i wish there are more shows that include people who don't need to be in a relationship to be happy and that it's ok to not be in love, it really but a bitter taste in my mouth when a cold woman or someone who focus on their works is shown as ''incomplete'' because they're not in love, especially when those people are shown to be doing just fine without a partner
I like that, however, P.C. was already happy and complete without Judah as his romantic partner, she had already figured things out before being involved with him in that way, and showing something like that is good on its own.
@@Cloverfr yeah I wish people show more characters like Princess at least since most I've seen make me roll my eyes so hard, apparently having a relationship solved everything, at least Princess wanted a relationship but characters like her are often shown at not even interested those characters also push the idea of ''having a partner complete you'' idea since having a partner isn't going to complete you if you're not already completed

Like all characters on this show, PC's story is so tragic, wanting so hard to be a mom but she can't - the difference is she finds a way to work on/through it, unlike Bojack
@@Sp1n1985 Hi! I am the adult daughter of a married, successful working woman and I am not a criminal! And while it's true that ambitious working mothers need to get clearly higher results than her male colleagues to recover the experience lost in the maternity leave and eventually rise to the ranks, there is some hope to balance a life besides that.
She is just like my mom, an interesting mix of a pragmatic, invulnerable leader, and an emotionally available, advice-giving coach. My mom has also become much less of a workaholic, finding interests outside of it, and feeling at ease with not doing anything sometimes, without feeling worthless because of it
People can be ridiculously bitchy and condescending though, and through it all genuinely think that you're best friends or something 🤔 it's probably a good play and commentary on how some women can be so bitchy without even consciously realising 😂
Although I agree she is definitely the most functional and productive among the main cast, PC is just as flawed as the other main characters in the show. Though success and efficiency alone won't fix her work-life balance, or lead her to happiness. (Thankfully show, she learned that, so in that regard she is definitely in a good spot at the end of the series.)
@@LinkEX being flawed makes for a better role model than any perfect being. We're all flawed, no matter how we look at it, so surely it's better to model oneself off someone who works with their flaws rather than someone who has none
@@Scanny524 Ah, I see what you mean. When I hear "role model" I think more of an ideal to aspire to. I'd consider her more of an "inspiring example", in the sense that she isn't an ideal role to be imitated as a whole. But you have a good point. Since she overcomes her flaws eventually, that does make her an even better role model, since she shows how to overcome those obstacles that we struggle with. (Rather than never having struggled with them.) But that distinction between "role model" and "example" are some hair-splitting semantics that aren't too well established, and I might even just wrongly picked up on.
I really love her character. Even though Diane and Bojack are relatable, Princess Carolyn is the type of character where you know deep down, you want to be like her. Actually, I aspire to be like her
Princess Carolyn is the reason I watch the show. I am so driven to achieve my goals. I want domesticity too. PC does not view becoming a mother as a huge burden on her shoulders. When Dianne gets an abortion while PC is trying to get pregnant, she doesn’t make Dianne feel like a terrible person for making that choice. She in fact offers her words of comfort, “you don’t have to explain anything to anyone”. She breaks the stereotype of “working woman” and embraces her motherhood & workaholism by managing not to fall into a mother’s guilt & also not compromise on her dreams. Initially, she feels that her routine with Ruthie is weighing on her, but once she forms a bond with Ruthie, things start getting easier. She puts up with a lot of sexism & thankless clients, but nothing makes her despise her job. She once questions why she took this job up. Success doesn’t come to her overnight. She worked at length for 23 years to get there. In the first episode, from her interaction with BoJack, I thought, “Oh, what a cold & rude person she is”. I eventually understood that that kind of shrewdness is a demand of her job. I love her & I never thought that an animated pink feline character would become one of my idols. 🧚🏻♀️
She is not just a strong women character, she is a strong character. Everyone in this world tries to find balance in their lives, and happiness along with it, both men and women. She never gives up, shes positive, shes just the best.
While I am normally the first to say something like that, in this case it seems like a disservice. She intentionally aspired to be a female role-model, after all.
This isn't true, I get the sentiment you're going for but we need to stop trying to divorce identities from characters. Princess Carolyn could not be rewritten as a male character due to several elements of her character arc being inexorably tied to being a woman. Being a female is an inherent, necessary part of her character and that indeed makes her a strong woman character.
I’ve lived so many self-reflecting moments through Princess Carolyn, so many of my worries and actual experiences were presented through her, and the episode in the restaurant - oh my, I’ve watched it so many times, it’s my ultimate TV show catharsis. Sometimes I forget it’s just a cartoon. I am so grateful for this show!
Carolyn is one of my favorite characters. She's one of the most grounded in the entire show. She does play off the mean-spirited executive style person, but she also has a soft side as well. She wants to suceed but shit just keeps coming her way. She's definitely a role-model for hard working people and I think of her all the time when I do things.
I hate that many movies about working women makes them choose between work and marriage, and they make it look like that being a working woman is sad and depressing and that what she really needed all along was to quit and become a house wife. I love that princess Carolyn has found a perfect balance rather than being forced to choose one or the other
Pringles Cartilage is my favorite customer! What a responsible lady, with such a tasty name. My good co-worker Tamara can barely hear her lovely voice when she orders at our drive thru, hopefully when her 15,000$ hearing aid arrives she'll be able to take in the full charm of our most beloved customer Pringles Cartilage.
Recently I've decided to give myself a fresh start, let go of some pretty bad habits I had. So I got this pink orchid and when my boyfriend saw me with it, he said "Hey, you gotta name your plant, right?" and I instantly replied "Princess Carolyn". Because she's such an inspiration. I want it to remind me that I can do it, it's all about the attitude.
It’s great to see a show really pull off the working woman character really. So many shows try to have one and end up making her unpleasant and dislikable bc they push one angle just that bit too far. Princess Carolyn manages to stay human and rootable throughout the series and is easily one of the best characters of the bunch.
I've always identified primarily with Diane, and feared that I might become a Bojack. But this video showed me that I also have a lot in common with PC. Great video!
When I think of PC and her marriage to Judah, I think of the saying, “The healer also needs healing. The planner also needs surprises. The giver also needs to receive. The thoughtful also needs to be thought of. The considerate also need to be considered.” And I love how she found someone like that for herself. It gives me hope that I can find my Judah one day too ❤️
12:50 Nitpick: Princess Carolyn is not the only one unable to see through “Vincent Adultman”. Most of the characters inexplicably can’t. BoJack is one of the few who can.
I don't have anything to add, this video has me in tears. It hits all the best points of PC as a character and why she deserves happiness. Great job, and thank you!
Princess Carolyn is hands down one of the best characters in the show, especially since even though she let's most of her work life get in the way of a lot of things, she never lets that get her down and she doesn't give up on anything or anyone not her clients or herself, that's one of the reasons why i like PC, she's a strong willed and empowered woman, in fact in my opinion she's a living example of what a working woman is today.
I absolutely love the way they resolved the conflict between PC and Vanessa Gecko. I'm happy they didn't pit them against each other over their femininity. Rather, it happened because both are competitive people and have something the other doesn't have.
For some reason, I was searching through all of this channel’s videos just yesterday looking for one about PC! No idea why I though there was one already, but I’m so happy that there’s one now! She my fave.
I love how her wedding represents the the two halves of her life. The left one represents her work and career and the other one represents her being a mother and a lover.
i see a lot of me in her. i sacrificed a lot to get to where i am. princess carolyn is a reflection of not just a working woman, she's the reflection of the modern-day complicated woman: one with hopes, dreams, and a will as tough as nails to reach them.
The original show about life and death and the philosophy of death giving meaning to life was HBO's Six Feet Under which is a total masterpiece and still hold's up today. It's a perfect "tragic comedy" just like Bojack and if you haven't seen it's a must watch!!! There is so much to analyze about the show as the characters are all deeply flawed, complex, and so human. It's a masterclass in acting and writing and personally I felt the quality of the show never dipped during its 5 seasons. It's also so worth watching for the series finale which is considered by many to be the greatest ending to a show
Wtf, I feel like The Take reads my mind. When I was watching Gilmore Girls the other day, you uploaded about that, and I was watching series 4 of Bojack yesterday and now you upload about my favourite character! Honestly, I see a lot of myself in PC, and I'm so happy she got her happy ending.
The Take and Wisecrack teaming up is like when two good friends finally get together after years of circling in fringe friend groups. Then we all drink wine and talk about philosophical applications to pop culture. I love this, thanks for the content!
as a workaholic woman who struggles with work-life balance and the constant reminder that you have to choose between your work or your personal life I cried watching this video. And also give me some hope of a better future.
12:50 Only BOJACK can see that it’s three children stacked one on top of the other wearing a trench coat. It’s everyone else (including PC) that fail to acknowledge that. When they break up, the language PC uses implies that she’s known all along that he’s three children stacked one on top of the other wearing a trench coat but she never directly addresses it.
I want a spin-off show focusing on the lives of princess Carolyn and Diane in the year that Bojack was in prison. We have seen both these women struggle throughout the entirety of the show and we have seen them get their happy ending. I wanted to see 'how' they got there - Dianne's move and wedding, princess Carolyn's career and life.
I think the main reason Princess Carollyn is loved by the majority of the fandom is she accepts the life as it is. She improves herself, adjust her attitude to get fit in the harsh reality. She is not hypocrisy as Daniel, she knows being woman is difficult but she doesn't only judge other people to make it easier. She made it herself
PC just emanates power without being arrogant she’s realistic but compassionate independent but cares for others & constantly fights for what she wants ugh a perfect woman if she was real😂😂😍😍
Thank you for this. I got my mom to watch the show with me, and it's completely different to watch it with a 50+ years woman than to do it with your age peers, and the first thing that I noticed is how much she is like Carolyn in many aspects. We need an episode about Todd, because the first time I saw it, I thought that he was saying goodbye to Bojack, but now I believe that it was kind of a father-son relationship and that he is going to be the one taking care of an old Bojack.
BJHM makes a good point about how that whole thing about 'opposite attracts' might be truth in a superficial level but in the long run it's unsustainable (BoJack e PC, Diane and Mr. Peanutbutter, BoJack and Diane in a platonic view... other couples I'm not remembering right now). Attraction/liking someone alone isn't enough to hold a wholesome relationship, after all. You have to be able to live and support each other and that can't happen if you have different views on core life structures or if your personalities are just crashing against each other all the time to the point you can't agree on anything and one side has to compromise a lot. Judah and PC was not a couple I predicted or even thought of but the moment they appeared, I was so damn surprised and pleased. Because they work, you know they do because you already saw them around each other, they have the same mentality and know each other. They fit. And I was so happy to see them in the end.
Ooof can’t wait for this, Princess Carolyn is my favourite Bojack character she has so much depth, I’m getting a bit teared up just thinking about it actually 😢 I
Good collaborations. Really love the feminine gaze I've seen in content by this channel. There are so many Excellent channels out there doing these kinds of subjects that sometimes it feels oversaturated, but it's still good to have choices in which ones to watch.
Another tragedy of this character is, as mirrored in work focused people, is the insistence on doing it herself. It took her so long to allow Judah and Todd to help her out; I know far too many people who refuse to ask for help, and it's great to see this in a character. Also, Jared sent me here, SUBBED!
I think that would be interesting that you made an analysis of Todd. Todd is interesting character to explore and there arent many videos that to delve into him.

i wish there are more shows that include people who don't need to be in a relationship to be happy and that it's ok to not be in love, it really but a bitter taste in my mouth when a cold woman or someone who focus on their works is shown as ''incomplete'' because they're not in love, especially when those people are shown to be doing just fine without a partner
Killer queen Joan Holloway in Mad Men is the only one I think.
I like that, however, P.C. was already happy and complete without Judah as his romantic partner, she had already figured things out before being involved with him in that way, and showing something like that is good on its own.
@@Cloverfr yeah I wish people show more characters like Princess at least since most I've seen make me roll my eyes so hard, apparently having a relationship solved everything, at least Princess wanted a relationship but characters like her are often shown at not even interested
those characters also push the idea of ''having a partner complete you'' idea since having a partner isn't going to complete you if you're not already completed
Killer queen I wish there were more shows like Bojack in general :/ sucks Netflix canceled it :( glad they gave them a final season doe );
Same here. I'm 34, single, childless, and fully intend to stay that way until I die because those things just aren't what I want out of life. And I'm tired of people assuming I can't be happy and fulfilled unless I get married and pop out a couple of babies. C'mon, guys, it's 2020, not 1920.
Who else considers Princess Carolyn the best written character of Bojack Horseman?
She’s my favorite 💓
Mine too, she's one of my favourite characters, next to Diane!😻♥️
She’s my role model❤️
Yes! I have a poster of her in my room
@@beepboop756 omg i wanna see
Isn't the best-written character obviously Mr. Peanutbutter... Oh wait, no, he's the best *writing* character. But, as he said, writing is easy. The best-written character is Mr. Adultman. He did a business, and now he writes books.
Juda is mah favorite character, and his relationship with PC is so wholesome and needed... it doesnt hurt to be i charge, and doesnt hurt being that person that supports them, especially when they work together so well :3
I can't believe you spelled Judah without an h and then managed to go ahead and spell my with an h. Well played!
Agree. Also Judah is hot af.
Like all characters on this show, PC's story is so tragic, wanting so hard to be a mom but she can't - the difference is she finds a way to work on/through it, unlike Bojack
The difference was that the script was written that way irl these women end up raising criminals and die spinsters
@@Sp1n1985 she isn't your mom my guy
@@Sp1n1985 Hello Mr. R/Nice guy
@@Sp1n1985 Hi! I am the adult daughter of a married, successful working woman and I am not a criminal! @@alexandraguardian9840 "married"
i love her, she’s the one character in BH that i feel like i’ve met in real life and the kind of person you ultimately wanna stay friends with
She is just like my mom, an interesting mix of a pragmatic, invulnerable leader, and an emotionally available, advice-giving coach. My mom has also become much less of a workaholic, finding interests outside of it, and feeling at ease with not doing anything sometimes, without feeling worthless because of it
YOUR MOM IS A FCKING LEGEND OMG !!!!
Bless her, your mother is an inspiration 🙏🏻
I just love her character! In such chaos universe, her storyline feels really close to reality.
It really does, I adore how this show writes strong, badass women who are flawed, but who still strive for greatness, and to achieve their dreams. ❣️
My favorite "twist" was Gecko never truly hating her 😂.
I loved that “twist!”
People can be ridiculously bitchy and condescending though, and through it all genuinely think that you're best friends or something 🤔 it's probably a good play and commentary on how some women can be so bitchy without even consciously realising 😂
@@Silvercentipede My sister and I act like that between each other! The difference is that we know it, though.
She's amazing, the only one true role model in this show
Actually I think that spot would, hands down, go to Judah Mannowdog.
Although I agree she is definitely the most functional and productive among the main cast,
PC is just as flawed as the other main characters in the show.
(Rather than never having struggled with them.)
But that distinction between "role model" and "example" are some hair-splitting semantics that aren't too well established, and I might even just wrongly picked up on.
Everyone needs a P.C. or a Judah in their life.
I love that I can say that I do have a Judah in my life. It's the best.
I am my own P. C
I really love her character. Even though Diane and Bojack are relatable, Princess Carolyn is the type of character where you know deep down, you want to be like her. Actually, I aspire to be like her
To me, Ruthie is still the best episode of Bojack. Every time I rewatch it, I cry. It was just so perfect and sad.
I miss this show already

Ohhhhhhhhhhh shieeeeeeeeet
Sad but true
Of all the characters, I wanted her to be happy the most. 😻😻😻
Princess Caroline has always been my favorite character. but I didn’t realize how well-adjusted she is compared to the other characters until now
Princess Carolyn is the reason I watch the show. 🧚🏻♀️
I can't explain why she's my favorite character, cause she isn't even the one I relate the most, but I just love her so much. She's truly the best.
She is not just a strong women character, she is a strong character. Everyone in this world tries to find balance in their lives, and happiness along with it, both men and women. She never gives up, shes positive, shes just the best.
Men aren't allowed to be happy

While I am normally the first to say something like that, in this case it seems like a disservice. She intentionally aspired to be a female role-model, after all.
This isn't true, I get the sentiment you're going for but we need to stop trying to divorce identities from characters. Princess Carolyn could not be rewritten as a male character due to several elements of her character arc being inexorably tied to being a woman. Being a female is an inherent, necessary part of her character and that indeed makes her a strong woman character.
Princess Carolyn is what I aspire to be: a badass cat!
If my life is anything like hers when I’m 40, I’ll be more than proud of myself
I love her character, if I am being honest.
Ditto, Amy Sedaris voices her so brilliantly! 😻
@@trinaq yess! exactly.
I love that princess Carolyn has found a perfect balance rather than being forced to choose one or the other
It's weird how I as a 22 year old already relate to the 'working woman'-career. And yes, Princess Carolyn is my favorite character in the show.
Yes! This channel definetely needed a Princess Carolyn video. Also, I love her.
I love that Judah and PC get together. It was a pleasant surprise. He clearly adores her and it isn't because he NEEDS her.
She is my absolute favorite character in the show! She and Todd, who's her total opposite.
Her birthday episode still makes me so damn sad, I've wanted a perfect ending for her ever since. Happy she found it.
I've always identified primarily with Diane, and feared that I might become a Bojack. But this video showed me that I also have a lot in common with PC. Great video!
PC is the true representation I've been searching my whole life in movies and books to relate to.
When I think of PC and her marriage to Judah, I think of the saying, “The healer also needs healing. The planner also needs surprises. The giver also needs to receive. The thoughtful also needs to be thought of. The considerate also need to be considered.” And I love how she found someone like that for herself. It gives me hope that I can find my Judah one day too ❤️
I'm glad she eventually became a mother and married the right person in the end. She deserved her happy ending so much!
I love PC. She is the most level headed character on Bojack Horseman and often takes care of everyone.
Undoubtedly the best character in bojack, she's such an icon, her positivity rubs off on my depressing lonesome self, and i loved that feeling :')
I love your channel, I love Wisecrack, I love BoJack Horseman, I love Princess Carolyn. You guys made my day.
i see a lot of me in her. i sacrificed a lot to get to where i am. princess carolyn is a reflection of not just a working woman, she's the reflection of the modern-day complicated woman: one with hopes, dreams, and a will as tough as nails to reach them.
It's also so worth watching for the series finale which is considered by many to be the greatest ending to a show
She is the most realest of them all, relatable icon she is
Wtf, I feel like The Take reads my mind.
Princess Carolyn is without doubt the best character in the whole Bojack Horseman's series.
My favorite character. She would be an amazing mother. Such a confident mother, thats what women need
Without hesitation my favorite character of the show. She inspires me. I really admire her for being so determine.
I gasped silently for a minute when I saw this, literary. Thank you for this
a tangled fog of pulsating yearning in the shape of a woman.
I just realized this video is working women...talking about working women.
PC deserves the world. I was so glad in the first as when she finally earned it.
We needed this analysis so badly
PC just emanates power without being arrogant she’s realistic but compassionate independent but cares for others & constantly fights for what she wants ugh a perfect woman if she was real😂😂😍😍
Hell yeah! Judah was the best choice for her. He actually takes care of her while giving her independence.
Ooof can’t wait for this, Princess Carolyn is my favourite Bojack character she has so much depth, I’m getting a bit teared up just thinking about it actually 😢
I
OMG GUYS!!!! I've been waiting for this since I discovered you, thank you so much!!! 🙊🙊🙊🙊❤️
Bojack to PC : “ raising a Todd”
Good collaborations. Really love the feminine gaze I've seen in content by this channel. There are so many Excellent channels out there doing these kinds of subjects that sometimes it feels oversaturated, but it's still good to have choices in which ones to watch.
My favorite character on Bojack. LOVE her
I love Princess Carolyn! She's the cats meow! :)
As it turns out this is a crossover episode
Another tragedy of this character is, as mirrored in work focused people, is the insistence on doing it herself. It took her so long to allow Judah and Todd to help her out; I know far too many people who refuse to ask for help, and it's great to see this in a character. Also, Jared sent me here, SUBBED!
My absolute favorite character of the show!!! I'm so glad she succeeded!!!
I think that would be interesting that you made an analysis of Todd. Todd is interesting character to explore and there arent many videos that
to delve into him.
Crazy cat lady trope please! Or like single older strange possibly hippie type. Not a lot of video essays on that topic!
Dear, the Take,

Reminds me of Yennifer. She literally had it all but still needed to have a baby.

I was so happy she got a happy ending but I always liked PC & Ralph together, still sad they never got back together.
Awesome video, I'm so glad you guys haven't stopped the Bojack videos. Speaking of working women who buck convention with a roundhouse kick to the face, Can we get a deep-dive on Kimberly Wexler from Better Call Saul?
