- Welcome to our Newest series “Mix it up with M.A.D.CURLS”. The concept certainly isn’t new, However, it is new to our channel. In this series we will be “mixing it up”. We will be testing combinations of leave -ins with stylers. We will be checking to see if the 2 products are compatible and therefore not leave those horrible “curdles” behind. We will see how moisturizing the combination we choose will be. We will see how long it will take to dry our hair and any other factor that we Naturals look for in our hair styling products. We are excited to bring this to you guys. You have been asking for us to do this and now we are on board. Enjoy our latest content.

The 10-in1 renewal masque was so bomb i tried it for a wash and go as my leave in and added the as i am curling jelly ugh like that was the best wash and go i've ever had PERIOD

Fall shed is a thing. It can happen in spring too. But it is more noticeable on longer hair, for sure, because it seems like it's more hair due to the length of the strands.

Love your hair Lori Anne! I have both of those products so I will definitely try. I've realized for me that I would rather have my hair moisturized and not as big at first so that it last more days than big the first day or 2 and then end up being frizzy shortly after. Thanks for the review Lori and Tay!

I have a few suggestions for the mix it up series.
1. Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Aussie Headstrong Volume Gel. (Amazing curl definition and hold but it’s still soft and has movement)
2. Cantu Coconut Curling Cream and Aunt Jackie’s Don’t Shrink Flaxseed Gel. (Bomb definition and hold. Don’t be too heavy handed with the cream because it will weigh your hair down)

Hi my favorite Mother and Daughter....I have tried the Shea moisture cocount hisbiscus curl enchancing smoothie withe echo styler olive oil gel on top with knot today as my leave it conditioner underneath....once all products are in my hair I scunch my hair....its my holy grain so far....oh let me add Im still transitioning...so it gives curl definition to my hair...my hair has moisture and always soft soft.....I can get 4 days out of this...I love your hair Lori Ann...but everyone knows how they want their own hair to look...lol..So I respect your opinion...its not a look for you as you said.....You guys hair looks Great I dont care what you put in it it always turns out BEAUTIFUL!!!❤
ROFL at the rollback! Yes I definitely want to see a video of the CurlMix flipping the order of the products. I love CurlMix but the hold is too soft for me. I love SM Curl Enhancing Smoothie....that is definitely an OG. I have that mix up on my list to do. Doesn't the space heaters raise your electric bill? LoriAnne, yes your hair has really gotten long. Both of your results are awesome. Next week I am trying the smoothie and curlmaker, then I will be trying the Mane choice gel the SM leave-in. Have you tried mixed chicks leave-in with curlmaker yet? That is on my "curly cocktail list", will be trying that soon.

My mom has straight hair (1b/c ish) and she uses the curl enhancing smoothie + gel under a roller set - her curls stay in for a whole week! It is an amazing product. I love it myself and I am wavy/curly, so barely there for curls and it does wonderful things for my hair! Love this product to bits! LOL! Me and my mom are always going back and forth with the jar. Hahaha!
Also, Idk if I may have missed it, but I just tried the JBCO max hold gel and it is bomb. My definition is crazy. I put it with the JBCO smoothie and I typically don't fan girl over Shea Moisture, but THAT combo, may have sold me. You guys should review it and tell me what you think.
I am currently under the dryer deep conditioning my hair 💈 I have the curl enhancing smoothie and that mane choice gel I think I will try it. I also have Mielle honey and pomegranate that I am so excited to try

idk if I have crazy dry hair, but I use SM Curl & Style Milk as a leave-in, As I Am Double Butter Cream to add more moisture & hold, and then SM Curl Enhancing Smoothie on top. Sometimes I use SM Frizz Defense Gel Cream to add extra hold but I'm not married to it. Then I use Camille Rose Fresh Curl to refresh. Took me like 3 years to figure out I need to go ham with creams for a wash & go. I recommend it if you have frizz for days like me

I use all my curl creams with Eco Styler, it's the argan oil version I'm using right now. I used the Eden Bodyworks curl cream last week, but I also sometimes use the Cantu leave-in, the JBCO leave-in, the curl enhancing smoothie, or the frizz-taming smoothie from Shea Moisture. I switch up leave-ins and curl creams week to week, but the gel stays the same. They all work well with the gel, though I don't use a lot of product - I have to say that!!!

Once I'm done with my Aunt Jackie's Curl La La, I want to go back to my Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I tried the one by Maui Moisture, but it's not as good. The Superfruit Deep Conditioner is one of my faves.
Great I'm currently under the dryer doing my deep conditioning treatment, and just decided to use this Mane Choice gel paired with the Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting butter. I was going to use the Ancient Egyptian gel, but you (Taylor Anne) reminded me of the elongation I get with the Orchid one. 😉 I'm doing a marathon of y'alls videos, and letting those ads play all the way through. 😊

Im just use to it but my family keeps it on 53 degrees cold in th house and I noticed when somone comes over they always bring like 4 shirts and a sweat shirt. I love the cold!

Yah🙌🏼😍❤️🙌🏼I liked both combos and how both your hair came out . I do mix it up combos all the time , lol, I feel like that Shea Moisture JBCO leave in goes with a lot of gels , I tried it with Camile Rose Curl maker, I tried it with Deva Curl Arc Angel gel, I tied it with As I Am curling jelly, I tried it with kinky curly custard . I feel like the JBCO is moisturizing and light weight , that it doesn’t cause flakes and you can get a lot of days out of your wash and go . I’ll have to try your suggestions on drying your hair by going for a ride in the car , my hair takes forever to dry , it’s almost as long as yours Taylor Anne .

Down here in South Florida, I love the Curl Enhancing Smoothie with the Kinky Curly Curling Custard. That combo had been holy grail for many years. Most jellies don't work that well down here in the humidity. I would love to see a mix it up with 2 gels, like the Uncle Funkys Daughter Curly Magic (which is moisturizing) and either an eco styler or another gel that gives ridiculous hold. I'm thinking the jelly would kind of prime the hair (enhance curls) like how the Deva Curl B' leave works.

SM curl smoothie was one of my first wash and go’s a little over a year ago and i keep it around as a “go to”. Sometime I’ll refresh my curls with it. Would love to see the “reversal” wash and go. I love those looks ladies, 😊

I second this! This #mixitup has worked for me in multiple climates, Midwest, The South, West Coast. It never fails me. I seal my ends with the Camille Rose oil or the Moisture Love oil in the Winter for added protection.
Funny you did a mix it up... last night I washed with a fermented rice line; then I styled with CR Honey leave-in, As I Am butter & a dab of CR cocoa nibs & honey oil. (Sounds like breakfast lol). It actually came out super moisturized and defined. My son thought my hair was still wet this am because of the shine. I can only imagine once all my damage is gone. It’s getting better though. ☺️

Just thought of a mix it up after seeing Taylor Anne with that Shea Moisture superfruit 10-1. Not a styler but, best mixed deep conditioner ever. Here's a way back Mix it up:
1)Shea Moisture superfruit 10-1 Superfruit conditioner in pump jar.
2) Giovanni 50/50 conditioner.
3)Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and mafura oil deep conditioner
Add all 3 at once on clean wet hair. Keep on hair at least 40 min. Add heat (hot head) for that extra bang. You'll thank me later, when your curls are popping, even before the styler.

So glad this video just popped up. I'm in the bathroom attempting to pre -poo and because I need a hair cut in the worst way, my hair has been knotting so bad and I'm losing chunks of hair 😭. So I'm going to attempt to trim my hair when I'm done washing it, and I'm going to try Lorianne's combo. I love your results. The best wash n go I've had so far is tgin's leave in and soultanicals coil boosting gelly. I also would like to see a video of you ladies applying the gel first and then the moisturizer, I would have never thought to reverse the two.

That replay XD haha Thanks for sharing, ladies. I have a question for LoriAnne: Why do you cut it short if you need to use the blowdryer to stretch it? You mentioned the shedding is too much - have you considered a black tea rinse? I never tried it so I can't attest to it, but I've seen videos of people using it to minimize hair shedding.
Jazzerlat45 No I’ve heard of the rinse but I’ve never tried it. I cut my hair because I prefer it short. I use the dryer at times to stretch out a tighter curl pattern that may have been brought on from the products I’ve used. Generally my hair falls where I want it. Also, I cut it to maintain the health of my hair. Naturals should cut their hair to keep it healthy and growing. 🤓💕➰-LoriAnne

I have tried the curl enhancing smoothie as well as curlmaker but never together. I love both of them! I will try it once I re-up on both. The biotin gel is my sidepiece but my hair has never liked the that shea moisture jbco leave in. Like, I needed more moisture. But I am loving the popping curls though! WOW! Looks moisturizing. Good vid per usual.

Im so glad you all did this mix it up. Especially with products i have already. Im definitely going to try both combinations. I’ve tried the cantu curl activator cream with Camille Rose curl maker. And i like to mix Creme of nature twisting creams with The Mane Choice gel TaylorAnne used all of the results were great. I also need to purchase a different black castor oil leave from Sheamoisture because the one i have is old and its not as thick as the other ones i see on reviews. Your results are amazing. Cant wait to see the next combination.

i tried the same wash n go as LA here at home, lovedthe definition it gave but the curls were toooo soft.
Did the MC flake with the leave-in like it did when it was a one & done? I know LoriAnne hates the tighter curls, but it looks amazing!

I notice you guys don’t use oil in your wash and gos. I’ve been wondering if that’s what makes my hair feel dry even after all the moisturizing products I use. I love my hot oil treatments/prepoo, but I think for my WnGs I’m going to try your method.
PixelatedTwix Yes, we don’t customarily use oils in our wash and go’s perhaps at the end to scrunch out the crunch. But we find that if we use oil as we are applying our stylers it blocks anything from penetrating after that. That may be your problem. If you start off with an oil early on how can any cream penetrate that? You may want to try our method and then use the oil as your last step to seal in the Moisturizing creams. Let us know if that works for you. It works better this way for us. More like LCO. Not LOC. 🤓🦁💕➰
