    • @bishop51807
      @bishop51807 2 роки тому

      True, but getting rid of the benefits and technology that space travel has given us, would set human civilization back half a century or more.
      Also, other Scholars have pointed, out instead of destroying our planet through strip mining, drilling and industrial pollution. We could gather some of our mineral resources from outer space.

    The point of the ISS is to expand our horizon and go beyond our limits. Even if you think they do nothing useful look at it for what it is one of the greatest engineering achievements in the history of humanity. People who feel that space exploration is a waste of money do not understand nor see the bigger picture of what it means that we have created something amazing and we now have humans living in space. This might not mean much to you but to me it is awe inspiring and I know I'm not alone.

    • @kucko2
      @kucko2 10 років тому

      How isn't it safe to eat afterwards? I think you believe radiation to be harmful because of what it can do to LIVING cells. In this case, the radiation treated foods should be perfectly fine to eat without much, if any, risk.

    • @EinkOLED
      @EinkOLED 10 років тому

      Food irradiation

    • @BosonCollider
      @BosonCollider 10 років тому +5

      Irradiated food does not become radioactive afterwards, just like food that has been in sunlight for a while does not start to shine. Radiation in this case usually means hard X-rays, which are exactly like light in every way except that they have a shorter wavelength.
      Imho, the term "irradiated food" isn't very specific. "X-ray pasteurized food" would have been a more descriptive term.

    • @TheEvilKookieMuffin
      @TheEvilKookieMuffin 10 років тому +2

      if you have a microwave you have had food that has been treated by radiation. Of course, used to heat it up. Not exactly as the irradiated food on orbit, but same idea :)

    • @davidteer80

    I could only imagine what kind of decompression all your joints would experience! I wonder if a herniated disc or inflammation of joints would heal or at least feel better with no gravity? Great video, I really enjoyed watching.

    It looks very fun to eat in the space though you need to recyle every moisture, even your urine, you can collect. Also look at the tunnel style entrance and exit filled with bumpers (?) that you can fly through. This is a dream! Thank you for the video.

      AlienGreen7 Velcro, in it's early days, was heavily used on space flights and I wouldn't be surprised if they still did use it quite a bit. It just seems like a perfect fit.

    It must be great living up there. a day to day life floating around with highly intelligent co-workers from all over the world, above our home planet, in a cozy environment having a hot meal and watching TV just chillin out.
