I think Kimbra is one of the best talents i have seen in a long time, style range etc, Not as keen on the Pop Princess they are trying to make her into...I prefer the Kooky Jazz girl who pulls faces. She's amazing! Drummers haircut is a "high top fade" btw.
I only came here after hearing the recording sounded different than the love and I agree. She sounds so much better live than when the studios edit her voice. They should keep her with her pure, beautiful voice. I love this 3
I think it isn't that she's performing badly; it's clear from this and other of her live performances that she can sing conventionally "well" at an impressive range of pitches; but rather that she's having fun in these KCRW performances. Experimentation often doesn't work out the way a vocalist wants, so many musicians (especially pop artists) don't risk their reputation to have fun. Kimbra was brave to take such risks during this performance!
Wonderful live presentation of the original. The original is so clean, and this is a nice way to make it more alive. Singers that just sing the original exactly as it is, will often either make music as if it was live music in the first place, or mimics the song to a playback track.
That could be, or maybe since it wasn't shot in their usual format they didn't want it available (like with the side view mostly of Kimbra) due to the technical problem that was mentioned right before the session began. I actually think the Billboard tastemakers videos of her are better quality, it's just too bad there's only a few songs on that session, but she played Withdraw which is amazing!
here's post from KCRW on their website about that: Hi All So.. the video system totally crashed about 2 minutes before the session started! Luckily though, we were able to get two cameras into the room to shoot for the archives. They are in the editing process now and will be up in the archives here soon! So sorry that you guys couldn't watch along live, but please enjoy the video once we've uploaded it! Thanks
It seems like you don't know how singing works. Singers can hit those high notes fairly easily without it seeming like it took much effort. However, the next day, they could be struggling to hit those notes they so easily hit the previous day.
You know, I've grown to be quite the fan of hers....this version is not so good tho. I wish she would come out with a live album from SING SING studios. She has a few videos on youtube from that, and the versions of her songs from that recording rival even some of her album recordings. Her Settle Down recording from that is SUPERB. She was just really in sync w that band I guess. They sounded amazing.
So, I know I found it under KCRW>Music>Video:In Studio within the last 2 days, and it's gone now... It seems like there are tonnes of other artists still in the archive. Makes me wonder if they have plans for it? (At least a couple of the tracks were the best versions I've heard so far.)
why isn't she more popular? I feel like she can bridge the gap between what mainstream likes and indie. Maybe she is just too good and is over the heads of the mainstream...
The whole session was on their site for awhile, but looks like they've removed it now. If you were lucky, you got the whole thing downloaded in full...without interruptions. :-) Just sayin'
Do have any proof that those performances were Auto-Tuned? Because there's no indication that they were, and people are too quick to say that a live performance was Auto-Tuned because they can't believe that anyone can sound that good live.
That rhythm section is sick!!! Drums and bass ... The whole band is TIGHT!!!!
It's really cool that she actually sings her songs live... they aren't exactly easy to sing!
a tip : you can watch series on instaflixxer. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Davian Abel yup, I have been using instaflixxer for months myself :)

one word: AMAZING! Everythings good coverall.. her! Love her voice!

Best version of "Cameo Lover" ever!!!!!
I didn't realize she had so much range. I'm impressed.
What a fabulous singer - loved her with Gotye and she's awesome on her own! WOOT!
Oh wow, her voice is so smooth!
Ese músico de Kimbra es multifacético, hace coros, toca teclado, percusión y ahora el bajo
so much talent!! Kimbra is fantastic recorded and live - can't wait for her next album!
Kimbra is great as always, but can we talk about the drummer killing it on this track? 101% smooth.

Amazing!
i just realized how much i got her the other day!

hopefully!!!
Uh...whatttt.. Wow so happ y I came here. Aaawesome
She sounds Great - The Drummer reminds me of Tim Finn of Split Enz
OMG I'm in love with girl!
I agree with you, Colette!!!!
here's post from KCRW on their website about that:
Hi All

Right on, man
rocks!
Glad that you appreciate her Sophia ;)
She's more unique and talented than mainstream pop. Small minds (kids) can't appreciate her.
She looks and acts so much older than she is. I like her hair. lol
check out full live set at KCRW... speechless... and crazier than Sing Sing at many times
canta muito!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool!
Maybe, but I didn't just see one performance of hers. I can't say I was impressed by a majority of them.
WOW!!!
You may be able to find a download of it somewhere online if you look hard enough. It's about 500mb total.
wow!
I love kimbra, but I can't help but watch this and think of Jessie j. Especially when Jessie did her live studio sessions.
Her had motions remind me of my music teachers in school.
he's just rockin the Kid n Play
Awesome

Check out my quiet acoustic cover of it. I love this song so much, I love Kimbra so much.. I sort of want to be her...
What happen to the Sing Sing bonanza...? Glad she came by. Oh is there a reason why Morning Becomes Eclectic isn't working anymore in iTunes?
You know, I've grown to be quite the fan of hers....this version is not so good tho. I wish she would come out with a live album from SING SING studios. Yeah. Kimbra = Amy - Alcohol - Drugs + Happiness

Thank you, I will do it :)
why isn't she more popular? I feel like she can bridge the gap between what mainstream likes and indie. Maybe she is just too good and is over the heads of the mainstream...
cool
Hey - it's back:D
Dear Drummer: Give us that hair back. Sincerely, 1988.
ps: Love you Kimbra.
there are better versions of this song online - check out her version on her youtube site at Sing Sing studios
Is there any chance that you will upoload the other songs too? It was a WONDERFUL session :)
The whole session was on their site for awhile, but looks like they've removed it now. If you were lucky, you got the whole thing downloaded in full...without interruptions. :-) Just sayin'
WoW..!!..:D...
terribly good version, :D
This version is better than the official "pop dance" video.
Maybe she won't, but she'll transcend.
Oh hey there Johann.
re-upload the full session please!
damm girl, I can`t concentrate because of your hands -_- but your voice... incredible
I shall learn to dance with my hands
For a second i thought she was singing into the mic thats closer to the camera ... that really mind fuked me haha

i wished the camera was facing her face more not only her profile.
3:10
the kid n Play
CAMEO TOE
What's with the weird side view and the sound. He voice and tamberine are so loud :( I love her and her music. So it's still kool :)
Nice .. but she is not Amy (sorry) I loved her in "Somebody I Need to Know" though
What's the drummer's hairstyle called?
