Fun fact: In 2013, a previously discovered Pterosaur fossil was found to be a brand new species and was given the name Aerodactylus. Named directly after the Pokémon Aerodactyl.
*_Episode trivia:_* - There are two Indiana Jones references in this episode. Gary's digging clothes are very similar to Indy's, and later, when Ash is attempting to put out the fuse lit by Team Rocket, they roll into a boulder. - This marks the second time that Ash had two Flying-types in his team simultaneously. The last time was when he had Butterfree & Pidgeotto, and the third time doesn't happen until _Diamond & Pearl_ - Pikachu uses an Electric attack on Kabutops; however, the Kabutops is unaffected as if it were a Ground-type, despite Kabutops being a Rock/Water-type and weak to electric attacks. This is most likely because during the first season, it is often incorrectly stated that Rock Pokémon are immune to Electric attacks.
Yeah Pikachu didn't think that one all the way through. Charmeleon gives zero Fs to help Ash right now. Ash's 1st encounter with fossil Pokemon & we finally get MY BOY! LFG! Hey where'd that Egg come from?
