Hello Coping_Skillz [ @Coping_Skillz ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me.
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.
I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol "
For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community

I definitely intend to react to more Nightwish! This song was beautifully done! Just about every aspect was impressive.
I was told by a few comments prior to yours to look for your post. You have definitely garnered the respect of other fans and I’m sure it is well deserved. I’m sorry the fandom lost someone recently, you honor her with your diligence!

@@Coping_Skillz Thank you for your comments, original and significant at the same time, a perspective that highlights your professional experience. In this sense, I would like to emphasize that Nightwish's music has helped many of us overcome difficult life situations, through the intensely optimistic energy it channels.
The late Ann Waychoff, an elderly lady from Pennsylvania, dedicated the last years of her life to promoting the band she loved, Nightwish. Through her positive approach, focused on informing new reactors, while letting them find their own way in exploring this musical universe (10 studio albums of great stylistic diversity, released in more than a quarter of a century), Ann managed to gather around her a large group of fans, metalheads and non-metalheads alike. If I have any merit, it is that I understood the importance of her tireless work and had the will and ability to carry this legacy forward. I'm glad that the fans support me in this endeavor, as you noticed.
The list I'm promoting contains some of the band's most successful performances, recorded in good audio-video quality conditions, but it's not a rigid path to follow. Often fans will come up with better and more appropriate recommendations.
I understand that you want to continue exploring, so you have a new subscriber here.

@@Coping_Skillz Welcome aboard! Nightwish Army, Florida Panhandle Division reporting for duty, sir! I am also 6'1", and I stood next to Floor at a back stage meet-n-greet in Miami a few years ago. She is indeed every bit of that 6' that is reported! And a very sweet, kind, and extraordinarily humble human being to boot! We don't call her a Valkyrie Goddess for nuthin'!! 😃😃 About the story line in which you seemed to be interested, you're in the right ballpark, but there are some key insights to understanding it that no one could possibly have on first listen without knowing a little bit about Nightwish's background. Let me see if I can help a little bit.....
The composer, poet, keyboardist, and maestro extraordinaire Tuomas (TOO-oh-moss), uses a female vocalist to bring his lyrics to life, but they are his story, his heart, from a male perspective. He has often said that Nightwish is his "personal diary." This movie-like score is a tale of unrequited love, but it is a "ghost" love metaphorically. That's another insight to understand about Tuomas' poetry: Nothing is EVER literal or shallow. He is an extremely intelligent, deep philosophical thinker who started studying for a science career and then chose music instead. So we often see highly accurate science themes woven into his stories. And if not science, references to great classical literature ranging from Shakespeare to Walt Whitman to Thoreau to Richard Dawkins, etc. His stories are a tapestry of deep metaphors woven together into larger allegories. But back to Ghost Love Score....
It is the story of a young man (Tuomas himself or a mythical character? We each have a differing opinion on that!) whose heart is torn out and shredded when he belatedly realizes that he has consumed a significant portion of his life infatuated, nay obsessed, with the love of a figment of his imagination (i.e., a "ghost"). He is in love with a woman as he wishes her to be in his fantasy; not the woman as she actually is in real life. He is devastated when he finally faces this reality. She, in real life, is not interested in reciprocating, and he feels that his spirit, his emotions, his ability to ever love again, have been killed. In real life, the resolution to this did not come with the denouement of this score but had to wait until the next album several years later. You can hear how he is still left emotionally devastated yet still strangely hopeful at the end of the song:
In the first movement, "My Fall," you can hear the Metro Voices gospel choir in the background singing, "My fall will be for you. My love will be with you. If you be the one to cut me, I will bleed forever!" But in the last movement, "My Fall Reprise," you can notice a subtle change as the choir sings, "My fall will be for you. My love will be with you. You WERE the one to cut me, so I will bleed forever!" There is always a lot of deeper meaning to unpack in Tuomas' poetry, and I think that given your professional area, you will find him to be a fascinating person and NW lyrics to be fascinating literature. Welcome to the Nightwish Army!! 🙂

Enjoyed your reaction! The keyboard stand is based on the Sibelius Monument in Helsinki, Finland. The band is Finnish and the keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen, is a big fan of Jean Sibelius, a famous Finnish classical composer. Tuomas also writes about 95% of the music and lyrics. His lyrics are very poetic and on purpose, open to interpretation. He rarely explains the meaning of his songs, wanting the listener to take from the song their own meaning and feelings. Lead singer is Floor Jansen. She is the third lead singer of Nightwish in an almost 30 year career. Floor is a Highly Sensitive Person and tends to feel emotions more strongly then most people. She uses that ability and the her mastery of her voice to imbue her singing with so much emotion. Tuomas is also a genius a writing music to elicit emotions in the listener and the two of them together create emotional masterpieces.
I find it interesting that you described this as not modern music. I would agree if you are referring to American modern music. I discovered Nighwish about 4 years ago and they have opened up a whole world of thoughtful, complex, and beautiful music like this that exists outside of the US. Symphonic Metal is hugely popular in Europe and around the world. Other bands to checkout would include Epica (band founder has a Master's degree in Psychology), Blackbriar, Within Temptation, Kamelot, Ad Infintum, Ayreon. Part of why this style of music is unknown in the US is partly the US music industries reliance on formulaic musical crap but I also wonder if most Americans have the attention span and willingness to listen to music that requires some thought and introspection.
Here's hoping you continue your Nightwish journey and that you branch out to other bands within Symphonic Metal.

I’d have to agree with much of what you said about the music industry in the United States. All big business conveyor belt productions… that tends to pander to the masses short attention spans and being “radio friendly.” Also very much stacked against any independent artists they can’t control.
That aside, thank you for the suggestions! I do enjoy symphonic metal style! So excited to hear more.

This is called Symphonic Metal as it combines metal with an real orchestra and choir on backing tapes. Floor Jansen, the Dutch singer, is incredibly versatile and has recorded music with full opera all the way to metal growls. She had been with the band only ten months at this concert. She took over mid tour with only 48 hours to learn the complete setlist travelling from The Netherlands to the USA.

Nighwish is a group of extremely talented musicians who all play for the song. No egos here and that makes for a wonderful musical experience. They are a leading example of the genre known as symphonic metal. The composer of most of the music that Nightwish presents is the keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen. He has been called the "Metal Mozart." His lyrics are often on the cryptic side and he likes for the listener to come up with their own ideas of what they song is about. Nightwish is a very deep rabbit-hole. You will find that every song is different, and there isn't a bad song in the bunch.

Symphonic Metal is the merge of Symphony and Metal. Often written in chapters, with with deep poetic and complexed lyrics - often with quotes from writers, scientists or other songs. So - just ask us, and we will point you in the right direction. Just remember that all the lyrics are written to be individually interpreted, from your own experiences and thoughts in life.
Nightwish are incredibly talented - Tuomas known as Metal Mozart and considered to be the greatest storyteller in our lifetime... No smoke without a fire...

Read about the backstory of 'The Poet and the Pendulum'. He and the whole band went through a lot and that inspired that song. But before listening, really read into it. Then it hits differently.

As you are so interested in the lyrics, here's what Floor Jansen sings:
We used to swim the same moonlight waters
Oceans away from the wakeful day
My fall will be for you
    Scent of the sea
    before the waking afterwards
    brings me to tears
    into blue memory
My fall will be for you
    into the blue memory
Siren from the deep came to me
and sang my name my longing
    Still I write my songs
    about that dream of mine
Worth everything I may ever be
The Child will be born again
That siren carried him to me
    First of them true loves
Sitting on the shoulder of an angel
Without care for love 'n loss
    (guitar solo)
    (choir)
Bring me home or leave me be
My love in the dark heart of the night
I have lost the path before me
The one behind will lead me
Bring me home or leave me be
My love in the dark heart of the night
I have lost the path before me
The one behind will lead me
    Take me
    Cure me
    Kill me
    Bring me home
    Take me
    Cure me
    Kill me
    Bring me home
    Every way
Every day I keep on watching us sleep
Relieve the old sin of Adam and Eve
Of you and me forgive the adoring beast
    Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

    Ha! ha! ha!
    Ha! ha! ha!
    Redeem me into childhood
Show me myself without the shell
    Like the advent of May
I'll be there when you say
Time to never hold our love

Nightwish is more than a band with the greatest , most versatile female singer of this time. If you continue the journey you will see their music works therapeutic for people. Lyrics so poetic yet so real, we all recognize.
From Nature, to narcissists trolling to deep depression, social media , trying to be more empathetic, addiction and suicidal thoughts to being grateful to be alive and appreciating the small beautiful things in life… they do it all in schat that goes straight into the heart. ❤️
Floor (Flower in Dutch) is the singer. She is 8”3 but Dutch people are the tallest nation on earth. As a Portuguese here I feel like a tiny smurf😂 The band is Finnish from origin, Floor is Dutch and Troy (not on stage here) is from the UK (vocals, guitar, Uillean pipes (Irish bagpipes) flutes and vocals)

To answer some of your questions: Waken is a small town in Germany (you were right to pronounce it with a “V”) where 82,000 people descend every year for a metal festival. The genre is symphonic metal. The orchestral parts are written by the keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen and are recorded live in the studio and then played on a backing track.
I really hope you continue with your Nightwish journey. You certainly won’t regret it because they are amazing.

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’.
Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera).
'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’.
Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’
Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see.
Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on UA-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered UA-cam in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish.
Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turns 8 years next march) and Lucy (1 year this october),a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.

You're the first I heard mentioning a reference with the Twilight movie New Moon. It totally makes sense. The song reminds me of the first time falling in love, the first kiss, experiencing love, losing innocence and also the illusion of the dream you had about experiencing love. For songwriter (keyboardist) Tuomas Holopainen he describes this experience like being seduced by a siren and getting lost in the ocean trying to find her and trying to make sense of who he is himself after the siren's seduction.
Thank you for your reaction! I'm really curious about what you find of the other Nightwish songs as a mental health counselor. I'm one of the people who got out of a depression listening to Nightwish songs. They somehow have healing power. Maybe because of the themes of the songs, the melodies telling these stories or the voice of (empath) singer Floor Jansen.
The whole band is just awesome, first class musicians and performers. Greetings from the Westland, The Netherlands regiment of the Nightwish Army.

Wacken is the most famous Metal Festival in the world.
This genre is Symphonic Metal. I am a big fan.😃
Nightwish has been famous since the late 1990's which is why over 80,000 people were singing along to this well known song in 2013.😅😏
Most of the world's top Metal vocalists have classical training. Metal is the closest genre to Opera.
I have always dreamed of Dimash and Floor sharing the stage. Dimash in his vampire hair extensions and Kazak leathers and Floor in her simple but stunning Valkerie leathers.😍😍😍
As Floor is 6.1 and Dimash is 6.3, they would be nicely matched.
And the blend of their voices in an original Symphonic Metal song would be absolute paradise found.
Floor is the present and my favorite Nightwish vocalist but Tarja was pretty amazing too.
If I might make a suggestion.😉 Perhaps bring up the lyrics on a tablet in front of you and doing a quick read through before you start/ listen/react to the song. This way you would not be as overwhelmed as much as you are juggling trying to follow lyrics and music/visuals.❤
    🥰🥰Much love from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

The Wacken Open Air in Germany is one of the oldest and largest metal festivals in the world. Every year 85,000 visitors visit the festival, and another 15,000 visit the village of Wacken. It takes place on what is still partly a pasture, hence the bull skull on the left, the logo. Longhorns are not typical for Germany. The organ pipes are fake and hide three keyboards. The orchestra and choir recordings are original and run as a backtrack.
10 months ago, the band was not as relaxed on stage as they are here, instead the band threatened to break up. 48 hours before the next concert, they had a falling out with the second singer Anette Olzon and suddenly had no singer. The Dutchwoman Floor Jansen had to travel unprepared and needed 20 hours just to get there. In addition, the concert marked the end of an 18-month break because she was unable to perform due to a massive burnout. She says of her first concert that her voice was only 50 percent there and that she sometimes had to sing behind the front row because she didn't know the lyrics. Mastermind/keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen says she was perfect. Weeks before the concert in Wacken, it had been agreed within the band that she would be Nightwish's third singer. Today she is the longest-serving singer.
Tuomas only gives tips on the content of his songs. He wants people to find their own way to approach his songs. The song was written in 2003, when the first part of Pirates of the Caribbean was shown in cinemas. In 2001, the first singer, Tarja Turunen, announced that she was leaving the band because she wanted to finish her studies in classical music in Germany in 2002/03. After that, she wanted to continue working in the classical field. The band was able to persuade her to continue working with the band afterwards, but on her terms. The friendship has turned into a working relationship. In 2005, the band accused her of turning into a diva and fired her in the dressing room right after the last concert of the tour. Years after the two breakups, Tuomas was asked what he would recommend to his younger self at the start of his career. He answered: Go away and study (marine biology).
This is what happened after the band fired Tarja:

VISIONS OF ATLANTIS - To Those Who Choose to Fight + Land of the Free live @ Lyon | ARMADA TOUR 2024

And not understanding the lyrics is a shame, because with NW they really are worth it. The meaning is all in the title Ghost Love Score, a story about a love that is dead but still lingering.
NW songs are not about the singer, they are about the songwriter Tuomas (on keys).

@@Coping_Skillz It might help you to know Tuomas uses several pseudonyms to refer to himself in various Nightwish songs which he writes from experiences, observation or imagination, he says he is a man with a boy's heart (child-man or man-child), a grown-up Peter Pan, and you will see that directly in places, when he uses boy narrators sometimes in place of himself. Digging into his lyrics is almost a second bite of the cherry.
He will also use poet, dreamer, writer/song writer or ocean soul - Tuomas has an affinity for the ocean, he wanted to become a marine biologist; keep all this in mind for later, it will help.

Floor posted her own "reaction" to Ghost Love Score. Among other things, she commented on Emppu (the guitarist) walking around the stage and touching each band-member, as a way to stay connected with each other.
The organ pipes around Tuomas's keyboards are just decorative... and a wine rack.
Tuomas composes most of Nightwish's songs, and writes the lyrics. The lyrics for this one are worth looking up; the backing choir track (recorded by a real choir) near the start and at the end repeats this:
My fall will be for you
My fall will be for you
My love will be in you
You were the one to cut me
    So I’ll bleed forever
(So perhaps the pain of one's first live and first breakup? As suggested by another reaction video with Charlie Calotta and Nikoletta.)
Before Floor joined the band, with their previous lead singers (Tarja and Annette), the lead vocalist didn't sing for the last minute or so of the song.
Floor added the "freestyle" part after the staccato part where she's mimicing a keyboard set to a "choir" preset. (And she draws out the last two "My fall be for you" lines from the written lyrics, doing a lot more with them than Tarja did in the End of an Era tour video.)
The "freestyle" part that Floor added to make this her own starts at 29:43 in this video, building up to the end where she flips from head voice to chest voice (belt) and hits the same note.
Most vocal coach / singer reaction videos are blown away by that.
In the 2005 version with Tarja, the choir track is much more present in the mix so we hear those lyrics repeating for the last minute of the song.

You will find that most/all Nightwish songs tell a story. And, though the lead singer (Floor Jansen) is female, consider her another instrument in the composition. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboardist and bandleader, writes the lyrics and composes the music for a vast majority of their songs. The songs are often told from his perspective as a songwriter, though in a gender neutral way. Welcome to the Nightwish rabbit hole. Greetings from Wisconsin.🤘

Song outline to help you a bit - musical intro, all about creating the sense of space that the rest of the piece will use. Music pulls back on Floor's entry, and in the first section you hear her as the voice of the siren, singing (with a choir behind) of "her fall" which will be "for you". Next section, the poet's voice about the siren you have just heard, the dream that brought that siren's song to him, "worth everything I may ever be" says the poet. A vision of an "angel without care for love and loss", who has not yet fallen. Then the interlude, orchestral, is a passage under the waves, into the water, to the underworld where things can transform. Floor comes back in as the Siren again but now singing of her passion for the poet, and her demand is "bring me home or leave me be" - the poet must conquer his muse. Hence the transition to the "grittier" register and energy, and the reference to "the sin of Adam and Eve". The muse cannot remain a distant "angel without care"; but next we hear how the poet receives this new longing of the muse for him. He wants to be redeemed into childhood, to the innocent of his original longing. All this merely sets the stage for Floor's final "flight", when all the space the whole arrangement has created serves as her "stage" as she elevates, and sings the siren's - fall. Her flight is a fall caused by her seduction or conquest by the poet. Floor soars above the energy of band and chorus, who repeat "my fall will be for you, my love will be in you; you were the one to cut me, so I will bleed forever". The whole of the drama is a Ghost Love Score because it is the love between the muse-siren and the poet-songwriter, which to his own romantic pain causes her to - fall through her love for him. I hope that helps understand the depth of the themes in this masterwork. You cannot read it as a mere human love story, at least not if you want to get all its levels.

The orchestral backing track was created in collaboration with a symphony orchestra and choirs. Nightwish plays in exactly the same tempo as the backing track during the concert. Not an easy feat, as they do the same for almost every song throughout the concert.

The classical instruments are from the London symphonic orchestra, Thuomas writes all music out for them ((keys and piano) He is named Metal Mozart. You will understand this name when you heard more music pieces, especially the big long ones .
They can’t tour the world with the orchestra and choir, so they use recordings.
Floor sings like an angel, but can also sound like a growling demon and everything in between. She has SO many coloring on her voice. She also sings opera aria’s, as she studied opera and theatre vocals.
You heard a clarinet in the interlude before the piccolo (clarinet and sax player here) such aswarm beautiful instrument

I think it’s a story of falling for a narcissist. (Idk if that’s the intention).
The beginning is the love bomb stage. In the second verse she realizes that he’s an “angle without care for love and loss”.
The 3rd is her dealing with the fallout of it. He can “take me home or leave me be”. The she realized he’d never have “time to hold our love”.
In the end she sounds super empowered. So idk. This the story I hear in the song. I’m sure others have cool ideas too!

I'm a bit confused from something you said in your opening. The way you stated things, it sounds like you're familiar with this song, but this is the first time you've reacted to it. Just to be clear, it was not your first time listening to it. Did I get that correct?

First time listening to it, but was familiar to a few details from comments on previous videos recommending them.
But I didn’t even know the lead vocalist was female. I’ll take that as a compliment though! 😂
One thing about people who have been counselors for a while, we tend to have developed a talent for being observant.
I was told I was in for a story, and to pay attention. They thought I would like it because I enjoy rock and a bit of metal.
I didn’t even know the”symphonic metal” was a thing. After reacting it reminded me a little of the Transiberian Orchestra that I had the privilege of seeing live several years back.
I hope that clarifies it for you!
Thank you for taking the time to comment!

I don't consider myself a Nightwish fan like the majority of the folks you'll find here. I'm really a fan of Floor's and her solo projects, which, after seeing her solo performances from her appearance on the Dutch tv show Beste' Zangers solidified my fandom of Floor and she introduced me to Nightwish. So, to promote Floor I'm going to take the liberty of posting a selected playlist of live performances that I consider the most enjoyable for me from her catalog of solo projects.
    2019 - Beste' Zangers
Solo cover of "Shallow" (Lady Gaga) - ua-cam.com/video/M68pe4a_9zk/v-deo.html
Duet cover of "Phantom of the Opera" w/ Henk Poort - ua-cam.com/video/plCScjvDOJM/v-deo.html
Classical, cover of "Vilja Lied" in German - ua-cam.com/video/lcLG5X1i2QM/v-deo.htmlsi=HUiy9AYavOrwSANH
2021 - solo Amsterdam Concert **You will find these are from her channel and the entire concert is there, professionally taped provided by her fans through crowdsourcing**
    "Storm in a Glass" - ua-cam.com/video/7ax5nSPB9t8/v-deo.html
    "Slow, Love, Slow" - ua-cam.com/video/bBG8GdyLYDk/v-deo.html
    "Nemo" - ua-cam.com/video/Uebh4TuP_Xg/v-deo.html
2022 - Singles from her 2023 released solo album. There are music videos of these singles but I prefer the more organic live versions. All six venues provided excellent acoustics
    "Fire" - recorded at HLF8 - ua-cam.com/video/rqwHMgo_DdQ/v-deo.html
    "Storm" w/orchestra - ua-cam.com/video/8dAP8Mjgh_E/v-deo.html
"Me Without You" - First public performance - ua-cam.com/video/R6LmRR-rgss/v-deo.html
    "Paragon" - Live at @RadioVeronica - ua-cam.com/video/YevVBuu7hrg/v-deo.html
    "Daydream" - Live at NPO Radio 2 - ua-cam.com/video/nNNs2lodBYI/v-deo.html
"The Calm "- this is the only one I can find live ua-cam.com/video/D2adj1GipMA/v-deo.html
Video Playlist of My Paragon live performances - ua-cam.com/play/PLAF4nircstOzIVwA8VoEz0ZQ50YivBpMW.html

It's a Ghost Love Score, that would be a story about a love that is dead, but still lingering. It could be about a romantic love, but personally I think it is not about a romantic love at all, but it is about a band member that was about to leave the band, yet she had not yet left. Heck, "the song means what the song means to you".

Hi Coping_Skillz! This song is open to many interpretations and your interpretation is as good as any. I feel it's about a love that couldn't be or a love that's about to happen but cut short, like a baby that died. If you want growls from Floor, please check out any live performance of 'Your's is an empty hope'. I think you got the image of a Valkyre! Btw, great reaction!

Although Floor sings the vast majority of the song, there are lines sung by the choir that are not readily obvious. For me they add a part to the song that you don't get from Floor's vocals alone. I've reproduced the lyrics from the Nightwish website:
We used to swim the same moonlight waters
Oceans away from the wakeful day
My fall will be for you - My fall will be for you My love will be in you If you be the one to cut me I will bleed forever
Scent of the sea before the waking of the world
    Brings me to thee
    Into the blue memory
My fall will be for you - My fall will be for you My love will be in you If you be the one to cut me I will bleed forever
    Into the blue memory
A siren from the deep came to me
    Sang my name my longing
Still I write my songs about that dream of mine
Worth everything I may ever be
The Child will be born again
That siren carried him to me
    First of them true loves
Singing on the shoulders of an angel
Without care for love ‘n loss
Bring me home or leave me be
My love in the dark heart of the night
I have lost the path before me
The one behind will lead me
    Take me
    Cure me
    Kill me
    Bring me home
    Every way
    Every day
Just another loop in the hangman’s noose
Take me, cure me, kill me, bring me home
    Every way, every day
I keep on watching us sleep
Relive the old sin of Adam and Eve
    Of you and me
    Forgive the adoring beast
    Redeem me into childhood
Show me myself without the shell
    Like the advent of May
I’ll be there when you say
Time to never hold our love
My fall will be for you - My fall will be for you My love will be in you You were the one to cut me So I’ll bleed forever

    Wow …
That was a long one reaction, and completely different from the usual. Took me (too) long to grasp it, but stuck around anyway. Glad I did.
Recommendation: check out more Floor and Nightwish. You might as well go through almost every song from this performance. I’m sure you’ve got something to say about most of them.
“The General” will soon be here with some history and recommendations.
And Wacken is a little town in the north of Germany, where they hold an open air festival every year in summer. In this case you’re talking about 82k people, so that’s a little more than just a handful … 🤭
And btw: for both Wacken as well as (Floor) Jansen, the “a” is more or less pronounced as the “a” in “dark”. If you pronounce it approximately that way, you’re good 👍

      You're welcome.
As long as people don't "get religious" over it, I'm fine.
I rediscovered the band a just a little few months ago, but I'm sure glad I did. Their spectrum is so wide, and Floor probably was the perfect match for them. She can do so much and make it look so easy at times. But as she apparently once said herself: it takes a lot of hard work to make it look easy.
Some people call Tuomas, the founder and (main) composer of Nightwish the Metal Mozart. Alliteration aside I would disagree with that. Mozart never wrote this style of ("aggressive") music. If you want to find that type of "hard" music you either have to go back in time to around Bach's time (some of the composers of that time, including Bach, really pull the stops at times; Buxtehude is a good example, but by far not the only one; Scheidt is another one e.g.), or you have to go forward in time, to Beethoven and Berlioz for example. I have to admit though, that a nice sounding alliteration is way more difficult with Bach, Buxtehude, Beethoven or Berlioz. So, yeah, in that respect, I can live with Metal Mozart, although it does not really describe what's in the tin.
Enough of my rambling. Enjoy the Nightwish ride ... 😊

BTW: if you want to see Floor singing something COMPLETELY different, and still pull it of like a Master, search for "Shallow" (the song by Lady Gaga). AFAIC Floor's performancee of it is even better than the original. That's just my opinion, though.
It's not my type of music btw. but I still appreciate her performance of it.

Turn on the closed captions for the words. Nightwish songs are almost always story style. Always lyrically poetic and filled with metaphors and imagery. Floor is about 6' in her bare feet. Here she is in heels. Speechless?
