I know that this wasn't a regular video of yours and it was just for the challenge but this video was SO helpful an I'd love to see a weeks meal prep be a continuing series! So glad you're back! :)
For the curious, 100 canadian = about 75 usd. 89 canadian, what she spent, is about 67.50 usd. Still almost my budget for the whole month in one week but I'm not complaining, lot's of staples left over! And I'm just glad she's back
molly thanks for breaking it down! That makes a lot more sense in my head lol 67 is a little more than I spend usually but I tend to shop in places like Aldi and Trader Joe’s where food is cheaper
Lauren this was super helpful, I`m struggling so much with being creative & cheap & vegan in kitchen recently, this comes just in a right time. Please consider doing more of these kind of videos in the future
Used my currency converter and this broke down to $66 US dollars for those wondering. This could EASILY be stretched for two weeks especially with the extra $12 CAD you didn't spend. So essentially this is about 40-50 CAD per week... Which from the comments I can tell is a big difference from the amount you'd get in US with USD$. And with TONS of variety at that. Well done!!
This is *immediately* better than any other budget vid I've seen cause it made sure to include coffee beans in the $$...hot for food gets me...WELCOME BACK 💚
I'd love to see more videos like this! Always looking for new and creative ideas to make meals for a week! Thanks for the comeback we've all been waiting for :)
OMG! THIS IS AMAZING! Food can get really expensive, especially when I buy 100$ worth of groceries and I have no clue what to make with it, I would love more videos like this!
Luv this 100$ challenge❣️it would be so neat if you did this challenge once a month with different meals. This really helps with meal planning , thanks❣️
I love how you're using some of the extra food to create other dishes. Reduces a lot of food waste. Plus, everything looks so good. Can't wait to try them out!
Fantastic! Honestly the more of these the better. I agree with some of the comments below- it’d be really great to see just how far you could stretch $100 for those of us with really limited food budgets. But this was great and I can’t wait to make some of them this weekend!!
88 canadian is about 58 euros, that's about the budget I spend every week cooking for me & my boyfriend (together) , but we mostly eat the same thing for lunch and a diffrent thing for dinner (rarely any leftovers tho because we eat everything in one go mostly :p) but these recipes look alot like how I cook in my day to day life ^^ nice inspiration. I wonder if you could do a smaller budget than that still, would be interesting!
PLEASE do more videos like this in the future!! i loved it. so many good recipes that aren’t boring, and are fairly simple to make. easy to follow! going to do all of these today as it’s sunday so i could prep for the upcoming week. yes yes yes queen
Brilliant, Lauren! More meal plans like this would solve my problems of spending too much time in the kitchen on weekdays, food waste at the end of the week, and leftover fatigue (anyone else hate eating the same thing every day??)
PERFECT meal plan for someone who cooks for a living! I cook everyday at work, so I enjoy cooking for myself everyday but not for every meal. Meal plans that saved all of the cooking for one day were too difficult to follow and were boring, but cooking 2-3 times a day also sucked! Definitely incorporating some of these ideas and recipes into my routine
OH MY WORD LAUREN THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING!! I dont even eat as much food as u showed so I'm definitely going to do this next week for my twin and I:) please do more of these I'm always looking for new meal prep ideas
I totally binge watched all your old videos while you were gone! I know you needed/wanted the break, but you have no idea how happy I was to see your two videos uploaded today in my notifications. One down, one to go! I really missed you!
What I love about this is is that even though these are easy meals, I am SURE it has that "hot for food" touch and tastes amazing! I can't wait to try. I haven't tried 1 of your recipes that didn't give me that WOW factor. :) I route for more of these type of videos and I cant't wait to try these meals in a week soon!
Thank you for acknowledging the reality of eating for cheap in Canada! Groceries are so expensive where I live and I don't believe I could do $100CAD for the week (especially being celiac). Thank you for the inspiration!!
I love the video and so glad that you are back!!! YES, please please do another meal plan! A lot of other meal plans that I see online don't have anywhere near the kind of flavor that your meals have!
The intro was the cutest thing ever😍😍😍💛wow, Lauren this video was so amazing, I can see there was so much work put into it, we thank you soooo much. I loved it, I can’t wait to send my friends to see how many amazing vegan meals you can make on a budget😍😍
Yay you are back!!! And rocking it! I think I may turn a few folks vegan with this video. I live for and love meal prep, so I would love to see more Hot for Food meal prep challenges like this!
This was simply amazing. my favourite video yet. I spend way more than $100 per week (In Canada), food is simply more expensive here - and even more expensive where i live. Thanks Lauren!
@@hotforfood - Whaaa?! Really?! I feel like it was fun to watch! I enjoyed the editing and concept of the video. Plus, we got lots of recipes out of it!
This is pretty similar to how I meal prep for my family of six (two adults, 4 kids)! We tend to do fewer recipes/soups/curries and more plain whole foods like roasted sweet potatoes (kids have simple taste), but I definitely buy way WAY more fruit! That’s also probably why our food bill is more like $200/week. That, and the amount of bread we go through with a bajilliondy nut butter sandwiches.
My mom lost her job recently so the grocery budget has been tighter than usual...videos like these are so helpful for when you want variety in your meals but still need to use simple ingredients🤷🏻♀️thanks for the awesome video lauren♥️
This was spectacular!!! What would I do? Breakfast: coffee Lunch: nothing, already overwhelmed!! Lol. Dinner: takeout vegan pizza. Every night. 🤷🏼♀️ that’s what we have our Hot For Food channel for!!! Lol soooo good to have you back!!!🥰❤️
You are god sent with your cooking creativity! I am on a vegetarian journey With my next phase being vegan. You help inspire me to get better at cooking.
She's back!!! Fantastic video Lauren! I appreciate all the simple, easy vegan meal ideas you offered up here. Every time I see or buy a kabocha squash, I think of you!
Wowowow! so many amazing hot for food recipes in one video with a grocery list to go with it?! I kiiiinda just want to recreate this entire week's meal plan myself! Thank you for this, Lauren!!!
One of the first benefits of going vegan in the beginning was cheaper groceries! I spend around $250 a month on groceries for 2 people. Favourite cheap lazy meal's : Spanish beans and rice!
Welcome back!!!! I think the last time I spent 100$ on food for a week was way back when I was eating animals and living in the US! 😂 Nowadays, I spend about 20-30 euro a week for 2 people. Sometimes even less, it just depends on the week and if I have to restock my pantry staples. But I live in Germany now, and can shop at Lidl where produce is really cheap. I loved this style of video! It's a great reminder to change up recipes while using the same ingredients to make a lot of different meals :) 🙏❤️
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! literally the best meal plan video I've ever seen. Everything looks delicious and on a budget can you believe?????? Can't wait to try it out
Awesome recipes! I'm going to have to set aside some time to go through all of these recipes. Each one looks great to me. I can't wait to try them, and please go for it again. Thanks so much!
OMG, Lauren is back! When you first said you were going to be gone in January I was like okay whatever, but two weeks in I wanted your recipes, I wanted your videos! I'm so glad you're back!
Yay! Lauren your back!!! Thank you so much for all of these wonderful recipes. You put a lot of hard work into making this video and that’s brilliant! 👍👍♥️♥️
What I like about this video is that it is not a cheap meal prep, because we have seen ENOUGH of those. We all by now know how to make pasta and rice and beans and chickpeas. It was nice to see some food that looks nice and delicious and fun and that I’d actually enjoy eating.
aaah you're a genius! i always stress because meal prep usually means eating the same thing everyday. love love love knowing that i can even use other leftovers to make completely new meals later in the week.
Yummy Lauren, thank you. I love that you used lentils. Beans are definitely on the menu for an inexpensive grocery store trip. I tend to eat more of the same types of meals to save money but I loved the variety that you had here. I watch a lot of meal prep videos and this was unique. You definitely would have some great staples leftover here. Side note: I gotta get my hands on some mushroom broth and a can of curry? I usually use curry paste. It looked so yummy though. I need to go to an Asian grocery store to pick some up. I find it cheaper to get Asian ingredients at an Asian grocery or Mediterranean ingredients cheaper to get at a Mediterranean store
It's so nice to see how you can use things like the chickpea water (what was it called again? :D) for other recipes, i never knew what to do with it before. I'm trying to be more conscious of what I buy and what I throw away. Also using things that I would usually throw away might save me some money that could go towards more eco-friendly ingredients. Though the latter is quite difficult if you're a student.
Wow this is amazing, I watch your videos all the time but I don't usually comment I am just amazed what you can do with $89 this is crazy!! I want to try all of these recipes they all look so good. I have made a lot of your recipes and they all have turned out amazing!! One of my favourite I make all the time is your pumpkin sage cream sauce mmmmm yummy!!!!! Do you have any recommendations as what to use instead of oats?? (I have an Oat allergy :(, it is a real bummer!!) Thanks so much for putting out amazing videos and recipes!
I can't believe how many recipes you got into a 13 minute video! What a comeback!
SAME!! I need to take a moment to process all of it haha 😂
LAUREN'S BACK! THIS IS NOT A DRILL, MOM IS HOME!!!! 🙌🙌
Abbs she is the queen of vegan delicious healthy and hot recipes! This was over the top ❤️👏🏼

It also looks like it could feed a family of 4. So it's less if you are in a couple or single. Just freeze for later.
I spend about that much a week for my family of 4
You only spend $17/week on food?? 😯
You eat a lot of ramen and spagetthi I suppose. I spend around 250$ canadian on groceries a month and i'm a college student.
This kind of content is so on point!! Showing people how easy and diverse vegansim can be
Finally, a budget meal prep that actually makes fun, delicious, comforting food!! So glad to see you back!
