should I buy Alphafly2 also in size 44.5?
@@TheRunTesters thank you 🙏 I could never decide between 11.5 or 12s in the old one My normal size 12s seemed too long so settled with 11.5 in the old version Iv ordered some and Can’t wait to try them for my self
Regarding the Arch Support. I have only tried the shoes in the shop. Needed the two pull tabs to get them on. I have flat feet and love arch support but it feels extreme in the Alphafly. Does it really keep the foot from caving in? (I tend to get used quickly to high arch in shoes) .
I'm a huge fan of the original Alphafly. Here in the U.S., the Alpha fly is being discounted as low as 200 dollars (U.S.). The Alphafly 2 is so ugly that I would probably stay with the 1 for the cost savings and it's slightly less hideous appearance.
If the drop is upped from 4mm to 8mm, then the 2 might be worth it. The first version can trash your calves a bit more because of the lower drop, especially if you’re not used to the gait it wants you to run with.
I wanted to try it in the Nike store. I took the same size as my alphafly 1 but impossible to put it on... the low heel is too hard and not much space... did you also feel the same difficulty putting it on?
I find the next 2 quite longer than the original alphafly. How does the alpha 2 fit in? 😊 The original next was more similar to the original alpha. That is why I wonder. Thanks

Crossing my fingers that the arch will be less aggressive for me in these. I have slightly flat feet and ran 2 miles in the Alphafly 1's before my entire right leg went numb. Unwearable for me but they felt so amazing otherwise.
Nick Harris-Fry- on vacation yet still turning out review content. That's commitment!
Haha, takes a special shoe for that!
Fleetwood parkrun is one of my local one's, it's almost impossible to get a good day down there 😂 it's a perfect course if you can, but that still day is like a unicorn there.
Haha it would be so fast on a still day for sure. I’ll keep an eye on the forecast next time I’m up!

Well done on the review. I really enjoy the way you present the details. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻
@Nick: see you in Berlin. 😜
Thanks and see you there!
Omg!! I want a pair! 😍 great review!
Always enjoy the videos, neat to look at but I am not about to spend that much for running shoes to make me a little less slower.
Loved the original alphafly for race day pace and definitely helped me towards some strong times. Personally the biggest thing I’d call out is for me they are a race day only shoe. On anything but good quality roads i found them more of a hindrance, especially on pavements with dropped curbs etc.
Yep they really need good conditions to thrive
By far the smartest shoe out imo
Santa got his letter I want a pair lool
I hope they bring a pair to Nike by you soon

They should make the foam black. They look huge.

I must be a child of the godess Nike!!.....The Alphafly is THE easiest shoe to get on 😅......go on as smooth as hot butter....all in the technique 🤣👍
Hahaha reveal your secrets!
Tilt the shoe @ a 90 degree angle and turn it laterally as u slide ur foot in…& boom
Good to hear, I will have mine tomorrow. Vaporfly has been my go to but finally pulled the trigger on the alpha. Thanks for being honest.

Hi,
Regarding the painful arch in v1, Im wondering if you could find someone who has a problem with the v1, have him try on the v2 and see if the v2 eliminates the arch fitment issue?!?! Thanks
Higher drops means less foam under the forefoot. Can you feel it?

I (Nick) found it just the right level of roomy, especially for marathons. See you in Berlin!
@@TheRunTesters thanks , good luck for the training block and race mate
You too, very excited to get going with training for it!
Waiting for Nike to release the 0-gram vaporfly then I'll definitely get a pair.
Hi fellas...if I am a UK9.5 in New Balance RC Elite...would I be the same size in the Alphfly...does it fit to size?

Thanks for the review. Any thoughts on the arch support. Lots of people added another innersole to deal with the narrow arch support in the V1s
The arch is less noticeable in the 2 I’d say, but I (Nick) didn’t have problems there with the 1

@@TheRunTesters Awesome...funny how a 2:29 marathoner is a shuffler...
Haha different styles work for different runners it seems! I’ve always been a high cadence shuffler, not elegant, but gets the job done for me :)
Are these good for running on the treadmill? I got pretty bad feet that damage easy as far as wear and tear goes.
The UK price is £269.95 in the email I had this morning or £274.95 directly from Nike.
Great thanks!
I the arch as aggressive as the original? Felt quite pinchy in the mid section

Oooooo I’m dazzled for sure
It looks like it should have a propellor on the back😄
Got a pair of V.1's for £179, not worth paying the extra £90 for V.2

Too bad they won’t release the color to everyone and they’re going to release some super bright ugly color
